I was desperate to find a place I could drop off a black suit to be ready for a family funeral. The…read morefuneral would require some unalterable travel, therefore, an exact time existed for which it had to be ready on an upcoming Monday. It was already later on a Saturday afternoon in July 2020 when the virus was rising and affecting businesses differently, making it essential to make real, old-fashioned phone calls. It was my only option, other than driving around everywhere, or depending on oft-erroneous times posted online, to suss out hours of operation during this devastating time. I called four other dry cleaning establishments in the Rochester Hills area before I landed at this GEM of a business. That Saturday, I walked in the Martinizing location, not calling the fifth establishment of the day, because I happened to be running errands right near the place. They had an "open" sign, clearly visible. The woman who greeted me, and I will return to find out her name, made me feel calm and relaxed and cared about. I have no idea how she did it, because I gave her little information to go on, but she took the facts I did give her and from that, made me feel warm. That's the most important part of this, besides that the place was COVID-19 regulation complaint. It was a pleasant surprise after having researched four other places for dry cleaning that afternoon, that they were the first to have regular Sunday hours. Additionally, they were open until 7PM Monday, which was helpful and accommodating to my schedule. The man who assisted me at pick up had a similar professionalism that the woman possessed, and adjusted to my level of friendliness and talkative, or not-so-talkative, nature and moods. Impeccable manners. I noticed and appreciated this. The reason I am writing this review though, and investing my time and energy to do this as a single mom of two teenagers, is because the woman with whom I dropped the suit off on Saturday, responded to my situation with the funeral when I brought up COVID-19, and she opened up with information about losses that other local business people nearby had experienced. She was sensitive to my situation, and simultaneously, not overly emotional. She was genuine and cared about the community in general and the business community around her. Nothing about the exchange was political. She was a good human being. It showed. She had restraint and when I opened up, she did just enough. It shined because she had a heart for this community. I hope she sees this because it's wonderful to have renewed faith in humankind when you come across genuine caring, not just some social media like or dopamine hit off a heart icon. The dry cleaning was perfect. I wish I had photos, but it was for a funeral and so it wasn't that kind of an event. I will exclusively maintain my dry cleaning at this location in Rochester Hills.

I didn't pay any attention when I picked them up. I have always had great work done. Well, she came home from school to work and the pant lengths were a 2 inch difference. I took them back to them in January. I had to argue with the woman that I had them done there until she looked up our account and saw they were done there. So she finally said ok, but then was going to charge me again. I said no way! You will fix what you guys did wrong. She finally wrote in my receipt zero. She said it would be at least a week to fix I said no worries. I picked them up 3 weeks later with them not fixed. The same woman proceeded to tell me I had not had them done there. After arguing with her she called the owner. Long story short with the owner he said he was not going to fix them. My question was why hadn't someone called me when they decided they were not going to hem them. Yes, they have my phone number. They were just sorry! Really!? Needless to say. I will not be back. And I normally do not do this but I sincerely hope others consider not going there. i was accused of hemming them myself and having them done elsewhere. I do not know how many years I have been going to this cleaner but it has been a long time. I live in the area and have for over 25 years. I WILL NOT be back. Terrible customer service!

Some sort of white fur or lint all over and I mean all over it. I didn't realize it until I put it on and the smell around the large collar was so awful I couldn't wear it. I took it off and tried washing it. The lint is somehow threaded into the sweater. How they ruined it to this level is beyond me!! Also, my cushion covers for my child's glider were destroyed. They weren't even washed just white blotchy spots all over!! Honestly, I want to cry!!!!!!!! This dry cleaners is not cheap either they charged me $44.00 to clean 3 small cushion covers that you would see on a rocking/glider chair. I'm just very very disappointed. Now it's more like two or three times a year for my consulting business. I read the care tag on the shirt and actually thought about washing and drying the shirt at home but that would then require ironing it myself...so, not happening. So I put the shirt in my car and was imagining it being driven around for months before I remembered to finally drop it off at a dry cleaners. So while I was sitting at a red light I happened to look across the intersection and saw Custom Village Cleaners. This was not news to me by as I drive past Custom Village Cleaners two or three times every week on my way to check the PO Box. I just hadn't consciously thought about where to take my shirt. I decided this was a sign so I pulled into the parking lot, grabbed my shirt, and went in. I was greeted immediately and asked how much it would be to have a dress shirt cleaned and was told two dollars...sounded like a deal to me. This was Thursday late afternoon; she asked if there was any hurry for it and I said no. So it would be ready anytime on Saturday. I went back Saturday and was again greeted immediately, I presented my ticket and she retrieved my shirt, clean and bagged and on a hangar. They have a sign if you are in a hurry that says "In by 11 out by 4" that is good to know. And I like to support neighborhood businesses that do a good job so this worked out well.
