And no I didn't receive a call ... her response to that was "well it was 11at night" if it was that serious, I would've made that call. (So unprofessional in my opinion) I am new to this pregnancy journey and I was hoping that I would be able to be seen at this office because I heard nothing but great things about the providers. But TRUST the reviews about the office staff. I should've known better when I walked up to the counter ON TIME the receptionist didn't even acknowledge me. This is NOT the type of place I want my first time pregnancy journey to be around. This is just my experience. Maybe yours would be different. Just don't get your hopes up.

I watched her repeatedly demonstrate rude behavior to several patients while I was waiting. A patient was hesitant to come in due to a lunch break sign posted on the door that some one had forgotten to flip. When the patient finally said excuse and poked her head in the lobby to ask if she could come in the receptionist simply looked up and snapped, "what do you think?" The poor woman was mortified, apologized and proceeded to sign in with out a word. As a woman in customer service I can agree we have bad days but there is no reason to disrespect and talk down to others.

I was recently called by this coordinator to schedule a procedure and she actually said she would call me back with the out of pocket cost due based on my insurance. She called back and told me I had to pay $1250 my deductible basically and this would be due at the pre op appt. I paid and showed up a week later at the surgery center and the front desk/check in staff took my insurance card and said "uh-oh we don't normally take northside employees. Does the office know you're a northside employee", to which I told her "yes, they have the same insurance card on file". She gave me the run down and apparently this procedure would've costed $350 at a northside facility but because I went where I was sent my the office, it was $1250 and I'll be billed an additional ~$500. Had no idea since the practice is NORTHSIDE Northpoint :( This whole issue with the surgery center not taking Northside insurance was not mentioned to me when the coordinator called to schedule. The front office said she would "pass this on to the office staff" but it def sucked to be surprised with this information in the day of surgery. Nothing against the office staff but clearly someone "dropped the ball" since even the surgery center staff was caught off guard

Once I was called to the back, the young lady who took my vitals was personable and made me feel comfortable about my visit. Dr. Charity Johns, MD, listened attentively, was kind patient, and explained in detail what needed to be done. She gave me her professional opinion, which was exactly what I needed to hear. Thankfully, since I had traveled for almost 3 hours, she was able to fit me in for two different procedures when you usually have to make an appointment for each. It is a long drive from where I currently live, but it is important to have a good OB-GYN, especially for us, girls who are aging. I initially told the nurse that I did not want blood drawn as the other screening was sufficient for my visit reason. However I was encouraged by the nurse and doctor to get a series of tests and lab work that I did not need because it would be of no cost to myself. I paid for the visit and was advised that my insurance would cover the lab work completed. Several weeks later I am being sent lab bills for hundreds of dollars.

Lobby is fairly large - so many chairs! Make sure to check in & etc. My old gyno really made me mad last year & so I decided to find a new one. My colleague referred Rachel Burt to me. She's pretty friendly & kind. Has a huge smile on her face the entire time, lol - not sure if that's her personality or mainly for her clients, but her bubbly personality is cool to talk to and very calming while having an annual exam. I am young and used to not being listened to, but this visit took it to the worst possible level. Dr. Mabile has ignored my pain on multiple visits before this since 2022 and never provided any medication or numbing, but what I experienced with Dr. Illston can only be described as casual cruelty. She first left me in the room for over 45 minutes, then came in and out repeatedly, leaving for long periods. She also refused to re-prescribe me my birth control, which cost about $2.00 with insurance, even after I asked. She instead prescribed me Slynd (which they seem to be pushing lately), which costs over $200 even with insurance. During the pap smear "attempt," I was given no pain relief, and she ignored my discomfort and pain and tried to tell me that a tampon and speculum were the same size; therefore, this should be no problem. She also inquired about my sexual activity and virginity status, then recommended penetrative sex as a way to get used to the pain. Needless to say, her comments were extremely inappropriate and rude, bordering on discriminatory language. I would not recommend this practice to any woman of color or queer person, as they are not affirming or understanding in the slightest. Dr. Illston, in particular, should be fired. For such a medically invasive field, one would hope they'd be better, but practice does not care about you or your feelings.

I couldn't have possibly had a more proficient surgeon had I dreamed one up! Lol. I'm one of those people who really research anyone who is going to be my medical professional. Simply because you only have one life, & you want the best to work with & on you. Plus, i have to be extra thorough in screening doctors because I am a transgender male. It can be very difficult to find good medical care. Someone who isn't going to treat you like an experiment or a mental case. So, you can imagine my excitement when i discovered Dr. Hawkins! My first initial visit with Dr. Hawkins was great. She took me to her office, got to know me, & asked me many questions about what i had been going through. She presented me with options I had not thought of, & gave me some new information that I had not considered. She checked me out, & I was on my way. Days later my body went haywire!!!! It was a nightmare! I was pouring blood, & having huge blood clots. Which had happened once before. I had to change pads & tampons every 30 mins to an hour. I was experiencing difficulty even getting through the day. So, i kept in contact with her medical assistant Jessica. Jessica & Dr. Hawkins make a superb team! Jessica went above & beyond her call of duty. Any time I called her, she was so calm & reassuring! She helped me any way she could! One of the difficult parts about this whole process was that my uterus had literally grown as if i was carrying a baby. It was about 9 inches long. It was up in my abdomen. I had to go to the hospital at least 3 times, & one of those times was an overnight stay that I had to receive a blood transfusion. My leg & foot had almost doubled in size. I went to my podiatrist, & she referred me to a vascular doctor. He discovered I had multiple blood clots in both legs. My uterus was literally tearing my body apart. A year earlier I had been seeing a urologist. My uterus was causing the problem with my bladder. Dr. Hawkins had discovered that my uterus was so large that it was not only crushing my bladder, but sitting on a large vein or vessel (can't remember which) in which was causing the blood clots because the blood couldn't flow properly to my legs. Consequently, I had to have an IVC filter put in to even have the surgery. I had already had one pulmonary embolism due to the blood clots. Dr. Hawkins even admitted to me that this may be a little bit more difficult then she expected. She never gave up though. She consulted with an oncologist that specialized in difficult situations like this. She did her homework. Once I was able to finally have my surgery I was overjoyed!!!! Finally all my agony was about to be over! The day of the surgery Dr. Hawkins reassured me that everything would be fine. My surgery went spectacular. No problems during or after. Once I was okay, she even came to see me on her own personal time. I felt very taken care of by her & her team. Healing went extremely well. My incision is barely visible. My girlfriend, a nurse, even said it looked like artwork. Clean, thin, & beautiful. If you're looking for a surgeon that is intelligent, knowledgeable, & personable do yourself a favor & go to Dr. Hawkins! Best decision of my life!

They were rude and argumentative even after I thoroughly explained what had been happening with my body. This happened not once but twice. The second time was in front of my primary doctor who called to try to get me seen after I explained what had been happening. By this time I had even been in the ER in which Dr. De did not come to see me there while at the hospital and I was still given a difficult time to be seen in person. When I was able to be seen by Dr. De she was not familiar with my chart which was evident by the questions that she asked. She even gave contradicting information from what she had previously said on a televisit call about a procedure performed during surgery. Even on the six week follow up visit, I expressed concerns about what I was continuing to experience. The symptoms progressed even after a test was ordered but I received no direction or guidance on what I could be experiencing and how to manage it. I had to send multiple messages in the portal before she would even address the issue. It was a stressful and terrible experience with FPWCG and I do not recommend Dr. De to anyone after everything that I have endured which is far beyond what is included in this review.
