My order consisted of 2 $1 grape leaves (or 6 for $5), a $4 calzone, a $2 guava puff pastry, and a ginger cookie. They take pride in sharing that no preservatives are used in any of their food. The mini calzone vs. the giant calzones other establishments offer is the perfect size for lunch. The dough was light with a flavorful sauce with an ample amount of filling and cheese. Today's options were pepperoni or meatball and the meatballs were well executed. My only "want" here is a small cup of sauce for dipping - maybe it's an option but did not ask. The grape leaves were filled with your usual seasoned rice and herbs with just the right amount of lemon. I was asked if I wanted them warmed but I declined so I could enjoy them cold. I wasn't overly thrilled with the ginger cookie. It was large but was on the soft side and I like cookies with a little bit of a snap. Flavor was okay and ginger was evident but overall it was average. The guava pastry was missing from my order today. While it would be obvious to complain about this, that is easily offset from the complimentary loaf - yes loaf - of bread that was given to me. On my way out, I let the co-owner know that I added their business to Yelp. She thanked me and then surprised me by running to me outside and giving me a loaf of bread. Completely unexpected but very much appreciated. The missing pastry can be attributed to the processes discussed in the following paragraph. My 4 star rating results from a 4.5 for the food and 3.5 for logistics. As they only soft-opened 2 days ago, there is definitely a process that needs to be ironed out. It appears the plan is for one person to take orders, one person to prepare and deliver those orders, and then kitchen staff. The line was about 5 or 6 deep when I left and there was a little disarray in how it was all being executed. Some quick fixes will be easy to do and I expect their food will carry them forward. As it is only their 3rd day, it's obvious that the word is getting out. I'll probably be back in about 30 days or so to enjoy their food again.

I've tasted their baked goods at the old location and they were very good. The new place is right beside a gas station so if you're traveling on a Lane Ave it's easy to miss. Although it may not be as good as ones I tasted in South Texas I'm just happy I found one in town. The day I visited I tried their Conchas the pink one, chocolate and vanilla. The bread are all the same, only difference is in the topping. I think it's a mixture of flour & sugar. I shared one with a friend and even after 2 days she said it still was soft and tasty. Important tip is if you want freshly baked goods you need to stop by after 4pm. I don't think they're competing with Dunkin Donuts as they don't start baking in the wee hrs of the morning. Well it's pasted right next to Smoothie King, but it's on the corner turn as you walk toward SK. Well, I always missed seeing Bagels Up because I park in front of SK's entrance and just never noticed Bagels Up until when one day I parked in the side of the lot that faced it! So finally my long wait to get here ended and I'll have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how attractive and well-kept this bagel (etc) shop is, along with the fact that it expands its offerings to coffee (including lattes and other variations) and sandwiches. This is a much larger bagel shop than Pop Up Bagels at Town Center. I was greeted by an excellent young server, Camden. He took interest in my questions, especially, on some of my comparisons to Pop Up. Aside from bagels, the two shops are very different. For one, Bagels Up has a nice seating area alongside the wall across the counter section. It's basic, but has nice tables and chairs. No elevated table seating. There are also three steel table and chairs outside the shop near the entrance. But I love the surf-centered decor - a Hawaiian look. In all, the sharp and clean appearance of this place alone will bring me back to Bagels Up! Another factor that separates Bagels Up from Pop Up is the fact that they serve bagel sandwiches (a good number on the menu) and coffee that includes lattes and iced versions. Pop Up is an about bagels - just bagels - and there's nothing wrong with that! Camden helped me with my choices, which finally landed on an Asiago bagel with cheese with chives and the French toast bagel with blueberry cheese spread. Yes, they were awesome! I like it even more that the cheese spreads are made in-house, not farmed in by a vendor. Both went very well on their assigned bagels! It was quite an enjoyable experience, as I spent time here getting to know this shop better and working on photos. I did carry out and decided to get the Warrior back into my carry out photos! Just the kind of snack he would've loved too! Come visit Bagels Up! They have enough options here that will make you very happy! One last difference between Bagels Up and Pop Up is the price. I would say that the cost of the bagels are much more affordable here at Bagels Up! I think they are affordable for most of those who visit here! The lumpia came with a chili sauce and a sweet sauce (the name escapes me, but my taste buds remember it!). Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done, some of the best I've ever had. Everyone we met was so friendly, especially the cute bearded guy at the counter who made us feel right at home.
