My pedicure was *fine* and she touched up a few polish issues I pointed out to her ... but 2 days later my fourth toe is red and inflamed at the nail bed and has been throbbing for 24 hours. After a visit to urgent care, I have been diagnosed with cellulitis, and now will be on a prescription antibiotic for the next 7 days ... while I'm on vacation. It's disappointing and annoying, especially on a vacation where I will be doing a good amount of walking. Mayo Clinic says cellulitis is a common and potentially serious bacterial skin infection. With cellulitis, the bacteria enter the skin. Cellulitis may spread rapidly. Affected skin appears swollen and red and may be hot and tender. It can happen when a salon uses unsterilized tools. I'm not sure if that is the case here, but I AM sure that I will not be getting another pedicure here.
