The event is open to anyone and people from all over the country flew in for the event. It was my first time to Lake Ming and it was pleasant it was pretty empty on the lake and mostly everyone was up the hill at the event. They had food vendors, native music and games so it was a fun time. It was pretty hot too! There were some people fishing and swimming in the lake and we saw a group of young boys doing donuts and racing in the parking lot which was so dangerous! The lake is very beautiful and clean surroundings and they even have camp grounds too! Overall, it was a lovely experience here and I would love to come back. It was a very nice relaxing day at the lake and meeting Choctaw families and the community!

Given all the above transpiring, if you find yourself in the lucky position of needing to do a summer XC run with your sophomore weak-of-heart running daughter, just don't tell her about the steep uphill. You do get to run back down afterward anyway. Should you be able to trick your kids into the run or perhaps a hike, magnificent views await at the overlooks partway and all the way up. We're talking Twitter-background-wallpaper-quality shots (not that I would know). Should I wind up randomly or intentionally in T-town, I'll take another hike, provided I can talk the daughter into it ("no honey this isn't the one you remember, it's an easy hike":).

We join along every now and then. He'll go right after work, sometimes early morning, sometimes night fishing. Today we tagged along. I don't like to stay too long at the aquaduct because there are no restrooms and no shaded areas. Also the aquaduct is at a slope, so we have to be careful, especially children. You'll find hooks, glass and who knows what else on the floor so be careful! But I do love going with my husband. We'll take our camp chairs, some snacks, water and we just chill.

While you're walking the trail you will see plenty of wildlife. It's getting warmer so the snakes will be coming out, so always keep an eye out. There are two dog parks here, I don't frequent them very often. I prefer just to take the dog for a walk. Movies in the park is starting soon. Always fun when you have small kids. The bathrooms are usually clean. Great playground for the kids. There is a pavilion with picnic tables. Nice place to chill with family and friends. 6/2/25

There are all the typical awesome things you'd find in a park including kids playgrounds and swings. All of these are new and of a quality structure. But what really stands out are the cool extra features like filtered water bottle fillers, exercise equipment, and a Bike Pump Track. If you don't know what a Pump Track is it's a place to practice your mountain biking skills. Oh Tehachapi, you really know your audience! Looking at this park you can tell there was a lot of thought and consideration that went into renovating it. It's the little things that count in life and in parks too!

West Park is Tehachapi's main sports park…read more Taking up over 13 acres, this park is planted smack dab in the middle of a residential area. I was a little surprised as I was coming across this park. What exactly was I doing here? Pokemon hunting, of course! (Don't judge!) It was quiet on week day morning. A few kids were playing a game of softball. The residential area is nice and calm. But I imagine it jumps off if there's a Little League game. West Park is well shaded with mature trees. It also houses a skate park and newly redone activity center. Kudos to Tehachapi Parks & Recs for another well-done park!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with unhurried charm, service with a smile, and a feeling that we were more family than guests. The Rankin family and staff are truly exceptional. Sarah, Clint, Shelby, Emma, Chris, Ms. Glenda, and Mr. Bill are world-class hosts who made our stay far exceed every expectation. We were celebrating our anniversary, and on our very first night they surprised us with a delicious cake, making us feel incredibly special and cared for. The horseback riding was wonderful, taking us through beautiful meadows and across the valley. One of my favorite experiences was visiting Sarah's farm, where we met goats, a donkey, chickens, mini horses, farm cats, and even a baby calf that I had the chance to bottle-feed! We loved the swimming pool, they have archery, a fire pit, pool table, or if you want to just be quiet and read a book that is amazing too. The Fresh air was wonderful and we were able to nap and just enjoy reconnecting. Evenings were filled with fun, family-centered activities. We loved learning square dancing on our first night, and the second evening featured a unique Rankin Ranch game that had everyone laughing and connecting. Sunday was especially memorable. The day began with a delicious waffle breakfast, followed by horseback riding and a hayride to a gorgeous meadow for lunch. The Rankin Ranch beef burgers were outstanding--honestly one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The afternoon horseshow tournament was the perfect ending to a wonderful day. What makes Rankin Ranch so special is that it's truly an unplugged experience. There are no TVs and no Wi-Fi, but what you gain is far more valuable: peace, relaxation, meaningful conversations, and the chance to reconnect with the people around you. As a bonus, the ranch offers subscription boxes featuring their incredible beef, as well as quarter, half, and whole cattle available for shipment. We obviously stopped to grab a morning cafecito as we embarked on our walk! There was so much life happening! People walking their dogs, jogging, biking, and just enjoying the beautiful Bakersfield weather. Such a fun and peaceful time. I'll definitely be bringing my pup here more often!

This is the perfect place to go for a run or bike ride. The…read morepath is very long (I still don't even know how many miles!) and there are lots of side trails to explore. There isn't much shade and the views don't change too much even with longer distances, but it sure is a great place to exercise outdoors in Bako. So far, I've spotted coyote, rabbits, and road runners while riding my bike. People on the path are friendly and courteous to others when sharing the road. There are some unhoused encampments along the side of the Parkway, but with so many people on the trail cycling, skating, running, and walking, it always feels very safe.
