Extremely RUDE and INCOMPETENT instructor - STAY AWAY!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SURF SCHOOL. Save your health and spend your time and money at a worthy surf school. There are plenty options out there at the coast. This school employs an instructor that risks your safety, aggressively speaks to you, offends you, blames you on his own mistakes, and slows down your progress! The instructor's impatience does not end with people. He regularly cuts down on important aspects of safety and lessons. He skips bringing the helmet which is used to protect your head as well as provide communication mic and speaker. He skips the practices of kite entry and exit to and from the water. Instead, he rushes out with your kite and board, mostly by riding it himself. He has clearly not been focusing on the lessons. Numerous times when I harshly fell off the surfboard he replied the request for guidance with "I was not watching". There were merely few times I went on the board, so where were you looking during these important times in an 1on1 lesson?!! The instructor risks you by riding off the jet ski to the shore and other spots while leaving you by yourself for lengthy intervals during 1on1 lessons. He uses your lesson time for surfing on his own instead of staying with you and using the jet ski to faster and more safely reach the surf spots. He further risks you, as well as others, by misusing and abusing the jet ski. At one time, he illegally did not take the life jackets. We were inspected by a police officer jet ski and nearly got a fine. He tends to surf away with the lesson kite leaving you far away on the jet ski. There are various hazards at this water area, including shallow sandbars where the jet ski gets stuck, lower speed channels, wooden poles sticking out, and crossing kite surfers to name few. But ethics are constantly overshadowed by his desire to ride your paid lesson's kite. The instructor is impatient to the level of shouting and cursing the client. This person clearly has problems with himself, troubled, and likely was on something to misbehave that way. He reflects bad on the 321 school, store, and the owner who employs him. I took a couple of lessons with 321 Kiteboarding and those were proved as a couple lessons too much. NO MORE!! read more

I ordered 2 pair of NSI Surf N Skim Padz with inserts from 321Kiteboarding. They never shipped the order, and it took 3 weeks to get a refund. The owner, Romann Chavannes, kept making excuses for what was probably just a simple pricing error on their website that he didn't want to honor. First, he expressed concern about my address. Second, he was feigned confusion about whether I ordered pads with or without inserts. Third, he tried to gaslight me into thinking I ordered pads without inserts, and coerce me to pay more for them, by changing his website. Fortunately, I had before and after screen shots. After showing these to him, Romann ghosted me for a week. It took a threat of filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of the State AG and the Better Business Bureau to get a refund. In giving the refund, he claimed that the billing and shipping address must be the same. This is contrary to the website, and if true, why did he wait 3 weeks to tell me? This year alone, I have spent $10k on kite and wing gear at Real Watersports, Mac Kiteboarding, Big Winds, Windance, KitePaddleSurf, Kite Mana, and Good Breeze. Not one item was shipped to my billing address. All provided fantastic customer service. With so many great choices, why put your money in the pocket of Romann Chavannes and 321Kiteboarding? read more

Can I give this business more than 5 stars? This place is the quintessential example of what small local businesses should be, and in the world of learning to Kiteboard... a rare find. We live in south Florida and travel a lot to beach towns all along the east coast. For some reason it is very difficult to find a place that has good instructors, good equipment, and good customer service for beginning kiteboarders. 321 is so good we prefer the 2 1/2 hour drive north to take lessons with them, rather than getting mediocre instruction with unfriendly attitudes at home. My husband has now taken a few hours lessons with Tim, and he is super friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable. The owner Romann is beyond friendly. Their customer service/communication/education is on point. It's amazing to find a place in such a specific sport category that is so non intimidating to newbies. Great little shop! Took the Intro course over the 4th of July weekend with Lucy as the instructor. Great introduction to the sport and very economical. She was patient, knowledgeable and helpful, and explained concepts clearly and gave us advice when we needed. Friendly and approachable. I took this course because I figured if I didn't like flying the kite, then I'm probably not going to like kiteboarding...turns out, I love it! The lessons were clear and interactive, which is always nice. Good group of fellow students with a variety of age ranges, and there were other women present which was nice to see. Everyone was helpful, encouraging, patient, fun, collaborative, and kind. Great group of "randos" (random) :-) . My trainer kite is on order, and I can't wait to go back and have another lesson on the water when I'm ready. Highly recommend both Lucy as an instructor and 321 Kiteboarding as a shop. NOTE: The intro lesson is 100% land-based, focusing on learning to fly the kite. At $50 for several hours of lessons (I think it was a total of 3 or 4 hours) it's an excellent way to see if kiteboarding will be a fit for you without having to shell out the $300 for first time water experience where you may not even get up in the water. read more

On a recent biz trip to Orlando; I called around to the local kite shops looking for advice on where to foil. Romann answered the phone and was super friendly. Gave us great advice and was very open to my newbie questions. As it turned out we ended up renting gear, taking lessons and making friends. Our instructor Tim was fantastic! I took the monthly intro course which was about 3 and a half hours long and included an information session and use of trainer kites. The course was great and they were very accommodating even when I postponed going to the lesson by 3 months (other things just kept coming up). Ro, who conducted the training is knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful and the other staff were great as well. I'm really glad that I started here and am eager to get into the sport. If you're looking for a "i have no idea what I'm doing" intro seriously consider these guys to get you started. read more
