We had the wings and a few different beers. None of the beers wowed us. Wings were pretty good with the BBQ sauce. Nice and crispy with the insides still juicy. The real issue is the stickiness. Inside tabletops were tacky with something smeared on them like they could use some care. Bathroom floor was real sticky under my shoes. The outside patio area ended up being the best place to sit. Not sticky out there and the employee working was very nice. They have a Photo Booth in the main seating area that's a fun way to commemorate the day. We went to 3rd act on a Saturday evening with lots of family members. They have a lot of seating options and outdoor space if the weather is nice. I ordered some non beer options since I'm gluten free which included a mocktail and a root beer float. The root beer float was a 5/5 and the strawberry mocktail was a 4/5. My husband has extremely picky taste when it comes to craft beers and he wasn't that impressed with array of beers he tried. As a side note. We also were a bit hungry but they said the wait was an hour for food so I passed on ordering food. We live in Woodbury so it is so nice to have a brewery that is right by us. We usually head there for late afternoon/early dinner beers, pizza and cribbage. My go-to beer is the They All Become Blueberries (Cream ale infused with real blueberries. Fruity and creamy. ) My go-to pizza is the sausage and mushroom. Atmosphere: in addition to having a nice patio space and game area outside, they have quite a lot of family style and 4 top tables inside as well. THeir theme is movies so you'll get a lot of references through the beer names, descriptions and decor. The staff is always friendly and 9/10 the owner has been there herself working. My only critique is that I don't recall seeing any rotating or limited beers and it would be fun to have others to try to keep it interesting. read more

This is our 3rd attempt ordering pizza here. Every time they say they are out of boxes so we have had our pizza shoved into the small Styrofoam containers or 2 pizzas stacked in 1 box. I've drove by many a times so finally stopped here a couple of days ago. Plenty of parking, inside was clean and seemed to have more than enough space, friendly staff and the food was pretty ok also. So the Schtick is that you can drink and play board games inside(or outside) or play the outdoor games available like corn hole, ring toss etc.. We were there in the early afternoon and Lots of people with kids were there but because there is more than enough seating space inside and out, you'll still get your privacy. We got a couple of drinks, played board games, got some food. Overall it was a great experience. We are definitely planning on coming back for trivia night as well as many other activity/theme nights plus live music that they have going. read more

I like having a brewery option fairly close to home. This one is always hit or miss to me. I'll start by saying I have never had an issue with service here, staff are friendly and quick. I have had good beer and not good beer here. I prefer darker beers and don't like the way they do them here. They still taste pretty bitter to me and just lack the malty goodness that most dark beers have. The lighter beers here are refreshing. The last time I was in, there was a blueberry cream ale on tap that was a great easy-drinking summer beer. I always try to find out what is currently on tap before I head over. read more

We had high hopes for 3rd Act Brewing, but unfortunately, it fell well short of expectations. The beer was mediocre at best -- completely flat with no carbonation. When you're paying $8 for a pint, there should be some level of quality and care, and this didn't deliver. To make matters worse, we paid $5 for a soft pretzel that felt like it should've been priced at $1.00. It was bland and unremarkable. And just to top off the lackluster service, the bartender made a point to let us know it only comes with one sauce. That kind of attitude really adds to an already disappointing experience. We won't be back, and frankly, we hope this isn't the kind of brewery that sticks around. The local beer scene has too many great places doing things right -- this just isn't one of them. read more

This is my Cheers! The first time my husband and I ever stopped in, the owners came over and introduced themselves. The recommended drinks to try, which we did, along with food. We were so charmed we had to come back again. Every time we come in the staff are so friendly! We meet news members when they've hired someone, and I love that friendly feeling. Their beers are delish (I love their Blond, James Blond and their blueberry cream ale) as is there food. We're obsessed with their pizza, and I love the soft pretzels. And the dry rub wings? Very cool patio space, nice variety of beer options, and super friendly people here, including the owners. They don't make many trendy beers (though do have a hazy ipa and some seltzers), with some of their best offerings being classic styles. I've enjoyed the Cherry kolsch, while not exactly traditional, is a nice spice. Their German style beers seem to be the strongest suit. The pizza and pretzels are pretty good as well. Woodbury needs places like this and I'm glad Woodbury has a brewery that has all these appealing things. This is a tragic case of what could have been! This place could have been a slam dunk! The windmill 360 type! Sadly, it was not! It was more like a missed dunk attempt off the front of the rim. One that careens all the way across half court and bounces into the other teams rim. Yes, it was that bad of an experience for us. Let's start at the beginning. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. They have an outdoor area that is built for a family friendly atmosphere. Cornhole, lawn Jenga, board games, ample seating, and plenty of shade on a hot day. No problems here. We ordered a flight of beers to sample the beers that they brewed. My wife grabbed a game of cribbage, and we played that while we waited for our food. We were given a buzzer for the food, but it never buzzed! More on that in a moment. The flight came out. We ordered a flight of four beers and one extra one to try. When I say that they tasted like homebrewed beer that were brewed in a foot tub, I feel like that is given them too much credit! I hated every single one of them! In fact, I never even finished two of them. We continued to play our game of cribbage while our sons played a game of cornhole and two rounds of lawn Jenga. Still no food. No buzzer buzzing or lighting up. I took our unfinished beer and the buzzer back inside to check. There was a gentleman that went to check. A lady in the kitchen, says, "They are right there on the counter." "Wait, how long have they been sitting there?" I asked. She said that they just came out. Then she proceeds to show me the buzzer lighting up. ("You don't find that suspicious?") I took the food back to our table. I took a bite out of the cowhideesc wings and watch my sons play tug a war with the stale pretzel. When I looked over my wife was cross examining the burned on the bottom pizza. (Maybe it was Cajun pizza, I don't know.) We went to let the manager know of our experience and the lady who did the magic light trick for me showed up. She stated that she was the owner and that the food looked good to her. (In her defense, maybe she forgot her glasses.) She stated that most people like it. I don't care about most people! I care that my food is atrocious! I care that my drinks tasted like dinosaur piss! I care that you have such a cavalier attitude to me coming into your establishment and spending my hard earned money. This is a lesson for a business owner. Your product is not for everyone. If someone doesn't like your product, apologize, make it right and move on! I would never step foot in this place again! I would never recommend this place if it were the only restaurant in town. If it were the only restaurant in town, I would become a world renowned chef. If it were the only place in town for beer, I would be sober! We had an employee celebration at 3rd Act Brewery in May. Deb, one of the owners, brought in extra staff to accommodate our party. The food was exceptional, the craft beer selection outstanding, and the entire venue had a great atmosphere. Wonderful service and friendly and helpful staff even during peak hours. The day was beautiful, and the patio was a great option for our group. I heard so many compliments about the venue from the participants that I decided to meet up with friends there, and I will definitely be back. I highly recommend doing an event there! read more

Not much to brag about here. The space/decor is nice, although bring your sunglasses, even if you are sitting inside. Very bright in the evening sun. The beer was forgettable. I started with the hazy IPA. The hop profile was out of whack. I tried again with the cream ale. It was fine; but the list of better cream ales out there is quite long. Overall, just not sure what would entice me to return when I can drive an extra 10-15 minutes to Inver Grove Brewing and have some amazing beer (and food). read more

3rd Act Brewery was a ghost town this Friday evening. 3AB need to fix their kitchen issues. I was told to pick up pizzas at the food pickup area, but the chips and cheese are to be picked up at the bar area even though the bar and food pickup share the same area... The pizzas take a long time to make even though they are very small. Tortilla chips and cheese is basically a bag of chips with cheese sauce. The wings - well, we cancelled on the wings because after 1 1/2 hour of waiting, they just never came. We were told that they only air fry wings 3 orders at a time. There's a reason this place is empty on a Friday night, it's just not that good. The brew is okay, but heavily overpriced. One star for the decent brew. read more

Like many of the breweries that have opened since 2018 this is a hobby, not a passion for the owners. You can see that on their website where they tout their many years of experience in Fortune 500 finance but offer little backstory about brewing aside from a sentence about home brewing then getting a quick degree from a technical college. The last time I went here the lager was infected and the other three beers my partner and I sampled were drinkable, but not memorable. The fact that one of the beers was infected and no one on staff, including the brewer, notice is extremely concerning. The indoor and outdoor space are both nice and there is ample parking, but I don't see a reason to go back. read more

The hard seltzer here is pretty tasty - much better than White Claw or any of the other leading brands. I've been here a couple of times with friends and my partner. Personally, I enjoyed the beer. I've been to a number of breweries in the state of MN and while this is not the best brewery in the St. Paul area, for being so young, I think there is so much potential. Yes, the beer is not quite where it needs to be to be a true competitor with other breweries, but it still has good flavor. The indoor and outdoor space is fantastic. There is a huge shelf of games. It's a nice place to meet with friends and family. Not to mention, the food here is great! We ordered a giant pretzel and it was delightful. I'd like to try the pizza. I ordered the Berliner Weisse and my friend had a mix of two IPA's - we both liked our selection. We wanted to try the Blueberry Cream Ale but since there are no samples, we ordered one too share. We hosted a birthday party for my daughter this past weekend here. The hospitality was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The owner immediately offered to put up a couple of extra tables for the cake and presents. Our server Molly was absolutely the best, she was beyond helpful and so very friendly. The food was great, the rest of the staff was awesome also. The whole experience was beyond amazing, and we would definitely go back and refer friends and family to try the place. First time visiting here, and first brewery I've gone to since before the pandemic started. We ordered 2 flights of beer and a Margherita pizza, Buffalo wings, a brat and a pretzel. The beer was ok, I'm not a beer connoisseur but my boyfriend is and he thought they were OK but he has very high standards. The Buffalo wings were marginal, and seemed a little under done. The brat was, well, a brat. The pretzel was really good. But the margherita "Artisanal Neapolitan Pizza" was awful. It had hardly any sauce on it, so it was extremely dry. There were 4 slices of tomato and 5 pieces of basil on it. It was supposed to be drizzled with balsamic vinegar but they forgot that. I brought it back up to the bar and they were very kind and didn't charge me for it. The place itself was nice, great patio seating and nice staff, but we won't be going back unless we hear it has improved. read more

But then I looked up the Yelp mission statement and it says in plain English: Yelp, a place for people to complain about stupid shit. Heading to a big ass party one night and was tasked with bringing some tasty beer for all to enjoy. Alright, it was a child's birthday party but parents need a little pick me up to get through mind numbing events such as this. We decided on 2 growlers and thought the Hefeweizen and Blueberry might be nice. After minimal input from the guy behind the bar, we asked to sample a few before buying 128 oz of something we may not like. Nope. Not an option. No sampling. Well that seems silly. Even the most pompous pricks in the business over at Barrel Theory will occasionally offer up a nip or two. Apparently not in Woodbury. All would've been forgotten had they turned out to be good. They weren't. The Blueberry beer was just not good. Off flavors. Not much blueberry. The Hefe was ok but still had some funky flavors and not nearly as good as other Hefes we've had. Most of it went down the drain after the party. It's a big beautiful space and would be a nice place to sit back, relax, and pretend you never had kids. But in this beer market today, you need to put your best foot forward, and hiding behind your product just doesn't do that. read more

Ok. First off, who's ding dong that thought it's a good idea to not give samples? I've been to dozens of breweries around MN and haven't run across a stupid policy like this. I guess some people don't have the common sense god gave a donkey. So that being said, I got a $7 glass of blueberry beer. I like Grainbelt Blu, so I thought this might be good. Wrong! Weird aftertaste. Then I tried Berliner Weisse. That is a pretty darn good sour beer. Not as good as Hang Tang from the Uncommon Loon in Chisago, but close. They also have a version that they cut with some mango pop. Takes away a little bit of the sour, but amps up the other flavors. Excellent. Didn't have food, so can't comment on that. read more

Went there for a 2-3 yr old soccer event which was awesome!Ordered afterwords an waited 1/12 hr for a burnt pizza plus less then average chicken wings. We asked for the manager and the waitress said " good luck with that" also comped us 2 beers and said "don't let management know" WOW! First time to this Brewery. Beautiful inside and fairly crowded. Windows need blinds. We moved tables 3 times due to intense sun making it unable to visit at table. Service slow and performed in a disorganized fashion. Asked pull tab girl questions as no one else available other than behind bar. Food was marginal, chips came in a small bag you would purchase at a concession stand. A small plastic portion cup of salsa was with it. Margherita pizza was 12$ it was flat broken crust unappealing & had very little cheese and was cold on top. Pretzel came out quite a bit later and was good, crusty but over baked. Overall the food was disappointing, not good quality or value. They should hire a kitchen manager. Unfortunately it took forever to get beer and seemed as though the taps were very slow. read more

TL;DR - I am never going back and you should stay away. I used to frequent this establishment once every few months and as of today refuse to go back. I recognized some former employees at a pub this past weekend and asked what it was like working there. Collectively, they were there from 2018 to 2022. Let's just say I had to take notes. The owners use cameras while they're not on the premises, like Big Brother from "1984", to dictate decision-making and behavior and will call the landline to do it, insisting employees "Treat the phone like a customer" and answer it even if they're the only employee behind the bar and people are waiting in line. Ummm...what? Employees are told that every minute they stand still costs the business a dollar, and employees who talk to each other OR CUSTOMERS for too long are punished with reduced hours and removed from shared shifts. The owner who runs in house operations micromanages to the degree of hand-timing bathroom breaks, pointing out when employees use the restroom "too often" or for "too long". They told me she has said she'd put cameras in the restrooms if she could. Think about that, for a moment. The owners used to take tip money to cover normal business costs (like broken glassware) that should be part of the budget. The only reason they stopped doing this was because a former employee pointed out labor laws specifically designed to prevent this behavior. There is no employee break room because employees are not allowed breaks unless they insist on the minimum legally-mandated amount of time. There is no safe, designated area to place personal belongings like purses or coats, and when employees NEED to eat they're expected to put their food on a scissor lift near the bar, eating as fast possible, serving customers concurrently. Gross. Employees are encouraged to make rounds to clear tables with a frequency that's annoying to patrons - hovering near a table to collect glassware the literal moment a customer finishes their beer is implicitly expected. Taking any time off from a part-time job there, even planned ahead of time and if the shift is covered by another employee, is considered "missing your shift" and can result in reduced hours. Their standard employee shift beer is ten ounces, with employees having to cover the cost of an additional six ounces if they want a pint, unlike nearly every other brewery. They are not allowed to sit at the bar, even if the place is empty, and there is no employee discount for food. Sticking up for yourself or other employees against this awful treatment will result in reduced hours. I've heard the owner say when I was there that they can't find employees because no one wants to work, but having spoken to these former employees, I can understand why they perpetually have a "Now Hiring" sign on their door. If you read their google reviews, they like to say wait times are because because business is booming, but evidence would indicate it's due to an inability to keep people around. On to treatment of customers...Third Act does not use pennies for cash transactions, and employees are told to round down when giving back change. Think about that for a moment, too. Check the Third Act responses to google reviews. Pretty limited: 1. "Thank you for stopping in!" 2. "We've already thought of that suggestion, and won't do it for x, y, or z reason. We've found a couple of other places that do it like us, and that's enough justification, no matter how many of you tell us it's a good idea to do it differently." 3. "Sorry for the wait time. We were unprepared for such a dinner rush." When I've been there, I've had an order of wings take an hour and a half, or JUST. A. BRAT. take half an hour. I didn't really mind, but perhaps the wait is from being chronically understaffed. Also, count how many times someone has complained and been happy with the customer service resolution they received. Don't worry. It won't take you long. By all indications, this is a case of millionairesitis - "I am financially successful, therefore I know better than you and my decisions are never wrong." One or two people is one thing. This was seven former employees and multiple customer reviews. These employees mentioned a dozen more names of people who were there for less than a month and quit due to management. I worked in the service industry for six years, which is why this is close to my heart, and I experienced some of these management issues, others not at all, and never this many at once. I bought them all a round of drinks by way of apology. I'm not giving another dime to this establishment. They'd probably short-change my dime anyway. read more
