When in Atlanta expect the following: people talk on their cell phones (badly), they're the meanest drivers and inconsiderate of anyone, the people seem angry, and the medical professionals lie like dogs. My experience with the latter, including Dr Payne's office, is that medical professionals assume that no one has caller ID and when they claim to have called the number you provided and left a message they expect you to trust "god", cause that what doctors believe anyway. I advocate for seniors and the disabled and happen to be out here to help my mom. It took longer than necessary, and me stopping by the doctor's office, to get any result -- cause I didn't get the alleged message she left. Dr Karroll Payne MD and staff are awesome! They made a first time mom like me feel very relaxed. Even early in the morning everyone is so bright and cheerful! Dr. Payne answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease. She always asks - do you have any more questions? Which lets me know she wants me to feel comfortable asking .... I called once because the bf read some stupid "fact" online, but of course I panicked! The staff told me that the "fact" was indeed silly but told me to come in for an ultrasound anyway, if that what would put my mind at ease. Well I did come in, everything was fine, and I can laugh about it now. But I'm glad they were there for me and were 100% supportive. I would have felt so hurt if they didn't take my concerns seriously. I hate to say that Dr. Payne will not be delivering my baby as I am moving back to San Diego. Showed up early to fill out paperwork - despite that, was kept waiting past my appointment time for AN HOUR with no communication. For a first-time appointment, this sets a bad precedent. While waiting is frustrating, I can understand that there are extenuating circumstances that may cause a medical practitioner to take longer. I'm not much for waiting an hour with poor communication as to why, so I decided to find another gynecologist. The reasons above don't warrant a one-star review; maybe a three-star, with a comment on the wait. Here's the real reason: when I informed the front desk person, Sean, that I'd rather find another practitioner and asked for my information back, I got a wholly unprofessional, passive-aggressive comment of, "You know, if it was you back there, Dr. Payne would make sure to spend as much time as needed with YOU. You need to be more patient." No apologies for the wait, no professional, "I understand, and we wish you well..." Just an unnecessary, purposefully sassy comment from someone who is supposed to be a medical professional. Sean continued his lecture until I stated that I did not need the speech, just my documents, then wished him a good day when he complied. Since I never saw the doctor, I cannot speak to her competence. In fact, the impression that I got is that she's a great doctor. Dr. Payne is awesome! I was a first time mom and she made me feel so comfortable. She's very attentive, always cheerful and always answered my millions of questions. She accommodated me in all my silly worries and concerns and was always happy to do so. I was very comfortable and grateful that she was able to deliver my baby and take care of me during my pregnancy. I would definitely recommend her and I am keeping her as my GYN. Love her. read more

If you are looking for a decent provider, you have found it! However....if you're also looking to spare yourself from the frustration of dealing with rude/disrespectful front office staff, consistently long waits (1hr+), the possibility of your calls not being returned, you may want to find another office. After several of these examples of poor service, I and a couple friends will not be coming back. My recommendation, provider and staff should return calls within timely manner (ex: 24-48hrs), emergencies are unpredictable and understood but please look into ways to streamline wait times (possibly reducing double bookings or expanding hours of operation), and most importantly- remove front desk staff who clearly is not professional, amicable, nor patient-centered and replace with someone who is respectful, does not speak to patients with a tone, has pleasant demeanor that speaks to patients upon arrival, and has customer service experience (and most importantly cares about how they are portraying your office). read more

It was my biggest mistake to go to her; she never gave me a medication for my pain but kept assuming things about my situation. I started seeing Dr, Payne when I was pregnant with my first child 4 years ago. She was in another practice at that time. She was very pleasant and answered our questions and concerns, which we/I had millions of them. I wanted to have un-medicated birth and she was willing to work with me, even with my rejection to not have iv-prep. When I was pregnant with my 2nd baby I noticed that she had left the practice she was working for, so we had to find where she was working at because we really liked her. The drive to the office was long (and on top of that the wait in the office) but it was worth. And recently she delivered my baby #3 via c-section (after 2 un-medicated births) and who ever has seen the scar they praise her how well it's done. She is always cheery and compassionate. read more
