I picked up a serious drug-resistant nail infection from an un-sanitized cuticle trimmer at 21st Nails. The technician was Sean. It is now 4 weeks later and I am being treated daily with an intravenous antibiotic infusion because oral antibiotics didn't work on the bacteria. The salon has reimbursed me for the costs of the visit, but my medical expenses keep mounting. Please stay away from this dirty nail salon where sanitation and safety are not practiced. read more

Finally, since moving here, I found someone who understood what I was asking for. This place is a hidden gem. I moved here in 2018 and have been to at least 5 salons asking for, and showing photos of what I wanted. No one could get it right and I found myself settling. And then.... I decided to try my local, understated salon just 5 minutes from the house. Nothing fancy, flashy or trendy. Instead, clean, family-owned and welcoming. Very friendly, kind and accommodating. I went in for a neutral color on my fingernails and the polish was horrible and didn't go on well. It was tacky. The lady had to take it off and try another color and that polish was also horrible. It was streaky and it looked like it was old. They charged me $28 to remove their own bad nail polish. I've never had this problem anywhere else and I've been getting my nails done for years. I will never be back nor can I recommend this place. read more

Got a a 55 minute pedi that lasted 25 at most. Toe nails were painted poorly and nails were crooked. Also got a full set, they didn't fit my nails at all. They were super wide. 2 days later the nail on my pinky started oozing. I had to take the nail off since the acrylic was cutting the sides of my finger. My nail was infected and it detached from my nail plate. I went else where to get them fix since I did not feel comfortable going back here specially after seeing they do not use the UV sanitizer to disinfect their tools. (They cleaned tools used on my toes with either alcohol or acetone.) I spent twice the money for a set. I'm missing a pinky nail and I'm going on vacation in a few days without a pinky nail. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I was visiting Sarasota for the first time and was really unfamiliar with the area or the nail salons for that matter. I stumbled upon 21 Nails and Tom took care of me. The best nail experience to say the least- I am SUPER picky and OCD with my French full sets and he went above and beyond and they are perfection. This is my new go-to spot when I'm in town on business-- Tom is an absolute gem and my experience was 20/10. A MUST TRY. Honestly don't bother going to any other salons this is the absolute best, every person in there is excellent Tran and Nancy usually are ones that take care of us but we have a glass of wine, we chat, we have a great time and they usually always accommodate any walk-in but I suggest calling for an appointment just because they are so great! read more

Going from a $95 mani/pedi in a day spa to this place is not a true comparison. I have always preferred CND Shellac to gel manicures but since today I chose convenience over preference, I decided to give this place a try. Bruce is the friendliest person on the planet, hands down. He makes you feel like you've known him your whole life. He does file nails back-and-forth instead of one direction which I'm not a fan of but overall he does a good job. IMO, better pedi than mani but still OK! There was the expected foreign language gab between them but Bruce speaks excellent English. Chairs have a strong and deep vibration. Soooo many color choices! And for $52 total, you really cannot complain. Cons: no liners for the pedi basin and not disinfected from what I saw and nail tools were not individually wrapped and did not look clean. Best I've been to in Sarasota. NICE Asian nail spa with nice people?! They don't speak another language and totally ignore you. The gentleman who works there is probably the friendliest person I've ever met but not in an annoying way it's like he doesn't bother you if you're trying to relax. The woman who did my pedicure is the best pedicure I've had in yearsReally took her time and cleaned every single nail bed. The polish job that she did honestly is the best my feet have ever looked decide before my wedding and I did not expect to love this place but I am so happy that I found it and it will be the only place I go to here. read more

Wish I could give zero stars! Worst SNS dip ever! I was a little off out when they charged $45 for dip (going price is $35) but I thought, okay- as long as it's a good service. It wasn't. My nails were bumpy and lumpy looking. Within 24 hours I had the top coat (gel polish; which is never done) peel off one nail and another nail had a small chip. I went back and she fixed both. The very next day, another nail chipped on either corner. At this point I know it's the product, because my real nail is intact under the dip...so it's not due to me being rough on my nails. Then, another nail peels the top coat. At this point I am less than 3 days from the original service. And, I am so annoyed and frankly just don't have the time to keep going back for them to fix their mistakes, so I just "fix" it myself with an emery board. Fast forward to the week mark, and two more nails (all different nails) are chipped and several others have the gel top coat peeling up. If you are going to charge premium prices, you should deliver premium product. Don't even get me started on the pedicure!!!! None of the items were sanitized!!! I was just praying the guy didn't cut me when cleaning my cuticles. When it came time for the callus scrapper I refused- I was so grossed out that nothing was fresh or sanitized. I will NEVER go back here. read more

My boyfriend, aunt, and myself are all from New Jersey, we were waiting to check into our Airbnb and we thought we would pass time by getting a pedicure. We went to 1 other shop and called 5 different nail salons before we found 21st nails. We are all so happy we did! Not only was their salon clean the welcoming staff (and dog) was what made out experience 5 stars. The whole staff were all so welcoming and actually had conversations with you, which coming from New Jersey is EXTREMELY rare; usually impossible to come by. They were so nice and gave us pointers on where to go, and places to see, all while giving us a great pedicures. After traveling our legs were sore and they did not skimp on the massage. The gentleman who did my nails was amazing and very patient with painting my nails- I have very tiny toenails and he really took his time and did an amazing job! If you are in the Lakewood Ranch area in Sarasota and you are looking for a nail salon- go here you wont be disappointed!! read more

Pros: Excellent massage chair, techs are friendly, great job, always get compliments on my pedicure, offer you a bottle of water/soda, clean, skilled, in a great location. Cons: Massage is average - could be better. (not so rough). Loud rock music. (would do better to offer a relaxing environment, in my humble opinion.) Overall: Highly recommend! I go to 21st Nails whenever I'm in town to visit family and I wish they'd open a location in NY. The quality of their service and work is exceptional and the staff is not just friendly but personable. Their prices, for me, are slightly high ($35 for a manicure-pedicure) but you definitely get what you pay for. They're usually always busy so I suggest making an appointment, especially during the snowbird season. I recommend either Trang or Sandy but if you prefer a heavier massage, go for Sandy. read more

My wife came home from 21 nails extremely disappointed. She wouldn't write a review but I will for her. This was a last minute visit because her regular salon couldn't get her in until later today. My wife, daughter, and granddaughter had a manicure and pedicure. They were quoted one price and when they were done they were charged another. When my wife told the manager, HE , didn't seem to care ! Also, my wife said that the utensils they used weren't sanitized !!! We have never ever made a written complaint about any type of business but this one deserved it. The story goes on but this should be enough to discourage anyone from using this establishment. read more

Went to 21st Nails for the first time to get my eyebrows waxed. I've had them waxed many times. The staff was nice and got me back right away. I had a lot of redness when I left, which is normal but when I woke up this morning, my right eye was swollen like I've been punched and scars under my brows on both sides. The wax they used was too hot and ripped my skin off, which caused the swelling to my right eye. Ill probably never get my eyebrows waxed again :( read more

I don't usually write bad reviews but I was exceptionally disappointed with the experience I had. I called on a Saturday morning after attending class and asked how much it would cost to have my acrylics soaked off and gel polish, I was quoted $20.00 and would be a 30min wait. This was a great deal so I said I'd head right over. I waited about 15min before getting my nails wrapped which was a lot sooner than I expected. I spoke to them about what a great deal they had given me and was switched in between two technicians as they multitasking. I wasn't very fond of the fact that they would ho from doing a pedicure to my nails without washing their hands and that their tools had visibly not been sanitized in quite some time. Their gel nail polish was old and coagulated. Buy the worst part of my whole experience was walking over to checkout and the price going from $20 to $34. When I brought up that I was told $20 he replied with "no no $34." I have no problem paying for decent sanitary service. However, I do not appreciate being blindsided by a $14 increase with no explanation as to why. Will never go back and don't recommend. read more

last time I was there I asked for an arm wax right after I got my nails done and while I was getting them done I noticed a young female and a male go in at different times before me get waxed. So it's my turn and the lady was using the same stick on me dipping into the wax multiple times cross contaminating! I was grossed out and thought to myself does she not go to cosmetology school or get trained on health hazards because I asked for a wax last minute and they brought me back to the same room the other two people before me were in using the same pot of wax... other than that I always liked their work on my nails and massages could be better. I honestly thought dogs weren't allowed in the work place but maybe it's certified as a therapy dog I don't know. I wasn't happy they switched nail techs on me in the middle of a pedicure so my feet were filed differently on each foot I made them fix it. For some reason last few times I went I wasn't getting the women working on me who do the wonderful massages on my feet I need so bad cause the men are too quick. read more
