What a beautiful service to people who are in their last days who still have a desire to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect!

Now its been 3months & even paying for extra care I got a call Dad took a walk & went of path 1 block. He was not sure how to get back? Called abandonment to Villaige & NOW he needs constant supervision unil we relocate him. HERE IS THE MOST CARZY THING $75.00 per hour extra thats $1800 per day on top of the $6100. another thing dad needed INR done- number never sent to company. I was on vacation I might add as all this is taking place. MONEY MONEY MONEY.

They are definitely extremely understaffed. He had 3 bad falls, 3 trips to the ER, and ended up with a severe subdural hematoma. After consulting several medical professionals, we were advised to move him to hospice. While in hospice, (at Canterbury Place), he got the care he so desperately needed and definitely did not get at Juniper Village. We simply couldn't risk a 4th fall or a 5th! In fact, no one could ever explain what actually happened. During his stay, we were told by several staff members on multiple occasions that my dad was very aggressive, extremely disruptive at meal time, and in general, a very difficult resident. However, Lisa, the director, described him as friendly, engaged, and building bonds with other residents in the community! My dad was a very angry man. I can't see him building bonds with anyone! Also, due to some false / fabricated information, my mom and I were banned from the home to visit him! Banned! Can you imagine? We will never know what that did to my father! He passed away peacefully back in August. I would never recommend that facility. I get chills up and down my spine whenever I'm in Monroeville. It all comes back to me!

This nursing home is not the place of your loved one who is not able to take care of themselves and…read moreneeds physical assistance. 1) Staff does not hand off vital information to the next shift. My mother was admitted at night and I passed on information as to what she was and wasn't capable of doing physically. That information wasn't passed on to the morning shift as evidenced by my walking into her room to find her sitting on the edge of the bed ready to topple over face first onto the floor and a spoon sitting in applesauce on a tray nearby which she couldn't use because of her weak state. No staff was in the room at the time. When an aide did arrive and was confronted, her response was "I didn't know". How hard is it to look the resident in the eye, talk to them, and assess their abilities? 2) Staff does not provide adequately for the resident's safety. See number 1. Also, night 2 had her falling out of bed according to the staff's own admission. You may feel this is a great place to admit your loved one because they bill it as a "restraint-free" facility. That's great but it also means they have no bed rails. Instead, they place "bumper pads" on the floor next to the bed at night. Oh, yay! 3) Staff does not properly tend to the resident's pain management. When my mother did complain of pain which was infrequent as she had a nerve block but when she indicated she was in pain, she really was in pain for she was in the end stages of pancreatic cancer, I asked at the nurse's station for pain meds. The time it took for the nurse to arrive and give her pain medication was way longer than I expected. Also, when I asked the nurse to give her specific pain medication that is given under her tongue rather than pills, she first indicated she didn't know if they had them. Of course they did; my mother was under hospice care and I brought her meds with me when she was admitted. 4) Staff does not properly care for nutrition needs. See number 1. Also, every meal, the tray would be sitting there with the usual items on it for a person able to eat and chew. My mother was weak and could no longer feed herself and her appetite was all but gone for anything solid. Did anyone offer to feed her or ask what else they could try to give her? 5) Staff does not care for the overall resident's well being. All of the above. Bottom line, this was not the place for my mother to be at the end stages of her life. I had admitted her being overwhelmed by her rapid decline and fearful than I would drop her and injure her trying to maneuver her. After two days, I had her transferred out of here.

My grandmother has been here for a week and when we pressed the call button we changed her diaper, cleaned her, and put her in her nightgown and still had to wait before they showed up. She pooped her pants as a result. The people are very pleasant and kind to talk to, but considering the demographic they are working with, they need to be more responsible with their time. A 20 minute minimum response for elderly patients means that they are constantly going in their diapers and are not treated as a priority in case of an emergency. Should my grandmother fall or have a stroke, she would die at this rate of care. I'm not saying the people are not trying, but for the short period I have had my grandmother here, I have been severely disappointed with the level of care that I have seen. She should not have to be put in a position of be treated like she doesn't matter. It's incredibly demeaning to go to the bathroom on yourself because you were not prioritized in place where you are rehabilitating and trying to make progress. Regardless of staffing, I should not be waiting outside her room and watching nurses stroll by when the emergency light is on outside her door. Despite what you are doing, you should at least have the decency to walk in and assess the situation. I understand all the patients have emergencies and varying situations, but you should still address the situation in some reasonable fashion rather than not acknowledge it at all. She is fed three times a day which is great. They have a pleasant atmosphere and physical rehabilitation center. The place is nice, but mainly they need more staff to respond. The call button doesn't tell the nurses what the situation is. They don't know how serious or not serious the need is. For that reason, they need to be present immediately for all responses. The patient could be dying and they would never know nor be present in time to help.

The primary nurse assigned to my aunts care plan was terrible she almost killed her THE NAME OF THE NURSE WAS KAY. My aunt went into care with this agency for approximately 3.5 weeks due to the terminal diagnosis of cancer. The nurse assigned was KAY (African American Female with glasses). My aunt was on a blood thinner for 5 years due to blood clots she developed in 2014. When going into hospice with this place "KAY" immediately removed her from the blood thinner medication swearing to our family 1 aspirin a day would suffice my aunts need. Also stated the company is new and cannot afford to provide Xrellto but assured us the aspirin would provide the same affect. We repeatedly informed her within the first 3 weeks there are other issues that seem to be developing and things became more alarming as the days went on, I enforced we need to get her to a hospital. Kay wanted to continue treatment at home of course she didn't want the company to loose money therefore she gave us every excuse and reason why my aunt did not need to be seen in the ER. I refused to tolerate another day and took my aunt to the ER. Aside from her cancer tumors the ER doctor informed us within those 3 weeks my aunt had SEVERAL BLOOD CLOTS IN HER LEG, PANCREITIS, URINARY TRACT INFECTION AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. Not 1 blood clot but SEVERAL The doctor could not believe a nurse removed her from a blood thinner without doctors approval and the end result is my aunt being admitted to the hospital suffering at this magnitude when she was already suffering (been there 5 days now and not coming home anytime soon) due to the severity of the condition. This nurse almost killed my aunt when she was to provide a comfortable experience to her life during this stage. Once I reported to the office we would not be returning to their hospice agency, the director took the report and never even inquired about the reason why we are not returning. The director said thank you and have a nice day. The nurse aide louis is a beautiful soul and she was even concerned about my aunts lack of care (we do miss her) PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD "DO NOT PUT YOUR FAMILY MEMBER IN HOSPICE CARE WITH THESE PEOPLE"....You will not be adding to the quality of life for your loved one rather than decreasing their chance of survival even more. The name should not be Compassion care rather than Careless Care Hospice. Please Please Please do your research, ask questions, get personal referrals but run from this agency and never look back. HORRIBLE!!!!
