More than anything, I wanted to see how nail salons were changing and adapting due to Covid-19. I was happy to receive a confirmation text that explained the precautions they were taking and what I was to expect during my visit as a client; this put me quite se ease. They told me to have a mask on and wait in my car until they texted me to let me know my technician was ready. I'm glad I remembered my mask! I noticed that clients weren't allowed to touch nail polishes, you would point to bottle and technician would take bottles and place them at your service station. The no touching anything made me very happy. That means they are being extra cautious. My technician was also wearing gloves, a mask, and shield during the whole service. It seemed uncomfortable but definitely necessary. I was very happy with my service overall. Brenda, my nail technician was very attentive and thorough. There was a mis communication, I had booked time for a mani/pedi and told them I'd need extra time because of the condition of my nails but I was only scheduled for pedi. As soon as Brenda made them aware of the situation they did re-arrange the schedule and gave me extra time. I paid 80.00 dollars for my service and I was very pleased. Good service takes time, care, and extra attention. These ladies know how to take care of you. La Posada Spa offers CND products which I learned from my regular nail expert Michelle at Pewter Nails in Reno are the best. Thank you Brenda and thank you La Posada Spa. I called before arriving to ensure they performed the service I wanted- Gel-X with cat eye polish. The woman who answered the phone confirmed they did and scheduled my appointment. When I arrived the technician started right away questioning my choice- why did I want gel.x?? Didn't I mean I wanted acrylics?? No, not at all and I said so multiple times. He kept at it "the price is the same but it's a higher end acrylic I know that's what you want right!?!" Still no, after multiple nos, I finally told him I was allergic and had bad rashes in responding to the powder. I had good success with Gel.x and wanted them again. He wasn't satisfied! Like I was just parroting something I heard but there was no way I could know my own mind? "Gel x is like a press on nail you don't want that" - Yes actually I did. And again, this wasn't my first set ever, I knew the glue lasts for 2-4 weeks so I was really baffled why he was pushing this so hard- additionally with acrylics he was going to be quite literally gluing on a nail to mine to build from- and low on the nail bed despite my chronic thin nails and this placements prone to creating rips and painful breaks. The tech was insistent, a poor listener and the highlight of why I rarely go into these shops anymore- a full set with the wrong shape and 1 coat of see through color. It was a complete wash and waste of $100. It also seems I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy or appreciate these encounters- every time I think it can be different and enter a shop it is a GHOST town. Stay away.
