I unfortunately had a negative experience with my haircut and blow dry. My stylist was very sweet…read more However, the standard of her service was subpar and I hope she gets the training she needs to be able to achieve this skill. I asked for a trim/cut to remove the dead ends and keep long layers, I informed her I had curly frizzy hair and usually my stylist will cut it after the blowdry. She stated she preferred to cut it wet and informed me she would touch it up after the blowdry, which was fine with me. When it came to the blowdry, it was clear she was not skilled with proper technique to blow out thick curly hair. It took about 30 minutes just for one section when finally another stylist noticed and asked if she wanted help. The other stylist asked what product was in my hair and stated that probably wasn't the right product to use and offered her blow dryer. The other stylist did a section that turned out just fine. My stylist continued on with the rest of my hair, at points I had to inform her the blow dryer was burning my scalp. The end result was a frizzy mess and it was clear I was not happy with the outcome, while her and the other stylist kept trying to normalize it by saying "Oh some people's hair just resists the blow dry" "it's looking so good!" etc. I truly didn't appreciate these comments as I have obviously gotten several blowouts and know my hair can definitely be blown out frizz-free. She also did not touch up the haircut at the end as she previously said she would and I was left with choppy layers that I will have to get fixed. The most disappointing part is that I tried to contact the salon owner three times to have this fixed with literally no response.

Today I had a wonderful Salon experience at Mode Salon East with ROSE. She was experienced,…read morefriendly, energetic and understood how to cut semi-curly, gray, short hair styles. If you are a senior, like me, but don't want to look like one with a bad hair style, Rose is the stylist for you. I could tell right away that she would be able to help me with my "bad hair day" issues. This beautiful vintage Salon was very bright with plenty of big windows, beautiful hard wood floors and nice decor. The receptionists were very friendly. I can certainly recommend this Salon, whether you are young or elderly, I know first-hand that Rose would listen to any concerns you might have, or new styles that you would like to try. I am so please with the haircut I got today and know I will be returning to this salon in the future. I gave Rose a well-deserved five-star rating.

Nicole has been doing my eyebrows ever since my husband started going to the salon and she knocks it out of the park every time. I recently decided to switch salons and start going to Salon 119 for my hair needs as well. I booked an appointment with Bridget because she is their top color correction and blonding stylist and I LOVE my outcome. I have hated my hair for the past year. No one could ever seem to get the color right. Bridget listened to me and used her knowledge to provide me exactly what I wanted. She took her time and did it right. She made sure to take care of the hair so it would not get damaged in the process of lightening me back up. She is amazing!!! I highly recommend the salon, everyone is very nice there and the quality from all the stylist seems to great!!!

It's been some time since I've been a client at Tecnicolors, so take this review as not a recent,…read moreone-time specific, review, but a review built on years of going to Tecnicolors from when I was in high school to fairly recently. I don't go to them currently for cuts and color, but I have nothing against them save the few things I mention below. The Seagle Building location is simply splendid and the salon is lovely and it's pretty posh for Gainesville. Two incidents however with Tecnicolors stay in my mind, and they weren't horrible but still were kinda funny and slightly disturbing: First, one stylist I got when my long-time fave Rose left the salon (and town) was from Bulgaria. She was truly a sweetheart but ummmm . . . her English was badly lacking. Seriously. It was between her grasp of English and mine of Russian and some help from another stylist that we got through my haircut. This lady could, however, most certainly cut hair: problem was just communicating HOW I wanted mine cut for her to do her job. Second incident: with another stylist, I asked if I could get her to color my hair cobalt blue . . . see, I figured if I was going to do crazy color, I had best at least get a pro to do it and where better than at a salon called Tecnicolors? A friend who is a stylist in another city also suggested that I go to an Aveda salon (which Tecnicolors is) for such a wild color job because Aveda makes colorants that would do the trick perfectly. When I asked her about this, she said that yes, Aveda made the colorants to do what I wanted, but she couldn't do it at Tecnicolors because if some of that blue color got in their pale wooden floors it would dye them and wouldn't come out. Seriously? I mean they do red don't they and that also would have the capacity to ruin the floor, no? In any case, she suggested I talk to a stylist she knew at The Strand salon and see if that person would do it . . . The Strand is also an Aveda salon. So . . . my opinion of Tecnicolors as someone who has been a now-and-then client on and off for over 15 years? They know their stuff, they have a good salon going, and they probably can do what you request (except maybe blue hair!) so give them a shot. The two stories above notwithstanding, 90% of the time I've gone there for cut or color, they've done a stellar job.

I had a terrible experience here!! I got Japanese straightening down with Dwyane and it turns out…read morehe did not know what he was doing. I had to go to my stylist in New York to fix it who confirmed my statement. Additionally, I wanted color done and he refused To do so because my hair was damaged. Which I understand but he was deceptive in his communication and to me that is unforgivable. Plus one of the receptionists is very disrespectful, rude and inappropriate with clients. I really wish I could get back the money that I wasted there and the money I had to spend to fix his carelessness and lack of expertise on the area of straightening and color. I would never go back there and be sure to stop any friends or family that think about going there as well.. if I can stop one person from going there then my job is done
