When one of the running boards ceased working I called and was told to bring it in. When I got there I was told they were "too busy" and to come back another day. They would call me with a good time. As I never heard from them I stopped by again and this time they diagnosed the problem as a burned out controller. They would order one and get back to me for when to bring my truck in for repair. A month has gone by and I am still waiting for a call. Customer service is appalling.

One of them approached me and said, "yeah?" (Welcoming, I know), to which I responded that I needed to get my vehicle looked at. He chuckled patronizingly and said "yeah well we close in an hour so you'll have to bring it back tomorrow." Even after letting him know that I had limped the vehicle to his shop, and that it had died multiple times along the way - he turned to me, said "don't forget to close that hood" and then walked away. When a business owner exercises a lack of prudence in keeping their business hours adequately updated, the community which they serve suffers the most. Despite Nesloney coming well recommended from a neighbor, they have since agreed that they will not be coming back here. I'd admonish every person reading this review to save yourself time, money, and a headache and just taking your vehicle somewhere that treats you with dignity and appreciates your business, and I can assure you that Nesloney Auto Repair is not it.

This business was recommended to me by my family and neighbors. I stopped by at approximately…read more2:30pm on 2/27/18 to find out what was wrong with my car. I was advised by Eric it was my starter and was quoted $800. to replace it. ($425 for the part and $375 for labor) I was also advised he would have to keep the car and it wouldn't be ready until noon the following day. Having replaced a starter before myself, I left and advised the shop that I was going to get a second opinion. I pulled in to an auto repair shop down West Ave and asked them what they would charge to replace my starter and was quoted $385. ($295 for the part, $95 for labor) I left my car with them at 3pm and it was ready by 4:30pm. I told my family and friends about the gouging attempt by Nesloney Auto and it is no longer a business they or I would recommend. Buyer beware!!

I was referred to Barney and he let me use the corner of his shop over the course of a year in my spare time. Oh yeah, I learned a few (semi-expensive) lessons but he never gave me grief and helped me out and I sincerely appreciate that. He is definitely a standup guy. I moved to Austin a year later and haven't been back since but I have continued to refer the occasional person there if they live in the San Antonio area and need a machine shop. If you're a regular guy who wants to hotrod the engine in your old car, Barney can do it for you. If you walk in the shop you can tell just by looking at the equipment that they are serious about the work they do. It may look messy and sloppy with parts lying around, but while I was there over the course of the year I watched the other shop employees and they were meticulous about the work they did, always re-checking measurements for accuracy. A machine shop doesn't stay in business long if their work product is crap and they were always busy, even on Saturdays. Kinda tells you something, doesn't it? He knows how to build a motor (ask him about the 389 Poncho) and he won't sell you services you don't need for your intended use (you don't need a forged crank for a daily driver, etc). I'm doing another engine build now after 25 years for an El Camino (383 stroker) and trying to find a machine shop in Austin that I can trust as much as I trusted Barney. Unfortunately, he's just a bit too far away for me to haul everything down there. :-(

But the gentlemen there were honest and fair with the amount of work needed. Most importantly, they were surprisingly time sufficient with how long they had my vehicle in the shop. I'll bullet point it to make it easier to read: -I had my engine replaced -It didn't last a year -They blamed me for putting "Stop Leak" in the radiator. No idea what that is. -The radiator was perforated. Which could have only happened when they installed it. -They claimed I voided the warranty -My son of under 1 years old was in the truck during the summer when I had to pull over in the heat of the day. That's extremely dangerous. -I called multiple times and was promised a call back. Never received one. -They claimed they were changing shops and missed my calls. I talked with a person. -When I had my uncle out to help, we discussed and Junior tried to shut the hood on my uncle's hand. -I eventually had to give up on my truck because they would not return my calls. -This is the worst spot I could ever recommend going to. Junior is either a bad manager/owner or his team isn't good. I lost my truck because after multiple months of calling, they would not return my call. This is the worst I've been treated by any business. What was ironic was Junior stated he is not a crooked mechanic. He actually is and this is a crooked business. You can drive 15 minutes anywhere and not be affected like I was. Absolutely the worst I've ever come across. If I need to provide the phone log, it would be easy. Dude came recommended. Junior apparently isn't like his dad and very willing to screw you over. Again, I lost a vehicle over this. It was potentially worth 13k and I spent 3,500$$$ to have an engine put in that didn't work. They lied and won't return phone calls. I'm not the only comment on here that states that.
