The box of macarons I got were put into a dirty box. I just thought it was from her hands from baking so I didn't say anything but when I went to my car and took a closer look, the box looked like it was clearly used before.. I went in and told her the box was dirty and used and she just said she didn't know how that would happen or something along those lines and said its fine and just handed me a new box to put them in. She even said she thought it was just a cookie or something. I was hoping she was going to offer different macarons or a refund but I also didn't speak up and I should have. After reading reviews for this shop I had some concerns but when we got this cake, not only was the idea perfect the cake was moist and delicious. I had a very specific Jason Friday the 13th cake request and they helped me deliver! I ordered 4 days before pick up, I was behind on life at the moment; half star off for customer service, I felt like my mom was scolding me for not ordering earlier . The Oreo filling was wow, I'm about to cover a cake in whatever that is! I got the "marble" which is a layer of chocolate and a layer of yellow. The cake had four layers, two layers of each flavor. We aren't fans of fondant and the frosting wasn't quite Fontana but similar. I would love a buttercream whipped frosting. We all pretty much just ate the inside. Size was perfect for us. Horrible customer service. These women behaved very condescending and rude. They have no respect or appreciation for some customers who walk in to their business. In addition their cupcakes have a consistent flavor of refrigeration. Cupcakes do not taste freshly made, almost as they've been sitting there for a couple of days. Cupcakes can have a lard flavor in the frosting. Or some type of rancid fatty flavor. It's 50/50...again lack of consistency in quality and flavor. ***Staff isn't very friendly or welcoming. We're from Long Beach and went to a bday party in Victorville that had a cake from the cake shop my wife loved it and since due to COVID our normal bakery (Torrance Bakery) weren't really doing custom orders. Bummer but to my luck I remembered how amazing their cakes are. Also all they ask for is a week in advance most bakeries require a month or so. Which is another reason why I thank them so much for doing our cake in such a short notice. Very sad and disappointed in "The Cake Shop" I have ordered from this place before but idk if it was this order or something has changed in the business because my cupcakes were significantly smaller in size and since Covid hit prices have doubled ($25 to $40). I emailed ahead months in advance to ensure that they had the right concept for my daughters cake. I called months in advance and spoke to them on the phone and I explained that my daughter was very particular about what she wanted and we were on the phone for almost 30 minutes discussing the cake. It was to be a black fondant cake with neon colors for a 90's rave themed glow party. I specifically asked them for neon drip on the cake, specifying the colors turquoise, electric purple, lime green, yellow, orange and hot pink. I paid almost $250 over the phone and drove over 45 minutes from Redlands to Apple Valley only to pick up a cake that was wrong. They did try to make it better but they just made it look worse. They put dark blue that was almost navy instead of turquoise and there was no lime green insight. And when they mixed the turquoise to try to cover the dark blue they did it in a hurry and you could still see white specks in the drip that was now clumpy looking. This was for my daughter's 13th birthday party that we spent months planning. As I explained to them when I picked up the cake, I was put in a bad situation because I spent that much money and made that long of a drive because I trusted them to make the cake the way we had agreed upon. Now I was stuck with a cake that was not what I ordered and that did not look like it was supposed to and there was nothing I could do as it was too late to get another cake. And to make it worse, they had the word NEON underlined on the receipt so they couldn't have missed it! And then I was dismissed by them as if I wasn't relevant to them by being told that the owner was on the phone with an important client and would call me. So whoever that client was, they were obviously more important than me and my daughter who now had a ruined birthday cake. It has been over two weeks and still no contact from them as promised. I'm truly disappointed in this business. Not only by the fact that they provided the wrong design but also in their lack of customer service. As a small business owner myself, I understand things can get crazy. But that is never an excuse to make your customers feel unheard, unseen, irrelevant and dismissed. I would never allow one of my clients to leave my establishment in tears because of my business. I could have paid $80 at stater brothers and been treated with dignity. The Cake Shop used to be a classy establishment with great customer service and pride in their work. Apparently the owner has lost sight of the fact that they are a key component in people's special moments in life and that their service can either make a beautiful memory or destroy a special moment for an entire family. Now every time I think back to my daughters 13th birthday, I will always remember that that was the year that The Cake Shop ruined my daughters cake and didn't even care enough to call me back or to even attempt to make it right. read more

I was planning my best friend's daughter's wedding. She decided to have just a small cake for the wedding and a dessert bar etc. We went to pick up the cake the day before and they never made it. They told us we could stop and get it early the next morning. This was very inconvenient as it was the wedding day and we already had so much to do. It was ready when we got there at 7:15am. We put it in the refrigerator at the venue until the very last minute. In less than an hour the cake collapsed into a buttercream mess. The bride and groom had to cut into a dilapidated cake. I was heartbroken for them. The bride is a sweetheart and chose not to make an issue. I however want people to know. The rudest staff and the worst customer service!! My family and I have used the cake shop for many years, just stopping by to grab pre-made cupcakes, to ordering cakes and cupcakes for birthdays etc. They have been rude in the past, but I've just played it off as to they were busy. This month alone we have placed two ordered for a 50th birthday party and a 5 year old birthday party. The staff was SO RUDE. We had to call 4 time for them to place the order for the cupcakes for the 50th birthday, each time being "disconnected" after being placed on hold for them to go get an order form. Finally called back and let them know what happened and their response was "well we're busy", if you are so busy then take a call back number and call the customer back when you have time, don't hang up on them. We went on to order cupcakes with black frosting and the woman was SO rude about it. "You know it's going to turn their mouths black right?" Then we went on to order a cake and cupcakes for my sons 5th birthday, we requested a black widow cake and just regular cupcakes. That was a whole other ordeal that would take too long to figure out how to type. But long story short, they couldn't give me a price on the cake and wanted me to pay a buffer price so that they had wiggle room. They wanted $75 for a 10 person cake, but to leave a deposit of $100 soo if they needed to add more the could! And she told me possibly they would give me back the $25 depending what they did. I was blown away at $75 for a 10 person cake!! And it was a simple 2D cake that staters could have done but we like supporting small businesses.. but we were here so I Ordered them and put 12:00 for pickup time. Come day of the party my husband was out getting ice at 11ish and I called to see if he could possibly pick it up half hour early or if it would even be ready by then and if not no big deal, the lady I spoke to on the phone put me on hold to see if it would be ready, she came back to the phone and rudely said "you put 12:00, we're on schedule for 12:00 like you put". Ok lady, I just called to ask, not say I'm picking it up! You never know unless you ask and what if it was ready!? Yikes. Come 12:00 my sister goes to pick up the cake for me and it still wasn't ready, they were putting final touches on it and when they showed her what they did, it wasn't nearly what we asked for. At this point my five year old just needed a cake and I was going to figure out what to do later. They've been rude in the past but this is the last straw for our family.
