Komaaj has turned into our new favorite. Even though we don't live in the neighborhood, we have been here 5-6 times over the past couple of months. The decor is very inviting, the service is fantastic and wine selection is very unique. Mostly Georgian and Armenian wine with a couple natural wine options. The flights are $35 or $45 if I remember correctly and in include 3 glasses. As for food, you have quite a few options for starters and usually around 3 or so main dishes. The main dishes sometimes rotate but the concept and taste are generally consistent across dishes. Some are a bit salty (fish and the beef kebab) so be aware. The only part that I think needs improvement is the desert menu. Ice cream was amazing which they don't serve anymore and baklava is not that great. They have a saffron yogurt which is okay but nothing unique and special and compare to the rest of their menu it's underwhelming. Overall a solid 5/5 for this place who has become our new fav and well for sure be back soon

Got delivery and was pretty good. Food arrived fairly quick for delivery. We tried the sumac beef wrap and chicken and rice. We also ordered the beet yogurt dip and eggplant/walnut dip. The wrap and chicken dish were both delish. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. The pomegranate was almost a bit too sweet but still enjoyed it. Lots and lots of the turmeric rice with the dish and a bit of salad and fresh herbs. I wish there was a bit more chicken to go with all the rice. I found the lettuce to be warm and wilted. It seemed deliberate and didn't seem to be just from delivery. It was also like that on the wrap and sort of big awkward chunks of the lettuce as well. The dips were both so tasty and fresh. Almost liked them better than the entrees. Good balance of flavor and enjoyed the texture of each.

Very cute Iranian restaurant tucked in the Outer Mission! There is a homey feel inside and the woman who served us was super friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Came with a small group of friends and ordered a few dips to start, which were very fragrant and herbacious. I got the smoked trout as my main dish which personally was too salty for me but could see someon else enjoying more. Everything did feel healthy and flavorful though and was a good spot for vegetarians in our party.

This place gets packed during dinner hour and highly recommend making a reservation even on a weekday. The service was very slow and we were all hangry by the time we finally got our food. I really wanted to like this place but the food and flavor profile just didn't really stand out for me. We ordered a bottle of wine for table of four. The wine was not good at all - had a funky taste - almost tasted like it's been sitting out in the sun or the taste you get when a bottle has been left open in the fridge for too long. We got the Rasht Mazze appetizer platter (for four people) - which basically has all the mezze included expect olive, which we also added on the side. They have a small menu so we got all 3 of the entree to try. The olive actually turned out to be the crowd favorite. - sweet & sour chicken This one was my favorite out of all 3 entrees. It actually reminded me of mole. The sauce was a dark sauce rich in flavor. - sumac meatballs It was good but tasted nothing special. It was like eating a huge homemade spaghetti meatball - smoked salmon belly & dill rice Tasted exactly like the smoked trout that came with the appetizer. I feel like the seasoning and cooking style was the same. It was dry and mediocre Overall I had fun trying out the food! Don't think it gave me a reason to come back again though.

Really good quality food. Portion sizes were on the smaller side so we split a dish and savored it. We didn't leave feeling hungry but we were also mentally prepared for portions to be on the smaller side based on the yelp reviews. The drinks were also very well crafted. Everything was delicious and we'll definitely be back.

I thought this spot is super interesting! Persian/Iranian food - different so it was nice to give it a try. I enjoyed the eggplant walnut dip and olives! We tried the smoked trout and I thoroughly enjoyed that. It is a smaller menu with many different wines.

Authentic Atmosphere with Delicious Food Everything was absolutely delicious! The location has a very authentic feel, with traditional music and a well-curated lunch menu. We shared the "La Wildfire Fundraiser" plate, and it was incredible--the mix of meat with plums and berries was a perfect combination. I also had the pomegranate chicken, which came with a rice salad and jam on the side. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and melted in my mouth--absolutely amazing. Service was fast and attentive. I also tried the pomegranate juice, which was pure and unsweetened--highly recommended! For a more authentic experience, I'd also suggest trying the Iranian doogh. For dinner they are using different menu. Overall, a fantastic meal and a great spot for enjoying Iranian flavors!

Glad I was able to come by. I've been meaning to stop since I live in the neighborhood. We came on a weekday for lunch and it wasn't very busy just a few tables sat with us. I got the chicken bowl. it reminded me a lot of hainanese chicken and rice. the vibes of the place are homey and chill. I want to come for dinner. Large serving two legs and a thigh. I took some home for leftovers.

I haven't had much Iranian food before but I really enjoyed it! This spot has unique flavors, a cute interior, and a short menu. Still many options but I prefer a short menu because they can focus more on quality over quantity. It also makes it easier to pick what to order. The dishes are meant to be shared. I came here to try their sweet and sour chicken stew and it did not disappoint! It was fall off the bone tender with an amazing thick tangy sauce. I haven't had a stew with these flavors before! I would come back for it. We also got the cucumber salad and the eggplant & tomato dip. Both were pretty good too. Also I recommend placing a reservation a few days ahead of time, especially if you have a group of more than 2. I arrived at 7pm on a weekend and this place was busy! They were fully booked but the host said a spot at the bar would it opening in 30mins. The host was really nice and the service was good

I had a very disappointing experience with Komaaj's food today. My friend ordered the Pomegranate Chicken Wrap and other items from them for our meal. To my shock, I ended up nearly choking on a whole chicken bone that was hidden inside the wrap (see photo). Completely unacceptable and dangerous. On top of that, the wrap itself was bland and poorly prepared. The chicken tasted like plain boiled chicken -- I couldn't taste any pomegranate paste at all. The wrap was mostly large chunks of lettuce, a whole pickle (not even sliced), no pickled scallions, and zero flavor of sumac. I was even more disappointed when I checked their menu and saw this wrap is $17.50 plus tax -- absolutely not worth it for what I received. I had high expectations, but this was a letdown in both safety and quality. I definitely will not be ordering from Komaaj again.

date visited: 01.24.2025 ordered: mezze platter and pomegranate chicken wings the interior is beautiful with lots of seating. mezze platter dips were all generous and the amount of crackers served was perfect. i really really really liked the pomegranate chicken wings -- cooked perfectly and literally fell off the bone. also, a nice mix of savory but sweet from the pomegranate. i will definitely come back.

This Resturant had been on my "want to go"list in yelp for over 1 year. Well I finally made it for a "pick up order", and to say the least I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the chickpea and rice dish. There were no walnuts, no pickles and no greens (like the picture), this was more of a chickpea, rice iceberg lettuce dish. And the pita chips were VERY hard. There was also no dressing. I needed to add a little extra flavor, so I added berber seasoning and salad dressing. The carrot sticks were good and crunchy. I won't be back.

    The interior, very cosy!

Located in the legendary Mission District of San Francisco, this wine bar is a great spot to catch up with friends and enjoy small bites and yummy crafted cocktails. Their decor is very chic and I especially loved all of the hardware, glasses, tables, and benches. This place was styled by a great design artist. Even though the place was pretty packed and can be kind of noisy, I still felt very calm amongst all the healthy plants and loved the sophisticated 70s inspired glassware. Another great feature of this place is that you can buy most of the plants because they have some for sale so after a couple of cocktails, I was ready to redecorate my whole house with all the plants. I ordered a yummy Rose blend that was super crisp. Also enjoyed the Truffle Fungi! A delicious Shiitake and oyster mushrooms with parmesan and arugula on toasted bread. Their Spanish inspired potatoes were delicious with their dipping sauce. They have lots of gatherings there and DJ sets on the weekends. Lastly, a photographer would die to take pictures here. There is no bad shot as the design artist made sure every section of this cute wine bar was picture perfect. Loved all my photos and videos. I look forward to returning to this exquisite wine bar!

The high top tables were a bit wobbly, so we spilled half a drink on there. The drinks are strong. I recommend going upstairs to sit instead if you want to hear your friends better. The tables are bigger up there too. The rooftop was closed off but I'd like to check it out sometime.

This wine bar is hidden from plain view and tucked away in the Excelsior/Outer Mission. Some friends and I discovered this little gem while looking for a place to have a nightcap. Sippin' Wine Bar is located on the second floor of the Bottoms Up Bar, but the vibe is totally different. Not sure if the two bars are actually affiliated, but they are like night and day. The stairs leading up to the bar are lit up and the interior of the bar is just absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and low lit with an extremely sexy ambience. The decor is just out of this world! They have the cutest tables and sofas. The lamps and artwork are very unique but visually appealing, and the tables are set with candles that create a very sensual vibe. There's a small but adorable little patio where you can relax and get some air. The interior designer deserves a pat on the back AND a few glasses of wine (wink wink). Speaking of wine, they have tons and tons of it! Their selection is extensive and they make it really obvious with all of their lovely wine bottles that are on display. I really enjoyed their Angeline Pinot Noir as well as the Kungfu Girl Riesling. They serve food here as well. We had just come from dinner, but a few of us who shall remain nameless (cough cough) were still hangry and ordered garlic noodles, garlic fries, and tater tots. Yep, somebody's breath was stankin' but it wasn't mine! Although I didn't try any of the food, It smelled wonderful. There was no food left behind, so I'm assuming that it was delicious! The owner Shirley was fantastic! She happily hosted our group and let us sample several different wines from her collection. She mingled with us as well and talked about the business. The bar is still relatively new and opened a little over 2 years ago, so she is still trying to generate more business. I'm hoping that more people will frequent this place because I really enjoyed it and would love to see it stick around. So glad we stumbled upon this spot, and I'm looking forward to many more future visits.
