I was shopping my way down Hawthorne and stopped into this store to have a look. This review is speaking as a shopper; most of the complaints here seem to be from sellers. It's definitely a more curated thrift store so expect a little bit higher prices. They organized the store by style of clothing so that's fun, but it can still take a search to find what you're looking for. They have a few dressing rooms and not a lot of places to sit to try on shoes. Looking them up later, they're a national chain but this is their only PNW location. They have an online shop so I'd assume the best items go there for highest price. read more

I verbally stated to the staff that they need training on unconscious racial bias and cultural competence (afterthought: and fashion). When I entered the store, I checked the windows to see if there were any policies posted about bags. No signs were present. I entered the store. I was not greeted by staff, and started browsing the selections. A minute later, I was asked to put my bag away. The lag in response makes me wonder if staff were communicating with each other about my arrival. Nevertheless, I said "sure" and threw my Longchamp and Nordstrom bags across the counter. A security guard was sent to the front of the store and remained there the whole time I was in the store. I noticed that two other patrons were allowed to carry tote bags - definitely classified as carry ons by Southwest Airlines. I thought to myself "Hold up. Wait a minute. Why does this patron get to keep their bag?" If there is a company policy for bags as the employees stated, it needs to be clearly posted and consistently followed so that there is no room for misunderstandings. I am a petite, 4'11", 100 pound African American female (with an impeccable sense of fashion). I am also aware of how structural racism impacts unconscious bias in the shopping industry. This experience was the antithesis of my experience browsing the designer shoe section in Nordstrom at Pioneer Square today...You lost a customer who would have irresponsibly spent her money here. I came here to sell, & got ripped off hard. Sold here for the first time, immediately regret it. Will never be back. Their selling process is drop off, and come back when they call you, so you don't know what they're buying or for how much. I dropped off a big bag of stuff and had a little bit left to take back when I was done. I don't recall exactly everything they chose to buy from my haul, but I am 100% for certain they "took" the following: 3 flannels 1 vintage vest 6 jeans 2 joggers 2 shorts 3 pairs of shoes For $17 and some change. (Sellers beware) This place is embarrassing. I waited around for almost 2 hours while they looked through my stuff. When it came time to go over what they were buying from me the associate showed me an itemized receipt and let's just say I was extremely disappointed with the offers they presented me. They wanted to buy about 10-20 items including: - A pair of Ann Demeulemeester leather pants brand new with tags ($2590 retail price) (I originally had multiple pairs of which I had sold for no less than $700 a pair on grailed - they offered me $45) - Rare vintage 1960's Levi's 501 Big E's (I was offered $30) - A rare 90's band tee (they offered me $8) - A pair of designer cargo pants that retailed for over $700 that were brand new with tags. (They offered me about $35) Plus multiple other brand new designer items(including pieces from Undercover and Rick Owens as well as some other rare vintage). Overall they offered me $220 for everything. I couldn't help but feel like they were either really uneducated or they were trying to swindle me. I don't feel great supporting a business that seemingly takes advantage of sellers who provide them with quick and easy access to product. I wasn't expecting to get anywhere close to what the retail price or even market price is for these items as I understand they have to make a profit, but their offers are genuinely insulting. I'd skip out on selling to this place unless you're feeling charitable. read more

This place is scamming Portland HARD. When they first opened up they paid really good for clothes when you brought them in to sell. Now I see it was all just a gimmick to get people in the door. Ooooooh, I like it! I was bopping down SE Hawthorne with a friend, checking out all of the resale shops when I saw for the first time 2nd Street. I was kind of over shopping but we decided to still pop in, and I'm so glad that we did. This shop is wholly in another category than the others we visited, and I'll be back on the regular. The selection here is HUGE, and just as importantly it's well curated and organized. In addition to the regular sections of just racks and racks of t-shirts, they also have areas that are organized by designer. Lots of big names here, including streetwear and Japanese designers. Be warned: this is not a thrift store. While you'll definitely find some deals, they also have rare items that are going for high dollar prices. But that's fashion for ya. As I said, I was a little shopped out by the time I got here, so I didn't dig in too deeply. That being said I did leave with I think 4 shirts that came to a total of $50. I really look forward to returning and seeing what else that I can find. read more

I wouldn't recommend selling clothes here, but I have found some gems at a great price. Got a couple pairs of pants and a couple shirts for a total under $50, which was great value in my opinion. My experience selling to them is quite the opposite. I've brought in bags of clothes - some items that have been only worn once - and they offered me literally pennies for them. Overall I'd give this place a decent rating. It's worth checking out imo. If you spend time in there you'll be able to find some good pieces for good prices. read more

sweetest employees. Manager .. gal with the bangs and short bob .. you know who you are .. you adorable kind human . All the staff here are SO welcoming and kind and seem genuinely happy to be there. Store is super clean and a lot of selection. I got a dress and top for 13 bucks :) cheaper than some thrift stores. My only bummer is that it was hard for my partner to shop as nothing is arranged by size and he's a broader taller guy. Any chance you will start organizing by size ???? Please ??? Okay, so I come at this with a specific perspective as someone who buys, sells, and trades clothes independently myself, but everything here is so insanely overpriced that it's borderline comical. It's kind of cool to see some stuff in person that's hard to find off of the internet, so I do give points for that, but there is very little reason to buy any of the "higher end" options here, and those higher end options are definitely the most interesting part of their selection. When I tried to sell clothing here they asked for my ID and wrote down my drivers license ID number and issue date as well as my name and phone number on a slip of receipt paper. There was no spot on the slip which prompted the employee to write down any other information besides my name and phone number. He took this additional info on his own. After hearing it was a 90 minute wait time I decided to skip it and go somewhere else. I asked the employee -"Angel" on the receipt- for the slip with my DL info back since there was no reason for them so have any of my info now that I was not using their service. He was resistant and kept saying "no we keep this part" and was arguing with me about it. After I finally took it back he said "we'll I would have just thrown it away back here". Likely story. I felt very uncomfortable that he gave me so much pushback over returning my personal information. Overall DONT GO HERE unless you want your personal info stolen. read more

If I could give it NO ratings I would! 2 things: brought a bounty of clothes for the 1st time to this place (someone told me to go there vs crossroads where I've been before). My clothing was Anthropologie clothing, Nike, all saints, citizen jeans,...in excellent condition....After waiting 45 min I was told that For all my clothing that they all took except for some more winter items I would get $136....I couldn't believe it so when asking how they figured out the amount they said AG denim, they gave me $1!!!! I was floored....needless to say took all of it back or I thought I did but seems that they kept clothing from me....Nike items somehow where no longer in my pile when I got home! Took half the amount of clothing to crossroads and got $286!!!!! So, either they are ignorant at 2nd street or they scam you, not sure which one it is but would never recommend it! As I was waiting, I was dumb to purchase a shirt to realize when I got home it had a hole in it that was hidden by the hard tag that was attached to it! read more

poor customer service, overpriced items, disorganized sales floor and rips off sellers- my boyfriend and I went to sell a few items here that we had left after our consignment trip on Hawthrone. We waited 40 minutes after being told it would only take 10-15 mins for them to begin looking at our items. 30 minutes go by and we began to wait up front after seeing customers with much larger loads get paid out. Managment then proceeded to go through our items after feeling my stink eye..we were offered $2 and donation services..after 40 minutes. there was no check in from floors team the entire time we spent in store. go to crossroads honestly, at least the atmosphere is better read more

This used to be my favorite curated thrift store in portland. I was super stoked about a hat I bought from there and did a search on Google. I could have bought it brand new for $60 but I bought it used for $89. I get it if something is sold out to up price it, but how can you up price something that's still being sold? Fucking joke. Tried to sell my 17 items plus my Neiman Marcus bag at 2nd street and the total was 9 dollars. You probably couldn't even buy anything at this store for 9 dollars. That's two dollars per item. Each clothing item I had offered could easily been resold for 20 dollars. Would not recommend selling at this store unless you're okay with getting ripped off. They tried to take lightly used cdg converse, doc martins, and brand new Levi's with tags for $20 total. If you just want to get rid of stuff and don't care how much $ you get, this is your place. The selling rate is vague and not good. You get a higher percentage if they buy it for a higher price. Examples I got were: $100+ items you would get 50% $19 you get $4 $5 you get $.50 So yeah, you'd probably be better off going elsewhere for better selling rates, but they did not seem to be picky about what they bought here as they took everything. I had 3 large bags packed with decent stuff and netted $125 -_- That probably averaged out to about $2 per item of clothing. There is no higher trade option either, just cash. The store itself is cool and has a good selection. I definitely won't be back to sell, but I will be back to buy. read more
