While visiting the area and a lover of Spanish and Italian food, I had to try 3 Flags. It's a smaller place in a strip mall, but has quite a few tables that are set very festive with white table cloths and napkins folded into red Christmas trees. The extensive menu has numerous options from Portuguese, Spanish and Italian dishes; of which I chose Chistorra as my appetizer and Seafood Nostra as my main. The Chistorra was served in a little iron pan with shrimp, sausage and mushrooms in a spicy brown sauce which was delicious. The Seafood Nostra was a nice blend of traditional seafood and linguine with a tasty tomato sauce. To top it off, Tiramisu which was a smaller slice, but was quite good too. Unfortunately the service was a bit cold and a little slow, but the food made up for it. read more

Small restaurant in a shopping plaza, with an elegant flare. Navy blue napkins adorn the tables, on white linen. The potatoes with garlic are very good. Ordered the special porterhouse with shrimp and mushrooms, guest had honey bourbon salmon, saffron rice. Side salads over soup. The warm bread was a nice touch with butter. Service was a bit disappointing on an Easter brunch time. The owner was pleasant and lovely providing wonderful customer service but she wasn't our primary waitress. Our waitress, however, was somewhat short and lacked any patience. The food was very good as always and the portions generous. This was our first time dining here and overall it was a positive experience. This is a small business located in a shopping Plaza. The restaurant is small and cozy and feels welcoming. They serve Portuguese, Spanish and Italian food and are BYOB. Our server Billy was very attentive and personable. We were served toasty warm bread while we looked through the menu. We ordered: -octopus appetizer -lentil soup -paella -1/2 bbq chicken platter -Cuban sandwich -ice cream sundae -espresso -hot tea The items from the lunch menu come with soup, coffee/tea, and ice cream sundae - your choice of flavor. The food was fresh and tasty, I only wish the Cuban sandwich had been made Panini style rather than toasted and less mustard was added to it. Other than that the dishes were all very good. 4.5 STARS. Great little place! The menu can be a little overwhelming as they are probably trying to do too many things but all of our dishes were hits! I had the Octopus Appetizer and it may have been slightly overcooked (tad mushy) but it tasted great. For an entree, I split the Paella Valenciana w/my mom and glad we did as it was very large. I give the Paella a solid 7.5/10 as some of the seafood was overcooked but it was very good. I've attached all the dishes and everyone enjoyed their meals. For dessert, I ordered the Flan, others the mini apple pies, and one cheesecake which looked delicious and they really enjoyed the raspberry sauce it came with. I've been meaning to try this place for a long time.After hearing how wonderful the food is and nice the people are I was excited,who doesn't love Spanish food!? My parents came over for dinner and to watch movies and I didn't feel like cooking.Doordash to the rescue! I would definitely give this place a 5 star but we ordered paella and asked for no mussels, because me and my mother are allergic and they gave extra it seemed pulling the mussel's out the paella was fabulous! We also had the whole roast chicken that came with two sides excellent...I don't know how they made the roast chicken but it was probably one of the best I've ever had.The Spanish potato's great ,the sauteed broccoli great,and of course the rice all delicious. I stopped by here earlier today for a takeout dinner for a party of 6. We had found 3 Flags restaurant via Yelp and liked what we saw on the menu. So we decided to place a to go order through the slice app and were given a timeline of 15-30 minutes. We arrived to the restaurant about 30 minutes later and our food was ready for us. 3 Flags sits in an unassuming strip mall off of NJ9 in Forked River and the 3 flags are for Portugal, Spain and Italy. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the seafood nostra and my wife did as well. Other members of our party ordered the paella, garlic shrimp and salmon. At first glance the seafood Nostra looked fantastic with the calamari, shrimp, clams and mussels in it. The calamari in it was cooked perfectly and so was nice and tender. Then the shrimp were pretty large and had a nice sweetness to them too while the clams were tasty too. Lastly for the seafood was the mussels and that was the letdown for me. My first two mussels were incredibly gritty and the third tasted off. So at that point I just stopped eating them which was a shame. I also really enjoyed the marinara sauce but couldn't eat as much of it as I would have liked as it had some of the grit in it which was off putting. The two other members of our party who had mussels in their dinner did not have any issues and so I guess I was just the lucky winner on this day. The bottom line for me is that I would probably still head back here again in the future. While most of my seafood and the sauce was fantastic, those couple of mussels definitely were not great. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a very nice meal. We went for lunch on a cloudy Monday. When we arrived around 1:30pm, there were several other diners already there, but still plenty of open tables. Our kind and helpful server, Kenna, greeted us very promptly with menus including the specials of the day, the luncheon menu and the all day/dinner menu. We ordered a soda and a glass with ice for seltzers that we brought in; the restaurant is a BYOB. Our beverages arrived quickly and Kenna took our order, including shrimp in garlic sauce and seafood paella. While we waited for our app, a basket of bread and butter arrived at our table. The shrimp and garlic sauce arrived soon afterwards. It was our favorite part of our meal, the shrimp were plump and tender, served in a delicious Iberian style garlic sauce that we literally devoured with the warm bread. We both agreed that we would return again for the garlic shrimp alone! Shortly after finishing our app, the paella arrived. It was filled with lots of delicious shellfish including mussels, littleneck clams, scallops, and 1/2 half lobster. The rice was plentiful and had a nice creamy richness with red peppers and green peas. There was more than enough to share; we ate about half and wrapped the remainder for home. We were offer dessert, but we were both too full to indulge. Although we noticed other diners enjoying cheesecake, ice cream with chocolate chip cookies, etc... We were seated immediately for our reservation at table by the wall. The decor is simple but appropriate and welcoming. Our waitress was cordial and very polite. She made us feel comfortable. The dining area is small and filled with guests who seemed to be regular patrons. We chose the spinach crab and cheese dip with toasty seasoned crostini's for an appetizer, Delicious! The entrees were grilled filet mignon, 8oz. Baked potato & Salad. Steak on stone, 2 5oz filets w/ garlic butter, grilled at the table by me to perfection. It creates a little bit of smoke and heat but well worth it. The final entree was a special. Do you like to pay extra to upgrade to sauteed broccoli as well as the steamed broccoli and receiving yellowed broccoli that was more than 50% stems? Gummy shrimp? Chewy chicken? If you like all those things, then this is the place for you. None of the people in our party got a good meal as there were issues that abounded. we went to this restaurant and brought a bottle of wine which the waitress proceeded to dropped on the floor and break. someone went out to the local liquor store and bought the cheapest bottle of wine they could find To replace it as we sat there twittling our thumbs. tonight we made the mistake of trying it again, not sure why. my husband went in the week before to make reservations and requested a specific table for his birthday! because when you go there as a couple you always get the crappy seat in front of the kitchen door. when we arrive we were told to pick a table. apparently they said the same to the two people who were sitting at the table we reserved for tonight. For my mothers birthday we went to 3 flags, next to the Charlie Brown. It's a very nice place with very delicious food! The calamari here is very good and it comes with the tentacles! The lobster paella was very excellent and flavorful and you can taste the outburst of seafood in your mouth. The wings are pretty good too. We made reservations and the space is very limited so making one would be very smart. I recommend going to this place for parties and it's also BYOB so you can open a bottle and celebrate whatever occasion it is you are celebrating. read more

We have had dinner a handful of times here. We always make reservations. They are needed, as seating is limited. It does get tight in there, so if that is not your thing, check them out for lunch or weeknight. That's the only downside to point out. However, some of the best restaurants are cozy, like 3 Flags. What I like about 3 Flags is their unique variety in their menu. Their bourbon salmon is very tasty and well portioned. Seafood paella was also very good. My husband enjoyed the filet mignon that he was able to cook on a stone. That was a fun experience. The grilled chicken caeser salad is the only salad we have tried so far. It was again, tasty. We also recently tried doordash delivery. Delivery was fast. For well-made large meals, the meals were packaged well for delivery. So, we will be ordering delivery again. All in all, I just wanted to give an overall general review for some of the meals we had. We will be sure to post pictures for our next order. Place is byob as well. Lastly, the menu has so much more and always takes some time to decide what to order, variety!! At some point, we love to try their Italian menu, cheesesteaks, burgers, and more salads. My husband and I stopped in and were able to get a table before the dinner rush. It was our first visit and we were blown away by the friendly staff, excellent food and fantastic prices. And it is BYOB yay!! We started off with garlic shrimp and a hunk of flaming chorizo. Huge portions and very tasty. Also excellent bread. I had filet mignon, perfectly cooked medium rare, with Spanish potatoes and broccoli. My husband had a Spanish dish of clams, pork and potatoes. Both were very delicious. Portions were large. We brought half of everything home. We will definitely go back (this time with a reservation). We were so happy to see a new restaurant in the area thriving. They deserve it. Went last night, with reservations for a party of 6 at 5 pm. Food was top-notch. Appetizers included fried calamari which was done perfectly; potato skins, which were clearly homemade; mozzarella sticks which may have been from Restaurant Depot (one had no mozzarella in it, lol, maybe under the heat lamp too long, but no harm, no foul) and the special shrimp & scallops in a cream garlic sauce. That shrimp & scallop appetizer was worth the trip and entire bill alone. Our dinners included flounder stuffed with crabmeat, which definitely was house-made and I would love to have again; the #8 Skirt steak; chicken alfredo; and 2 different kinds of filet mignon; one cooked by the chef and the one you cook on the stone yourself. Everything was outstanding. The only thing on my wishlist that couldn't be punched is a little more elbow room, but that's nothing compared to just how great the food is. I was also surprised at how briskly take-out seemed to be flying out the door; I personally would prefer to eat in-house vs. taking it home, but no one seemed to be complaining. There were 3 waitresses so 4 tables each but they seemed overwhelmed. My husband's ribs were a little dry and my Mom's steak was over cooked. Chicken Parmesan and chicken piccata were fine. I ordered the lava cake for dessert and feel misled because the "lava" was poured on top (not in the middle). It, too, was ok. I'd say overall this was an average meal. read more
