Incredibly unethical and demoralizing experience working with this agency. After they reached out and recruited ME for a role, I decided to leave a stable job to take a chance on a better opportunity (or so I thought) with a small company that did a great sales pitch on me. Working as a contractor with the agency was very unpleasant. The benefits are terrible and nearly nonexistent, and communication is just as bad. They also work with untrustworthy clients. The job I was hired for lost some accounts and decided they couldn't afford me, so they let me go after only 2 months on the contract. It was promised to be 6 months to perm. After the experience, 24 Seven claimed they wanted to make it right by helping me find a new opportunity, but I basically got radio silence after the contract was terminated. Do not waste your time. She did not respond to my inquiry, but sent me the listing THREE more times. After repeated calls, none of which were returned, I decided not to continue with this organization. I used to request freelancers from this agency. One of the contractors they sent told me that they had never actually been to the agency and hadn't even been interviewed over the phone. This is after the agency told me that this individual was highly recommended and warranted a higher rate than any other contractor they could send. I was always told by the agency that contractors were highly scrutinized and guaranteed. In reality, they were as concerned about sending a warm body to fill the position as they were about the skills, ability and commitment of that individual. Also of note: The agency pays their freelancers 49% to 69% less than they charge clients. I am now on the other end -- I've registered with the agency for freelance work. I did so for two reasons: They are the only creative industry placement agency in the Bay area and also because I wanted to get the full picture before writing them off. I have since found that all of my previous ideas were accurate! I will delete this posting, or amend it, if I ever find different! Anyone thinking of working freelance should certainly try to make their own connections and get their own business license (so that they may operate as an independent contractor). It would be great if someone would open a creative agency to give them some competition. It might whip them into shape!! read more

You are basically signing away your working rights for up to A YEAR AFTER you have discontinued your service through them. I had the misfortune to learn this first hand. This is not a terrible agency, but they simply do not understand a lot of local industries or possess the ability to accurately assess skills that aren't among the usual straight-forward career tracks. I came here looking specifically for game dev placement and was shuffled to a recruiter they promised was a good fit (i.e. the nerdiest of the bunch). Turns out she was mostly interested in sourcing my network connections, and quit the agency soon after to accept a role with a local game co. Awesome. In the end, I did accept one assignment from this agency - which was in another industry entirely, but worth at least trying. The onboarding process was painless and the rep I was reassigned was actually quite nice. The main negatives were A) I was sent the wrong job description and hired on to a different role than the one I interviewed for, B) the client wasn't great and C) the agency repeatedly wanted me to travel (over an hour) to their SF office for unimportant administrative tasks. In the end, it was radio silence from 24seven once I left the assignment. I think they do better with people looking for a different type of job and employer. read more

I am a graphic designer, illustrator and animator, with 8+ years experience having worked for Nickelodeon, The Food Network, Publicis, etc. in New York City, and found my experience at 24 Seven in SF to be better than other major creative agencies here. I was originally told 24 Seven was primarily for the fashion industry, so I never thought to contact them. Their agent Kate Gilman actually contacted me about an animation gig, after finding my portfolio online. Traditional 2D animation is my degree, and this opportunity involved pencil-on-paper animation which is rare these days. I decided to sign on with 24 Seven as a result. Their office is on a building floor with art galleries and studios, and the office itself is very designer and has a laid back vibe. This stood out from other creative agencies I signed on with locally, which were more business-like. It said a lot about where their priorities are in looking for creative talent. Kate was very friendly, complimented what she liked about my work and eased my worries in finding a job (this was early 2010, still in the thick of the recession). The opportunities they had for me came more frequently than other agencies I signed on with, and had been involved with for about a year prior. I'm now working a full time design gig they (Caroline) found for me, which I am happy to do after going crazy freelancing on my own through the recession. Sure, to make it on your own and completely run your own show is a dream come true for most creative people. For someone like me though, paying off heavy student loan debts, paying rent in the city, doing my own projects on the side and preferring to keep my work experiences diverse, this agency definitely helps me sleep better at night. read more

I've been employed through 24 Seven for over a year now and am genuinely perplexed by some of the negative reviews. I was actually recruited through a Craigslist ad and placed in a lucrative position at a very large company that, in all likelihood, I wouldn't have had access to without an intermediary like 24 Seven. What they have to recommend them as your recruiting agency: close connections to very large, very recognizable brands (call them resume-builders), attentive agents who communicate to management and HR in your interest, high wage requirements for their "talent" (you), email alerts for jobs that match your stated skill set, and weekly direct deposit paychecks. They also have mini benefits packages that you can opt-in to and holiday pay. They have the possibility of sick pay as well, but the rules are a little bit individual to cases and you need to communicate with your agent about it. I don't frequent their office, but it's pleasant, and I have a close email relationship with most of the staff there. They *will* take care of you--all you need to do is reach out--and they *will* check up on you to make sure you're treated well, fairly, and legally. So, it's not a scam, it's a recruitment agency with international reach that has been nothing but good to me. I'm very happy in my position and in their service. read more

I have been employed through 24 Seven as a contractor for over 3 months, and this week I just transitioned to a regular, full-time, permanent employee. I would not have found this job (working for an amazing company) if 24 Seven hadn't approached me with the opportunity. Some tips for those not having the best experience: -Be responsive! If someone from 24 Seven emails you about a position you are interested in, DO NOT WAIT to email them back. I found the most success in emailing back RIGHT AWAY. -Be open minded. I had no idea I was going to love the job they emailed me about, but I figured I would give it a try. Now, I have a whole new career path ahead of me. -Stay positive! They aren't miracle workers. You need to put in the work by applying for jobs on their website, keeping your resume up to date, emailing them, and nailing the interviews. After an internship did not pan out, I was recommended by a friend to sign up for 24 Seven. I registered on their site on 6/20 and two hours later I get a response from Talent Coordinator Erica who set up an an in-person interview the next day. I found this impressive as other recruiting agencies I signed up for have still not contacted me as of today. The next day Zoe greeted me in the office and helped with additional paperwork before I met with Jr. Account Manager Rachel. Rachel asked fact-finding questions regarding my previous experiences and what I was looking to do. Prior to the end of the interview she cautioned I may not hear from her on a daily basis but she would try to check in with me at least once a week and boy did she! Forward to a month later, I heard from Talent Acquisition-er Taylor stating she received my resume from Rachel and thought I might be a good fit for a position she was trying to fill the only catch was that interviews were starting the next day (I had about 16 hrs before the interview). Although I was nervous about my preparation time, I went with it. Taylor provided me with all that I needed for my interview. It was a group interview and I with three other applicants interviewed with 5 department heads of the company. Four hours passed and I got a call from Taylor stating I got the position! All that needed to be done was the standard background and drug screening. Erica, Zoe, Rachel and Taylor have been a joy to work with whether it be over the phone, through email or in-person. I was looking for a role in luxury retails and a friend introduced me to 24Seven. I took action by submitting my resume through its website right away. Within 24 hours, I got contacted by the company and a week later, I met with Brooke for an interview. We discussed and shared some ideas and she told me right on spot she would have me interview with a wold class company that might be a great fit for my profile. Though, I was looking for a permanent position but I was open enough to take risk on a seasonal gig just to put my foot into the luxury world. I went for an interview with the store GM and the next day they told me I got the job. Then after roughly a month and a half the company offered me the permanent position!!!! It was flawless!!! My experience with Brooke and everyone at 24Seven was nothing but GREAT. They always very responsive and helpful. I even now sometimes get contacts from them just to stay in touch. They have always been having my back. Having said all of this though folks, you cannot blame on others for not having a job. End of the day it's your full responsibility. All I can say is that Yvonne at the SF office is a sweetheart, she is always on top of anything to do with paperwork and payroll. I've been employed with 24 Seven for more than 6 months now as a contractor and just landed a permanent position at the company I'm currently working at! I wouldn't be here right now if it was for them. Everyone I've worked with-Jennifer, Abbey, Zoe, and Amber- have all been so friendly and a pleasure to work with! They are very responsive to phone calls, emails and really try their best to make sure their clients are happy :) As far as landing the gig, 24 Seven was very motivating when I was losing hope that I'd find something I would enjoy. If you don't mind doing temp or contract work, it is definitely worth it to either just get your feet wet within certain roles or it might turn into something more. Sometimes you might have to follow up with them in the beginning because they could busy working with other clients so it's nice to just send a friendly reminder that you are still interested. If you are looking for a new career in retail or for any freelance opportunities, I highly recommend 24 Seven!! I was first contacted by Sharon from the LA office and she was great! She set me up to meet with Zoe here in San Francisco the very next day to speak about a couple of job opportunities they thought I would be a good fit for. After Zoe explained to me about an opportunity with a new store opening up downtown, I was very excited. Unprofessional. I've been submitting applications to different companies through job boards for the past few months and was wondering how so many of 24 Seven's recruiters got my info... it seems like some of them post job listings themselves in order to collect your email, phone, resume, etc. (Tip - stick to applying directly through companies' websites; save yourself this hassle.) One of their recruiters ("Megan") called me, unsolicited, while I was at work, saying she had seen my resume and portfolio and had the perfect position for me. The job she described fit my skillset and would've been a step up from my current job, so I decided to give it a chance and agreed to have her call me back in an hour to discuss further. I waited around for half an hour past the time she'd decided on, got fed up, redialed the number, and was put back in touch with "Megan"... who didn't remember me at first. Okay. Then she said she was "just about to call (me)!". Okay. I asked for more details about that job she'd described. She weaseled around with vagueries for a bit and then asked me if I could show her my resume and portfolio... which, per our earlier conversation, were what had supposedly made her reach out to me in the first place. Yikes. She eventually admitted that the job she'd mentioned an hour prior wasn't available, and that she wasn't aware of any jobs that would match my qualifications (probably because she had no idea what I even do!). Regardless, "Megan" still kept trying to get information from me to add to their database, even after I told her I wasn't interested. The negative reviews here are all in line with my experience with all of 24 Seven's recruiters. I haven't encountered anyone from this agency who actually understands the differences between specializations in my field, which is crucial when it comes to job hunting - you'll have much more success searching by yourself, and you'll also avoid their shady tactics and obnoxious cold-calling. In the past month I've gotten dozens of emails and five phone calls at all hours from different 24 Seven recruiters, most of whom don't even know what I do or what kind of job I'm looking for. This review was prompted by the most recent email, which asked me whether I'd be interested in a career as a full-stack web dev, or as a print production artist, or maybe as a B2B presentation coordinator for an apparel manufacturer? 24 seven is most definitely not a "scam" as someone said below. I worked with Taylor and Zoe and they really went to bat for me with the position that I currently have. I felt that they genuinely wanted what was best for me and understood where I was coming from. All of this they did over Christmas break although not the most convenient time of year. Once I got the position they actually sent me flowers to congratulate me - I couldn't believe they were so thoughtful. I would recommend this establishment to any and all who are looking for a position in the corporate retail world. I dislike being negative in reviews but this has to be said. I'm starting to believe that most job agencies don't know the difference between production artist and graphic designer. Sometimes they combine the two together. That's okay but there's still a *huge* difference between a graphic designer and a production artist. I've been with 24 Seven for several years and have placed me in two jobs over six years. These jobs lasted only a few days and consisted of me resizing images and placing them into folders on servers. They told me these job were for the web when they weren't. They were product placement in a catalog that the public wouldn't even see. I also believe that these recruiters have no design background what-so-ever so they have no clue what to look for when it comes to freelancers and their skill level. How do they know this freelancer doesn't have the skill even though you just assume they don't? It's as if they overlook your resume, portfolio, Linked-In, and everything else you give them. I just feel like another number and not a person with actual skills. Additionally, some of the recruiters are really defensive and unprofessional. One recruiter thought I asked her something when it was her own email that she was looking at, and accused me for it. I was confused why she was referring to her email then she continuously accused me. I didn't get it. You know your own skill level and where you stand in your industry, so you're better off looking for a job on your own and at your own level. read more

I had a GREAT experience with the 24 recruiters in LA but when I transferred up to SF for my husbands job I reached out to them to freelance. I was assigned to Brooke and by far she is the worst recruiter I have ever dealt with. She is very flaky and unprofessional. I would get a call saying she had a day job for me and that she would call me back with the address and then I would never hear back from her. This happened multiple times until I just went out and found my own freelance work. After getting a few jobs on my own I talked with colleagues that had the exact same experience with Brooke when arriving to SF and reaching out to 24. I am a very experienced designer working for companies such as Old Navy, Gap, Volcom, Billabong etc...so me being qualified was not the issue..haha **Definitely would not recommend this company for any real design/creative work in the Bay Area, you would be better off finding it on your own! One interview, the recruiter told me that the employer would like to hire me and asked what salary would I accept? I told her the amount and the recruiter name Tebow (L.A. office) said she would get back to me but never did, never answer my calls; it was few years' back. Never heard from them again, but then out of the blue they will contact me again and as to send an updated resume, again never hear from them again. No phone calls, nor do they answer my calls. The same situation in San Francisco, I don't know why they would do that. Again, out of the blue, I get another email asking me if I am looking for work, again, disappeared. I gave up on this agency. I never write reviews, but in this case it deserves one. I am Director level on the agency side and reached out to 24 Seven to see if they felt comfortable helping me make the transition to client side. I listed the marketing roles I was looking for. Instead of calling me to talk me through the process they take to help people find the ideal role which is what any smart company would do, an account manager called Genea Sobel called me to talk me through a role ON the agency side without even walking me through anything to do with how they work with clients at 24 Seven. Genea knew nothing about the job even though it was a really senior role (didn't even know if the company was publicly or privately owned, hello?) and when I questioned her on why she knew so little, she said it's been hard to get the information from the company leads with the time difference (hello, they are in the UK and on email and you took the brief from them???). During the 30 minute phone call she spoke so quickly and asked me no questions. It was seriously like a comedy skit. Genea sent my resume to the agency who's role we discussed and never even followed up with me on anything! I have absolutely no idea what she did. I then followed up to see if someone more senior could reach out to me and they arranged for a Director to call me. Kate didn't call at the scheduled time so I reached out to the nice coordinator who sets the interviews up to say that I wasn't interested in working with 24 Seven. It is amazing to me that this kind of management would be totally shunned upon in the business world and these people are in SALES getting a commission on your salary!! I'll be job hunting on my own thanks. I'm pretty sure I can do more research and reach out to more people in LinkedIn and get more done by myself without paying someone like these fools to do nothing but annoy me. read more

Got in touch with these people 6 weeks before the gig was due to start.had to spend a day in downtown Seattle waiting for the "interview" which was a group meeting to tell us what we had been assigned for the big "Oprah" day. I was given my job, then told to wait for a package which would explain everything necessary to know for the event. 2 weeks before the scheduled date, I began leaving messages with Brenna, to let her know i had not received any directions. Finally, 4 days before the event , i was told that the position i had been assigned, was taken and I could "work in retail," if I so wished. I lost a job opportunity because of 24 Seven. They reached out to me about an interesting position and started the interview process. In the middle of setting up the second round of interviews, all communication stopped. As a learned later, the person who handled the position on the 24 Seven side left the company, but no one took over. I had to remind them to schedule the second round. After going through the second round of interviews, 24 Seven never informed me of the outcome, which is highly unprofessional. In my entire career, I've never had a company or recruiter leave me hanging like this, regardless of wether the interview was successful or not. This was especially frustrating because I was genuinely interested in the position and took time out of my life to go through two long rounds of interviews. I don't recommend 24 Seven to anyone because they will waste your time and won't get you a job. read more
