Short story: they tried to steal $990 from me, the manager hung up on me when I was fighting it. When I spoke to Dr. Whitmore she admitted that I never owed the $990 but blamed it on me and never once showed remorse. Please let this be a lesson to patients to advocate for themselves and always understand their bill and insurance benefits. Long story: I was initially told the total amount billed to insurance was $3300, and I owed $2000 for my deductible and nothing else. That's fine, I understood. Received a second call today stating that I also had a 30% coinsurance so I would also owe an additional $990. They said both the deductible and coinsurance applied at the same time. That is categorically false, and any simple web search will show you that you pay your coinsurance AFTER you meet your deductible. After putting down $2000 towards my bill, the leftover is $1300, and coinsurance is 30% of that amount (only $390). I was explaining this to the manager, who was so rude, said I did not understand, and hung up on me. I proceeded to call my insurance to verify that I was correct, and they said that yes I was correct, but actually I don't even have a coinsurance. So my insurance, myself, and Dr. Whitmore went on a three way call. Dr. Whitmore said "patients don't understand insurance" in a condescending manner, and said that they only planned to charge me $2000. She said that upon verification a second time they saw I never had a coinsurance, but that I never let them explain that to me. I said that they never explained it to me because the manager hung up on me. She tried to justify this by saying I was accusing them of illegal activities. I never said that, but sounds like a guilty conscience to me. Trying to charge an extra $990 with no justification IS illegal. Even if I had a coinsurance it would have never been that amount. Dr. Whitmore showed no remorse, no apology, nothing, so the call ended pretty shortly after. I canceled my appointment immediately. read more

She carries such a calming and genuine spirit about herself in radiates through the clinic and will truly make even the most nervous patient feel very comfortable. New patient here! Dr. Whitmore and her staff were extremely accommodating to my concerns. I had voiced over the phone that I was very nervous about another pap smear after a very painful colposcopy experience. Her staff assured me that she was very gentle and Dr. Whitmore back this up with her experience. She came in to tell me that pap smears should never hurt and that it would take very little time. With my previous experiences with pap smears, I didn't believe her. But when she did the pap smear it only took thirty seconds or less! Obviously this could take longer for others but I was shocked and didn't feel a thing. It was a huge relief to see she meant what she said and genuinely cared for my discomfort and anxieties. She says she loves her job and she means it. Doctors that go the extra mile to make you feel catered to are a little hard to come by. Even when I requested bloodwork, the phlebotomist (person who takes blood samples) was extremely accommodating to my discomfort with needles. I firmly suggest this clinic to those of you that are uncertain or have massive anxiety related to OB/GYN like me. read more

I finally quit this practice, and I'm glad of it. 10 years ago, when I was a teenager with ovarian cysts, Dr. Whitmore was a cool young doctor with a small but busy practice who helped me feel comfortable with myself. But two years ago, when I wanted to discuss birth control options, Dr. Whitmore wasn't really even interested in discussing options with me. I said I thought I wanted a Mirena IUD, and she seemed shocked that I thought I didn't want kids in the next 5 years (I was 24! and since they pay for themselves compared to a pill after 1.5 years, taking it out early is still cost effective!). She tried to talk me out of the IUD, without offering any other options or why they would be better or figuring out what I wanted from birth control. And when I still wanted it, she didn't explain anything about it--just handed me the little leaflet about it and said I could ask questions on the day-of if I needed to. The staff is also incredibly rude and confusing/confused over the phone. (Bizarrely, they're really nice in person!) I've scheduled various tests over the phone only to come in and be told "we can't do that, you're on your period." Even AFTER I got my IUD and I just had unpredictable spotting, no actual period! When my first IUD came out, I had a lot of bleeding for about a month. When I called after 2-3 weeks, concerned, Dr. Whitmore was brusque and flippant, saying that I needed to have a "minor surgery to clean you out" (I eventually figured out she meant a D&C) and that I should just come to her when I was ready for it, but not to bother her until then. No explanation of what the surgery was, how it worked, or why I needed it. I panicked, because the first surgery I could find based on what she had described was invasive and something that had a chance of leaving you sterile. The final straw was when I came in for a pap smear + ultrasound (to check the IUD). Dr. Whitmore is/was incredibly creepy with patients and their babies--she asked me over and over again when I was going to have a baby, and when a new mom comes in for a post-partum check-up, she insists on holding each baby and says stuff like, "This baby is mine too because I delivered it!" And then when I had my check-up, she kept saying "I'm so fat! I wish I were skinny like you!" (she is an average build, and so am I). Bottom line: I don't need a creepy doctor who wants to control my reproductive choices, pressure me to have a baby, and use her patients to take out her body issues--and neither do you! read more

New patient of Dr Whitmore's and I wanted to provide my experience to those considering selecting her as their ob/gyn...first, her staff was very accommodating when I had to reschedule due to a last minute work meeting, secondly they were very professional and had me meet with the NP, Heather first to review my history and then Dr. Whitmore for my pap exam and to discuss fertility options. I was brought back to my room in less than 10 mins from arrival, and the doctor thoroughly addressed my concerns, provided referrals, quickly had me checked out! First time visiting Dr whitmore i was referred by my primary care provider the visit with her was good as a matter of fact i brought my family.... i had some test done in the emergency room at Northside had a painful cyst with fibroids she suggested surgery upon leaving i was asked to fill out a medical release ti get my CT and US from Northside i was told i would get a call once they received the records well i had not heard anything after a week i called up there due to me having pain the receptionist had no clue what i was talking about bottom line they lost my medical release or they just didn't send off for it so i have removed me and my family have sought another ob gyn...trust first impression really does matter read more

Dr. Whitmore preformed my first surgery in 2010 but when I had to have surgery again in 2013, she referred me to a specialist that was more versed in scar tissue. While I never made it to my first appointment to see Dr. Whitmore, my experience with their staff and the process of making an appointment was frustrating enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Long story short (as short as I can make it): My regular gynecologist, Dr. Combs at Piedmont Ob/Gyn, is gone for maternity leave until October and I needed my annual pap done. Because I'm now in my early 30's and still in school, I also wanted to look into egg preservation as an option in the near future with Reproductive Biology Associates. For my RBA consultation, I needed an ultrasound between days 1-4 of my cycle to get a BAF count (I didn't know what this was but I assumed an OB/GYN office would). When I called Dr. Whitmore's office in May to schedule an appointment and explained to them what I needed, they scheduled me 6 weeks out for the 2 procedures back-to-back because that was the earliest time their ultrasound person would be available that coincided with my cycle. A 6-wk wait time is a bit absurd but I was used to Dr. Comb's 3-mo waitlists so I agreed. The day before my appointment, I call to confirm my appointment and ask if there're any special precautions I should take for getting a pap while I'm on my period. The lady immediately sounded concerned and said that I'd have to cancel both of my appointments because they cannot do a pap or an ultrasound while I'm on my cycle. Confused, I re-explained to her that my ultrasound HAS to be done while I'm on my period and that we scheduled both of these appointments knowing that would be the case. After being on hold several times while she consulted the doctor and whoever else, she tells me that she's sorry and that they only do ultrasounds for people who are pregnant and that they absolutely cannot do a pap while I'm on my period. What? Seriously?? You couldn't have told me that 6 weeks ago when I made the appointment?! My RBA consultation is only a week away and I absolutely have to have my ultrasound done in this 3-day window so rescheduling or trying to find another doctor last minute really wasn't an option! I tried to contain my frustration and asked her if there's ANYthing they can do for me, maybe move my pap appointment back a few days or even just take ultrasound pictures of my ovaries so I don't show up to my consultation empty-handed and she just kept saying there's nothing they could do for me and that the next available appointment for a pap would be 3 more weeks out. Her unwillingness to help me (when it was their fault in misunderstanding their own in-office capabilities and what I needed) combined with her unsympathetic tone really angered me to no end. But what could I do but say thanks and hang up? Luckily, in calling about a dozen other Ob/Gyn offices after hanging up with Dr. Whitmore's office, I found Dr. William Crone, who's office had the technology to do my pap while I'm on my cycle, an ultrasound technician who knew exactly what type of ultrasound RBA would need for my consultation, and could squeeze me in the next day! I couldn't believe it!! With Dr. Crone located only 5 miles from Dr. Whitmore, I cannot recommend this business with their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to understand what I needed and work with me in rescheduling when it's their fault I have to cancel my appointment. Just because I needed more than their standard cookie-cutter pap doesn't mean there's any excuse for a doctor's office to brush off a patient's concerns so easily. read more

First of all....Dr. Whitmore is very pleasant and easy to talk to. Her personality is very welcoming and funny. Her staff....is God awful. From the first encounter on the phone scheduling the appointment I hung up concerned. From the manner in which they speak to the professionalism you expect from a medical practice...is non existent! Appointment day: a bunch of women, gossiping and acting like they're at home in their pajamas is the impression I got. The office looks like it's not quite moved in yet, very bare and very cold. If it weren't for an appointment I had, I would have turned around THE moment I opened the door and heard the catty chatter. My interaction with Dr. Whitmore was THE only thing that saved the experience. After my appointment, we needed to order a device that of course needs to be pre-approved so I'll have to return another day. Fast forward a week, I call the office to check on said device and the very rude secretary tells me it's not here but you can call them to find out when it will be delivered. Unbeknownst to me, I assumed that the office placing the device calls to handle that...here's where nightmare begins. This woman spoke to be like we had a personal fight with each other. I tried to be nice but we ended up both coming out of character then she hangs up in my face. Naturally, you call back to figure out what the hell just happened. All you hear in the back ground is her saying her version of the conversation. Needless to say, I will NOT continue care with this practice. I've asked that dr. Whitmore please call me and to NOT continue any inquiries regarding the device. I'll gladly start over with another practice. ONE of the most terrible experiences I've EVER had at a doctor's office. read more

I saw Dr. Whitmore on June 19, 2014 and was so very pleased. As an attorney, I care about knowledge, professionalism and ethics of a physician and with her I got all three and a whole lot more. Her staff is adorable and so easy and friendly. I'll be a patient for life now with Dr. Whitmore who spent time listening to the ailments of a 63-year old, post menopausal woman. While she may be on TV, (that isn't the reason I went to see her) and I do enjoy her show, her profession is #1 and it shows. I love Dr. Whitmore! I had a high risk pregnancy last year and she was with me the whole way. She saw my face in her office TOO much. I called the office regularly with issues in my pregnancy. The staff were always friendly and returned my calls. Sometimes Dr. Whitmore would call me too. I ended up having my son 3 weeks early and Dr. Whitmore was at the hospital that morning to deliver him. During labor my blood pressure went up (post eclampsia) and my baby's heart rate started to go down so Dr. Whitmore gave me pitocin to speed up my labor. Within the hour I was pushing my son out. He was born with the chord around his neck (meconium) and she handled that calmly, clipped the chord, called the Team in an everything was fine. I had a healthy baby boy natuarlly. At discharge from the hospital Dr. Whitmore made sure I had all the prescriptions I needed for pain along with one for my blood pressure that took a few months to go back to normal. I would recommend her to anyone. She's a realist, but she's very knowledgeable about her field. She cares about her patients and she's very good at what she does. read more

Was our doctor for the birth of our son 2 years ago. She was great during office visits when she was there but there was always an hour wait. BUT when I went into labor she was about to switch shifts with another doctor and tried to rush my delivery. I was less then 10 hours into labor when she decides she will just break my water herself and administer medicine to quicken my contractions to move the delivery time faster. This was my first pregnancy and I was suppose to trust my doctor, atleast I thought. The contractions become too strong from the medicine and my son's heart beat disappears and he goes into distress. I get a swarm of nurses coming in my room, i go on oxygen and they try and get my son back; he finally comes around and they advise me that his heart rate is not steady. No choice have to have c-section... Oh and my dear Dr. Whitmore well while that was happening her shift ended .. I'm not her problem anymore and new doctor comes in.. THANK GOD, this doctor is calm, professional, and reassuring .. walks me thru everything and really cared for me and delivered my son beautifully .. then after all that crap her office tells me she would not see me for 6 week follow up cause they were having issue with insurance (hospital and her office filing at same time and they were figuring out which deductible went to) and wanted $5,000.00 at that appointment or she would not see me... yeah I went to my family doctor who actually cares about patients.. read more
