My husband allowed Wesley to prepare a Mother's day brunch for me and it was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better chef. The service was amazing. Whenever I ran out of my mimosa, he was right there to fill me up. The pastries/cake was amazing. I was able to fill up on these while he prepared 3 different meals for me. I ate each and every one of them. I made sure I saved room. I can't wait to have another event for Wesley to cater.

Awesome food, ordered the Florida PoBoy, Cheese Fries, Lumpia & a Mango and Strawberry Lemonade for $20. Great price. The shrimp were plump and veggies very crisp. The bread was soft and airy, which is always a plus. Everything is cooked to order and lemonades are made with real fruit. My sister ordered the Chicken and Waffles, and they looked great also (my next visit). A definite must try.

Visited the food truck when they were located off of Roosevelt Blvd and I'm so happy I made the trip. The service was amazing. The food was prepared fresh and I didn't have to wait long. They even brought my food out to me in my car! I knew I wanted to try the street corn but I wasn't sure about my main so I ended up choosing the Florida Po' Boy. Great choice! Everything was extremely flavorful and fresh. The street corn reminded me of my time in Mexico City and the all of the street corn I indulged in while there. I couldn't even finish the Po' Boy because of how big it is but it was oh so good! You definitely get your money's worth, plus! I highly recommend stopping by whenever you see this truck...I know I will!

I sought out a black owned business to support in celebration of Juneteenth. This place did not disappoint! The food was incredible! We got chicken and waffles , the tacos, Korean philly steak sandwich and a burger. The chicken was this incredible Korean style chicken wings with a delicious sauce! It came with a blueberry butter that was to die for!!!! It also came with a peach chutney which was also delicious! I had the tacos and they were delicious with actual shaved ribeye and the perfect amount of seasoning! The Korean philly cheese sandwich was super flavorful with just enough heat to make you want more! Delicious! Definitely give this place a try, you will be happy you did!

    "Baby spinach"

I ordered the garden melt and cheese fries. The garden melt : baby spinach , Roma tomatoes , caramelized onions , mushrooms and cheese. My garden melt : iceberg lettuce , sliced tomatoes like you get on a burger, onions and 3 tiny pieces of mushroom. Three. I had to take it home to eat bc it was on rye bread (nowhere was that mentioned) so I had to do some sandwich scraping. The cheese fries were good. Staff was friendly and they were busy. But that sandwich.

    Shrimp Po Boy

The Shrimp Po Boy was valid! The shrimp was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the bun was toasted just right. Also, the customer service was second to none.

I had the pleasure of meeting and eating with Chef Westley of Khloe's Kitchen the other day at Congaree & Penn. Chef is giving a food truck a go after a long stent of cooking at BB's restaurant as executive chef. His truck looks to be bare bones for now but with all the equipment needed to put out dishes such as shrimp n grits. I have to say that my dish was really flavorful and I enjoyed it a lot. I will say that the grits were a little on the watery side then I prefer. I also went for some beef tacos. For some reason I have tacos on my mind these days. I will say for a braised dish there was a good amount of flavors going on in this dish. I will say that the tacos were perfectly matched with pickled onions, cilantro and a cotija cheese which you don't see very often. in all I think that chef Westley is doing a good job and I will hit him up again soon.

Steak tacos with a side of fries... $9
    Cuey M.

I had the steak tacos and a side of fries from here which set me back about $9. The tacos were great and fries had the perfect crispiness to them. Aside from a longer than usual wait everything else was good. I'll be back!

I have to be honest it wasn't my favorite. It was just ok but I felt like it was missing something. They made it like it was supposed to; other than onions. I had the Rosemary Parmesan bread and it had great flavor and that's really all I tasted with the sandwich and not the meat, cheese or dressing. Now my favorite sandwich here is still the Philly cheese. I always get this and was trying to get something different to try. Not sure which sandwich I will try next. Definitely not the #2 Jersey Shore's Favorite!!!! Also we ordered water. First time we noticed they charged .25 for each cup. All five of us noticed dirt/black stuff floating in the water. We ended up pouring out all the water cups and tried it again. 3 out of the 5 cups were fine on the second attempt. I ended up not drinking anything because of it. Not sure if it was in the water or the ice. Other than that everyone else in our group enjoyed the lunch and loved their sandwiches. My wife ordered the Tuna sandwich. She liked it. My mom ordered the chicken salad sandwich and she loved it! Our granddaughter ordered the ham and cheese and she liked hers. All the staff were super friendly and very patient while each of us ordered.

My go-to is the Hoss burger, because I love the onion rings and special sauce, but their steaks (ribeye and tenderloin) are also perfectly aged and fresh off the butcher block. This is a small deli with seating tucked away on a neighborhood street where you're guaranteed to be greeted with a friendly smile by someone willing to answer any questions you may have. It's an older building but they're serving up bistro quality food. The menu is written on the wall to the right of the register, but they also have a printout. If you're prone to decision overwhelm and don't want to order 14 things, you can also look at the menu on their website! If I lived in walking distance, I'd come here twice a week. They also sell beer, wine, salads, sandwiches, and chicken tenders and fried fish! Can you tell I'm obsessed with this place?!

That just means the service, and atmosphere is welcoming to every one. I felt very welcomed and approached by multiple people to ensure my visit was going well. Which feels nice when you're deciding to eat local at a place that is 100% mom and pop vibe. You can choose to eat in, or take to go. I decided to order the 16oz ribeye and sit out on the patio. The patio is not accessible from the inside ordering area. So be aware of that for drink refills and such. But they manage to still bring you your food and check on you occasionally. And for a more of a self serve place, that was more than I was expecting. The steak was cooked to perfection. Not overly seasoned, and I'd say just the right amount. Veggies weren't undercooked or over cooked. I planned on not eating half and saving a little for later. Well it was too good to do that haha. All in all a good meal and can't wait to be back.

The staff were very attentive and polite to everyone. My order was ready immediately. They gave it to me with a sense of pride, and for good reason, everything was great. More on that later. The inside is clean, minimalistic, very zen. A great place to enjoy coffee with friends or do some work. There is seating both inside and outside if you're looking for a cafe experience. First, the cinnamon roll. Just fantastic! Good base with just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon. The frosting, sweet, but not overwhelming. The lemon kolache...amazing, perfect combination of tangy and sweet. A next level danish. Finally, the most unique, elevated sausage, egg and cheese sandwich I've had. The sausage is part of the top which is a great touch. The cheese is likewise strewn throughout the delicious roll. Finally, a perfectly square egg. It's breakfast as art really and tastes as great as it looks. I can only imagine how great the coffee is and I'll be back to try it. If you're in the Avondale/Ortega area, this needs to be your coffee and baked goods stop. You'll be glad you did.

Breakfast anyone?…read more On this Mother's Day all I wanted was some coffee and something yummy for my belly. So we all got in the car and headed to Avondale for The Fox Restaurant. When you walk up it's a cute small restaurant that packs a mighty punch with their decor, vibe and the menu. Normally the line is pretty long to get it but it moved quickly. While in line I was greeted by the owner Ian. He was so friendly and charismatic. He sat me down as I waited for my husband and kid to join and handed me a nice hot coffee which was soooooo good! The restaurant is decorated with all vintage art work and hand drawn art work from patrons. As well as different signs with funny phrases. My favorite was sign said " If you are grouchy, irritable or just plain mean, there will be a $10 charge for putting up with you". Hahah I read it to my son because he tried to get mad about his dad taking forever to get the tablet out the car lol. Now back to the food! I had the French toast, with eggs over medium, turkey sausage and fruit. Everything was so good! I also caught a glimpse of their biscuits and I will definitely be back to try them. Besides the excellent service there I like that my Togo items were in a bag that said "Eat Local, Eat Often". I try to buy local as much but more importantly I love being able to support a local business as well as something that is a staple in the community. If you're even in Avondale or you're thinking of breakfast make sure you go to The Fox Restaurant!
