All the one star reviews are dumb the food was amazing and the little lady running the shop was as nice as could be to be doing everything

A funky name to be sure. But, awesome food! In going with a friend to a Hearing Test appointment, we decided to stop here for lunch. And, despite opening later than listed (11:10/15 vs 11:00), the food was worth waiting for. Now, my friend had planned on getting the Tamale plate, but they had taken it off the menu, as the person who made them, passed away. :-( So, we both ordered a traditional Cuban sandwich! And, I must say, it's the best Cuban sandwich that I've ever had (10 Stars)!! And, a first where they used chopped beef. I also ordered to go, Carnitas - Cuban style for tonight's dinner. But , they didn't open as posted, are no longer serving Tamales (though, a large order {2-3 dozen} can be placed 2 weeks ahead of the needed time), and the Chips and Salsa are ala cart. Even though we had to wait, a waitress was kind enough to step around the corner to let us know that they were open. And, the owner chatted with us for several minutes. Cuban style Pork Carnitas, with Rice, Cuban Black Beans, Fried Plantains, and Cooked Yucca Dinner: WOW!!! Though, I still had had the Cooked Yucca, everything was excellent! The only way it could have been better, is to have some Cuban bread. While I don't know when I'll be able to get here again, I definitely want to try their other dishes. read more

This review is for takeout only. We ordered at the restaurant, so we did get to see the cute inside. 3 Countries is very festive! Walking in, it did not feel like we were in Georgia and we loved it! They have a few tables outside under adorable café lights. Here's what we got: - 11. Pollo Cuban Style ($8.99): The BBQ chicken was delicious and fell off the bone. It was a little sweet like syrup, but in the best way possible. It came with rice, black beans, cooked yuca, and plantains. Out of all the sides, the rice was the best. I've had better plantains and the black beans and yuca were just eh. - 20. Cuban Sandwich ($7): My husband said it was amazing!! In terms of Covid, they don't require masks. The cashier was wearing a mask, but the owner's mask was below her nose and her family weren't wearing masks at all. They do have tables roped off for social distancing though. This was the best most flavorful Cuban I've had in sometime and to find it here in Macon, where quality food options are scarce blew my mind! Little hole in the wall type of ambiance but so Affordable and I had an incredible customer service experience. 3 stars for the Cuban sandwich which was nice. Another in our party ordered a rice dish with chicken and cheese. The chicken was almost minced and smelled like cat food, and the cheese was like clumps of velveeta. It was not appetizing to look at and practically inedible. I also wish the plantains were sliced thinner and not in such large chunks. Service was fine but seemed to be just one woman who seemed very frazzled and overwhelmed handling everything. read more

We were looking for something other than every day fast food we found this restaurant. It was very slow on the inside so we were a little skeptical, but the food was delicious. Absolutely loved my experience at this restaurant! It looks kind of rough on the outside but go in anyway because the food is worth it. The tortas are delicious and reasonably priced, and the Cuban sandwich is one of the best I have had outside of Miami (crisp pickles make a great Cuban sandwich!). Must have been an off day. We came during the Cherry Blossom Week and they were out of a bunch of dishes and the dishes we did get were a bit salty and nothing special. Maybe my expectations were too high because I read excellent reviews on the place. The server was cool, and as nice as he could be, but I was disappointed. I'm from Jacksonville, so it's not like I'm going to drive to Macon to come back. If in town, I'm not sure this place would be on my 'go to' list simply because I'm thinking there are so many other places to try out and I just wasn't "wowed" by this one. read more

The most popular is the Cuban sandwich. Why? It is delicious and you get to take 1/2 home or share while dining bec it is large and priced just right, Another favorite is the Ropa Vieja. Most tender pork I have EVER had. We ordered two Cuban dishes. Pork, steak, rice & beans, plantains, yucca. Everything was incredible, and cheap too. This is home cooking from another country. And it has that hole-in-the-wall feel, where you just KNOW the food is going to come out right. I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the kindness of the folks running the restaurant. We got to the restaurant maybe 30 min before close. We apologized because we hate to be those people holding up employees on a Friday night. But everyone assured us to take our time. Best Cuban sandwich I've found ever. Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. Three countries offers Mexican, Cuban, and American food, but I always stick with the Cuban and fried plantains. I've had some of their other dishes, and they are great, but the Cuban and plantains are a staple. I eat here at least once a month. read more

We ate at this restaurant for dinner. It was not that good. I got the fajita plate. The meat was not seasoned well. The plantains were good. We were the only people in the restaurant when we went. It was kind of weird because the staff acted as if they were surprised to see us. At some point, they started playing music while we were eating. It was fine until we realized it was the same song on a loop. After hearing it three or four times, it was annoying. The concept behind the restaurant is a wonderful idea but it isn't executed well. I went here for lunch one afternoon. Upon arrival, the place was empty, so I went to the counter and rang a bell. A young man ca,e out and gave us a menu, cups for our drinks, and offered us to sit anywhere we wanted. A few minutes later he came out and took our order. Good food, wonderful people, give them a try. I'm a fan of Cuban food (pretty scarce in Macon). Their congri y Puerco (Cuban rice and pork), ropa vieja (stewed beef), and imperial rice (chicken/shrimp rice casserole) specials are terrific, especially at the price. I've been to the establishment many times for breakfast, lunch, and take-out and have not been disappointed. As an affordable, lunch and take-out restaurant, they excel. What a meal! I stopped by today at a low traffic time (2:00 PM) and tried the roasted pork and was that the best decision! The pork was tender and cooked to perfection! But my absolute predilection was for those fried plantains; I needed to order a plate of those on the side. The ambiance was perfect and the hosts are charming. Finally got to try 3 countries and I'm glad that I did. Got the ropa vieja with plaintains and yuca. Didn't care for yuca which I think is similar to a potatoe? But everything else was delicious and seasoned really well. I ordered to go while on my lunch break and I was afraid that the to go portions would be small but they gave me a good bit of food! The plaintains were good they would have tasted even better if maybe the grease or whatever they cook them in had been changed. But other than that everything else was great. I am not sure why this place got high ratings but it was a major disappointment for us.. First, chips are old (i am used to chips that are freshly made) and the salsa is definitely something that came straight from a can/bottle. Second, the menu was so confusing and the servers were no help at all. Third, the food was eh, bland, and nothing to write home about. I ordered the carnitas (deep fried pork) from the Cuban menu and it was served lukewarm and didn't have the flavor I am used to. I asked for a sauce to make it palatable and even suggested some lime and salt and she offered salsa, no thank you. If you've tried authentic Cuban food you'd be disappointed here. read more

I must only imagine that those rating this as good Cuban food have never actually had Cuban food. You can find much better in Stockbridge or Bonaire, depending on what direction you want to go. Heck you can find better Cuban food at my house and I am a pasty Irish girl. The pork was basically boiled and 50% fat, white rice (huh?) was over cooked as were flavorless black beans. Also, if serving yucca as a boiled substitute for wallpaper paste, please note that on the menu. Also, I learned yucca has bones, someone should call animal planet to get it reclassified from a plant to an animal. As far a Mexican food , throw a stone anywhere in Macon and you will hit better Mexican food. I wish I could give points for service but that was lacking too.
