The estimates they provided turned out to be grossly inflated (it feels like they came to a nice looking neighborhood and tried to take advantage of us) and then, when we told them we needed to have working AC within a few days time (for my son's birthday party) they made it seem like they were accommodating us by sending someone on a Friday, but that wasn't the case. They sent someone who wouldn't be able to make the fix (doesn't even carry materials on his truck) - they were trying to keep us on the line so that they could eventually get us on their schedule to charge an engorged rate. We ended up calling a local company run by two guys who are phenomenal, they came after hours (and didn't even charge us OT rates, just as a courtesy) and fixed our AC in three hours, charging FIVE TIMES less than what Brookside quoted.

Almost a month ago I called just before a heat wave to report that my central AC was not working. They sent a tech the next day. After an hour's work he told me that he could not fix the AC because he did not have the necessary equipment. Huh? They sent a tech to fix the AC and didn't send him with the right equipment to fix an AC? Then he said he would "try to come back tomorrow" with the right equipment. Tomorrow came, and he didn't. So I called High Ground and was told that the appointment had been set up for a full week from that day. How did "tomorrow" turn into the end of next week? Anyway, the heat wave came and went and I did not have AC. A few techs finally showed up at the end of the next week with the equipment they said they needed and worked for an hour. Then they told me they would have to order a part and charged me a deposit of $900.00. The AC still didn't work without that part. Another heat wave came and went with no AC. I called again and asked if the ordered part had come in. I was told that the tech who worked on the AC was on vacation and would not be back until the following week. At that time they would review the account and find out what was going on with the part and the service to install it. What the... Why did he have to be present to find out what was going on with the part? Why didn't High Ground know whether or not the part came in and assign another tech while the first one was on vacation? By the time he returns, I will have gone without AC for over 3 weeks since I first reported the problem. Totally unacceptable. Do not do business with this incompetent outfit.
