An ice cream shop named after the constitutional amendment that ended Prohibition? Um...Yes! With a theme like that, I had to try the apple whiskey ice cream while I was in Apple Valley. When did Apple Valley get hip? The cookies-and-cream scone made for a great breakfast, the owners were incredibly friendly, and they even sell used kids' books for 50 cents. Super super stoked to have found this gem in the desert!! It's so inviting!! Not only do they have an assortment of delicious treats, sweets and bread, but they have sodas and coffee! It was really hard for me to choose what to get, but I went with coffee cake (after looking at other reviews), blueberry and cheese danish, cookies and cream scone and a carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting. So far I've only eaten the coffee cake while I've been enjoying the outdoor seating area and the ambience and the coffee & coffee cake were enough to make me want to leave a solid review!! Everything is affordable and I can't remember the last time I truly felt that way in recent times. Come support this local business and feel the value of your dollar for yourself and your community. I genuinely do not understand how this place was voted "Best in the High Desert." My experience here was absolutely horrible, and I will NEVER return. I walked in with my children and immediately felt unwelcome. The husband and wife both gave us dirty looks when we came in, and the entire interaction felt cold, rude, and uncomfortable. What really bothered me was watching how completely different their attitude was toward the white customers who came in. They were friendly, welcoming, and pleasant with them, while the treatment we received was noticeably different. I don't throw the word racism around lightly, but when the difference in treatment is that obvious, I'm going to call it out. I should not have to walk into a local bakery with my children and wonder why we are being treated like we don't belong there while watching other customers receive smiles and kindness. And unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience either. We were extremely disappointed with what we purchased and did not think it was good at all. Between the poor customer service, the uncomfortable atmosphere, and the disappointing food, I honestly cannot understand the hype surrounding this place or how it earned "Best in the High Desert." There are far too many businesses in the High Desert that appreciate their customers and treat EVERYONE who walks through their doors with basic kindness and respect. The food here is ridiculously good. We got the s'mores cupcake, carrot cake cupcake, caramel apple cinnamon roll and a boozy gingerbread icecream and I could rave about each and every one. The carrot cupcake is spiced perfectly, a large portion but moist all the way through, home made cream cheese frosting was delicious. The s'mores cupcake had marshmallow fluff on top that was torched just right, and Graham cracker on the bottom that somehow didn't completely fall out when I opened it up. Again,it is MOIST cake, and the chocolate came through. The gingerbread icecream (Christmas in July) was delightful, the man serving me said it may go soft faster because of the alcohol but I didn't notice because I ate it so quickly. I have yet to eat my cinnamon roll but only because I'm so full from everything else, my one regret is not taking pictures of the cupcakes because they're so pretty. It's a big roll, I tried using my hand for scale but it doesn't quite do it justice. It's got great ambiance, a cute little place with a bubbly young gal running the counter. Apparently they've only been open about a year and I hope it's the first of many, it's an instant classic. I really had high hopes for this newly opened bakery. Perhaps I should have visited on another day other than a Sunday. There were a few items in the bakery case that looked promising. However, two slightly burned peach turnovers probably should not have been put out on display. I chose a glazed Butterscotch Crescent and a Blueberry Scone to try. The Butterscotch Crescent has a filling of brown sugar and coconut which tasted good but was very sweet. The thick glaze on the roll had a pronounced maple flavor. The roll itself had laminated layers but the texture was rather dry and hard. It was disappointing. The Blueberry Scone looked promising but, like the Butterscotch Crescent, was dry and airy in texture, indicative of an overmixed batter. The tiny blueberries did not have much flavor at all. So very disappointing. The dining area, however, looked inviting if one were to stay and enjoy the baked goods or ice cream on the premises. The owners were very personable and friendly. I might return some other time to this bakery to try again since I may have just come at an off time. read more

Got a Loaf of their Sourdough ... REALLY REALLY GOOD, highly recommend. Got some of their Ice Creams ... both the Alcohol infused and non ... REALLY GOOD, highly recommend as well. Only thing, they NEED to get a Bread slicer, it's a huge heavy loaf of Sourdough and cutting it at home wasn't the easiest, doable but would have been better if the served it cut. Otherwise great Family run business that can hopefully make it long term, we've been back once and will keep coming and have told others to go check them out, very much worth the trip! I'd been watching this new business preparing to open and serve the community. It finally did open a couple months ago, so I decided to try it out. First, it's hard to tell if they're open. The signage is not very visible and if you don't drive in the parking lot you might think it's closed. They said they're working on it. I hope they do. Now, I went in with excitement, hoping that it's even better than I expected. I looked around and decided to buy one of all they had available, which was about 6 items. It came to a little under $20, which is a good deal for fresh baked treats. None of them really knocked me off my feet, but they were good and tasty. I figured they'd only been open a couple of days and will get all the baking schedules and help figured out. All in all, the first visit was nice, and I wanted to come back and see if they had any other items I could try. I went back again, but the baker had taken sick the night before and they had a minimal selection. I just bought cookies and they were ok. I'll try again later I said to myself. I went a third time and the baker was there. It was still a minimal selection. She said she's still trying to figure the scheduling for baking and the help she needs. I was in the bakery business for 34 years and I know what she's talking about. However, she did have a muffin that I hadn't tried, so I bought 1 of each item again, about $20. I went for the new item first, a Raspberry Muffin. WHOA! Very moist, not too sweet, with the taste of raspberry pleasant but not over powering. This was good!! I almost went back and bought the rest. Also, the cinnamon roll was not iced but very good. I ate that one the next day and it was still moist and tasty! Kudos to Kayleen the Baker for a job well done. If the baker can maintain a consistency in her baking, supply enough product for purchase, and get her scheduling figured out to produce the freshest items for sale, she will be a success. The customer service is wonderful, and it's nice to talk to the person who actually baked the items. If the business can get the signage right so people know they're open, and be consistent in baking, this place will be well worth a visit. Lastly, I haven't tried the ice cream yet but it looks fantastic! The flavors are unique and look tasty. I'm waiting for warmer days, but I might try it anyway. Perhaps a good scoop of coffee flavored ice cream with that raspberry muffin. The store is very inviting to just sit and taste. Plenty of seating. Give it a shot. Don't just try one thing. You might find a special item that makes you come back. read more
