I can't believe this place hasn't been reviewed yet! 22 Below is quite easy to miss - just off Regent Street, opposite Liberty and next to the London Palladium. If you see a place called Cafe Libre, it's down the stairs just to the left of it.
It's a small, cosy bar, quirky 60s-style video loops, and it's fairly quiet with an inoffensive music selection. As such, it's a nice space for a more intimate evening. Decor is quite amusing - a selection of famous hats on the wall, fake grass floor and an oversized birdcage on the bar.
The cocktail menu is very creative with prices being pretty standard (£7-9) which isn't bad, considering the area. They also do a number of specials too, so look out for those. There are a number of interesting cocktails: the clove-laden, rum-based 'One-Eyed Willy"; lemongrass and coconutty "Thai Sorbet"; refreshing "Catch 22"; also a chilli-laden orange special.
It's never been rammed when I've been in. There's not a lot of space though, so it's worth going earlier on in the evening (Happy Hour) or midweek. ...the location, price, and cocktail selection make it one of my favourite places in Central London. read more
