Last March I went in for a Maine State Inspection and was told I needed my steering rack replaced…read moreand a rear enforcement bumper. He was quoting $2,500+ for the steering rack and $553+ for the bumper reinforcement. I took my car to three other reputable shops in the Portland area. I was quoted $337 for the bumper reinforcement with OEM part, and the repair man even told my father and I that we could replace it ourselves because my father was able to remove the bumper cover himself. The other shops I went to told me I only needed my inner tie rod replaced including a wheel alignment. I got this repair done for $220 dollars and my car drives great. It is a 2013 Honda CRV with 70,000 miles that has never had issues on the road. The one difference between going to Carter's and going to the other repair shops is that I went ALONE (without my father) to Carter's a as young woman. I remember when I dropped my keys off at Carter's and the man at the desk called me "sweety." Unprofessional and patronizing. Carters is deceitful, greedy, and untrustworthy. Do not come here unless you want to get taken advantage of.

We are very satisfied with the work done to our service van…read more We really needed a brake job, on a tall Transit van, Stopped in because they are next door to our new location and have a high overhead door. The estimate was accurate, communication was very good with other issues found while working on it, the van was returned on time and cleaner than when we dropped it off. This was our first experience with Horsepower, we found them to be very professional, knowlegeable and accomodating. thank you

I hadn't used Autowerks in 10-12 years after buying SUVs from them; however due to the increased…read morelabor costs and overhead costs BMW passes on to the consumer, I decided to try Autowerks again. It was a great experience: convenience of a loaner, on-time service, honest review of service needed and what should be done soon. The difference being that the dealer seemed to upcharge on what is needed and what coud be done. Their overhead charges and labor costs were extreme as well. That said, Autowerks charges a fair amount on labor and additional "Phantom" time did not appear on my bill. Give them a try.

Then they replaced a part on the wrong side of the car. She contacted them and explained this. They said that that was on them and they would make it right. She made the appointment to do this. She waited a whole month for this appointment. When she contacted them to confirm this appointment and to see if they could also replace something else at the same visit Cam was very rude and said it was her word against his and that she never specified which side to put the part on. Total BS!! Buyer beware!!! Also if you leave a bad review on their Facebook page they block you!! Lol!! How childish!! Great reaction to someone's honest review!!

I've been going to these guys for years and, honestly, I'll never go anywhere else for my car…read moreissues. I get my annual inspection here, I get my new tires here, but most importantly: I get things fixed here when other mechanics have messed something up on my car. Which has happened three times in the past two years! The most recent example: an auto body shop didn't put all the lugnuts back on my tire, and they didn't tighten the lugnuts they did put on after working my vehicle. I drove around, unaware of this, for weeks. When I went to get my inspection sticker, I recreated the strange noises coming from my tire (SIDE NOTE: they never laugh at me when I do this; I've seen other customers do it to them too ["thump, thump, thump" or "SCREEEEE"] and they take it very seriously). When they looked, they were appalled. They tightened lugnuts, added lugnuts, and checked my alignment for free because of how dangerous a situation it could have been (like... I was miles away from my tire falling off my car). When they told me (multiple times) my car was safe, I believed them. I always believe them. They have never led me astray. They're reliable, competent, considerate, friendly, patient, and have great senses of humor. One time I had to have SO MUCH work done on my car, they didn't want to say how much it would cost out loud so they wrote it on a paper and slid it over to me like we were in a movie. I've been offered ice cream, coffee, rides if I needed to be somewhere. But most importantly? I've been offered the best of humanity. (Nearly every single time I'm here, an elderly person stops in to ask if they could put air in their tires. And they do it immediately. For free.) Thanks for making me (and so many others) feel seen and heard, folks! Your customer service is unlike any other.
