I was craving for Batchoy during my last trip and my sister in-law recommended that we eat at Bar 21. It was raining during that time so it was just right to order a nice bowl of Batchoy.
Batchoy is a soup made of pork and beef stock with shrimp paste, miki noodles, crushed chicharon, pork, fried garlic, egg and may add liver. Maybe this is the Filipino ramen nowadays. This is served with toasted bread
Anyway, parking is difficult at Lacson St. so we had to park at one of those vacant area and walk a little. Upon arriving, there is a wait so have your name down and you can order ahead so when your table is ready, then there will be not much wait for your food to arrive.
I would have to agree with one of the reviews that the Batchoy had more liver than usual and it was salty. The single calamansi (Philippine lime) will not be enough to counter the saltiness. Despite that, I still say it was worth the walk in the rain and going back to eat again. read more
