I was here when it was Detroit Comedy Underground as well and LOVED it. It's great to see Detroit comics in Detroit! Great venue!

Loved the comedian we bought tickets to see, but communication with this venue is terrible. Went to…read morethe box office two hours before a Friday show to purchase tickets. They don't answer the phone but say that's when they're open. No one was there at the desk. A staff member at Hockeytown told me they might be there an 1.5 before a show. So I kill another hour to be safe and come back. Wait in line, buy two tickets for a show in a few weeks. I'm a former customer on their email list. Give my email and they promise to email the tickets. It's a week before the show and I realize I have no tickets. Call the main line, email twice. No response until two days before. They finally send my tickets (no they weren't in my spam folder). I see all the service charges and processing fee bs that I'd get if I bought them online instead of driving there to save the fees. In fact, the charge was MORE than if I had purchased online. I've seen two shows here and like the intimate venue, but won't purchase tickets again until they get rid of their junk fees for in person purchases. In addition, the parking lot nextdoor that's literally connected charges $45 to park for an hour show. More than the cost of your ticket. No thanks.

The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the drinks weren't great and were very expensive, but they did arrive quickly after ordering.

I took a sneak peak of the rental space upstairs and it's very nice!!! You can order pizza slices and popcorn to snack on during the show.

But if the mandatory 2 item purchase…read moreweren't enough (just increase the ticket price, geesh), now they've flipped the entrance from the front off Woodward to off the back alley and parking lot. It's almost as if they are trying to force people to use the parking lot, another money grab when street parking is much less. The set up inside has been flipped since I was last there as well. Now that they have servers, you can count on their constant walking and talking during the show to take & fulfill orders. The only food options available were pizza (cheese or pepperoni) or popcorn. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza before the show began only to be told that they had sold out despite there being less than 20 people there. Since I didn't want popcorn, I ordered water and a drink (that was very sweet). I had to track down the server after the show ended to pay my bill. She asked if the others at the table (who I didn't know) were still there to pay their bills. After paying, she quickly had to go find them because a number of people had already left. There were even issues with the mic. It kept going in and out with the first comedian. Shortly after the main act began, the cord completely fell out the bottom of the mic. I have never seen anything like that before during a performance. It was quickly swapped out for another mic. But I was embarrassed for them. Been over a year since I had been there. Despite wanting to support shows at smaller comedy venues, I don't know if I will be back anytime soon.

We started out with Happy Hour at The Fillmore Detroit Bar for food and a refreshing drink. The bar is the former State Bar. It is a cool place to chill and the service was very quick. I had a Watermelon Lemonade Riffresher, chicken tenders and fries. It was an excellent venue for us to hear from author Kamala Harris to talk about her new book, 107 Days. She was delivering a message on her short road to the presidential campaign and the state of affairs today that have many U. S. Citizens feeling emotionally hijacked....but I digress. This was a great opportunity to experience in such a beautiful venue. It truly reminded me of a more intimate Fox Theatre.

Beautifully decorated in the main space with gorgeous art on the walls and ceiling. Getting into the building was another story. Extremely long security lines, lots of steep stairs and semi clean bathrooms. I do understand this is a 100 year old building but some of it felt unsafe. I was seated in the upper balcony which made it hard to hear at times and difficult to see the main stage. There was a wide variety of drink options and food as well. Had a pretty good deal for popcorn and a drink for $10. The facility did its job but there are definitely room for improvements!
