Fantastic hotel; immaculate, spacious rooms with every need met, and then some, I had a fireplace in my room! The luxurious spa-like bathroom had heated flooring, and the shower, more jets than I knew what to do with. The staff was efficient, helpful and so courteous. The grounds were stunning. If you want a romantic peaceful getaway weekend, Highlands in N.C., 200 Main's your spot, walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops etc. It was a great stay! This is a renovated Econo Lodge I think, but no expense has been spared, great attention to detail along with luxurious finishes, make it fit right in with the Highlands charm. And for the 1st time in my life, I left a bag of clothes behind, yes I was that person! Really nice option in Highlands. Impossible to get a reservation during wedding season, which is becoming an a year-round event. I love the newer suites on the rear of the property with porches and fireplaces. You can walk anywhere in town, which is so nice for both shopping and numerous dining options. If you know Highlands, you also know that beautiful, unspoiled vistas and lovely waterfalls abound. The surrounding areas are a hikers' paradise, from an early walk up to Sunset Rock to more arduous hikes for experienced hikers. Be sure to check out the Highland Hiker for all you hiking needs. The suites are spacious, the rooms lovely and well-appointed and the service just what you would expect from an Old Edwards property. Have dinner in one of Highlands' many fabulous restaurants and then kick back around the fire pit with a glass of wine to enjoy the crisp mountain evenings. read more

Probably our last time. Arrived at 1230 and was checked in but room was not ready. Was told housekeeping would be expedited since we were there. Called several times in afternoon and was told almost ready. Received keys at 4 which was always gaurentee check in. Don't mind delays but can't stand being lied to. read more

The discriminating owners of Old Edwards Inn bought a tired motor lodge perched on a hill close by and converted it to a well appointed, quiet place, typical of their fine quality offerings. My husband and I always look forward to our stays here, when we need our "mountain fix," away from busy city life in Atlanta. We love our king suite on the second floor with a gas fireplace and porch. We greatly enjoy being able to have a fire on chilly mornings. The bath has a toasty heated floor. The walk in shower is generously sized with multiple shower heads. The bed linens are top shelf. The only thing lacking is a restaurant on site, but guests do have dining privileges at partner Old Edwards a short walk away. read more

A clean and comfortable room. The heated bathroom floor was an incredible luxury since our visit was in the winter. The fireplace made for a cozy and relaxing experience. Our balcony room had a view of Main Street and its Christmas decorations. The shower had plenty of hot water, was roomy, and had two additional jets (albeit the controls took some figuring out). The decor was tasteful and welcoming (although the framed mod artwork was incongruous). The white-noise sound maker and charging ports were nice bedside touches. Stayed here a few times and I love it! It appears to be a motel outside but inside is extremely lovely! I've stayed on bottom and top floors and never heard neighbors or anyone above. Room is very nice size and very clean. Having a fire place in the room was very nice, along with the heated floors. But that is where the positive of this location ends. This hotel is associated with Old Edward's inn, but as of right now due to covid restrictions you can't use the inn for anything. Leaving you with the only thing at 200 Main that you can get is a cup of coffee in the morning. They don't have a bar or restaurant that you would normally find for a hotel that holds itself as a high end hotel. If you choose to stay here, you must insist on an upstairs room. They should have spent less on heated floors and spent more on insulation between floors. We were on a lower floor so each morning when the person above us got up before the sun came up we heard every movement. Also our balcony, if that's what you would call it, overlooked the parking lot. So to charge extra for a balcony that overlooks the parking lot is a waste. read more

We booked one night in this hotel on our way up to cashiers. I wish we could have stayed more! The hotel is very clean with spacious rooms. We had Two comfortable queen sized beds and a working gas fire place. The bathrooms looked brand new, all tile with nice fixtures. You can walk everywhere in town in minutes. The pool was warmed to 87 degrees and there is a nice outdoor sitting area with fire pit and dog walk. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again. read more

We had an absolutely fabulous stay! My husband and I had just arrived in the Highlands from Santa Rosa after a nine hour drive and an impending hurricane in Florida. This was an amazing suite to call home for the next few days with the rocking chairs, fireplace and super comfortable bed. The heated floors in the bathrooms were a wonderful treat as was the heated mineral pool. It was the perfect location with virtually everything being in walking distance. I cant begin to tell you how relaxing it was to sit in the rockers on our balcony, with the fireplace lit after that incredibly long drive. I so wish we could leave after one night as I've no desire to stay another one. AC sounds like a prop plane starting up when it turns on and off. Room goes from freezing cold to very hot. When someone above us walks sounds like they'll fall through floor! And room smells like wet dog. Bed is like sleeping on a brick and when hooked was told full access to everything at Old Edward's but turns out not true. Not impressed at all so far with 200 Main. read more

We chose this hotel since we were traveling with a small dog and they have a selection of dog-friendly rooms. First impression is that this is a motor lodge and not really a hotel. We paid more than $300 per night and the room was tiny with one of these AC near the window that is noisy and blasts air. Location is good and easily walkable into town, but the accommodations are bare bones with very few amenities for $300/night. To contrast, we returned a few months later and spent the same amount for a mountain home with views via VRBO. Won't be staying at 200 Main again. read more

Stayed in building 5 again for tday week. Positives... location, fireplace in our room, outside and in lobby, clean, newer, tasteful tile and decor, heated floors in bathroom, magnifying mirror in bathroom, hammock outside, game room was huge, quiet upstairs of building 5, balcony. Negatives... sink too high to wash my face and I'm 5'4", pillows too big, shampoo aweful, ran out of hot water in shower, gym was small and heat was too high, pool was not heated, only 3 rooms are dog friendly, and they worst thing of all is that they don't recycle!!! The whole town does not recycle!!! Such a shame they aren't willing to take care of our beautiful Earth. There is no planet B. And since they know their town doesn't recycle, they should not be using plastic cups in the bedrooms and in the gym. Reduce your plastic by using paper cups please! And put out recycling containers and take the recycling to the next town over--it's not that far. read more

Don't get the side that backs up to Main Street as it is noisy. There was a semi truck at 5:15am just outside idling his motor for half an hour waiting to make a delivery or something. Also they had a 14 cancellation policy that you will have to pay for one days stay if you cancel. That seems extreme. Room was ok. No pastries on the two days I stayed even though they advertise a pastry or muffin in the AM. Clerk says nope, they "used" to. read more

The room is nice, with the fire place. Rates gone up double the last couple of years. Still with view, it is sure worth it. However, as an expatriate for many years, the front desk receptionist must have her very down day to serve me and my friend, whom highly recomend this lovely place. The lack of enthusiasm of service downpour just like the snow. The response of service to get a glass cup for wine is a very long hour wait. We were pleasantly surprised with how warm and inviting our room was. The stay was very relaxing and we only noticed a few issues that prevent me from giving a 5 star rating. The first thing was checking in at 5pm and there was still trash and old linen outside of our room that I had to call and have them pick up. Then the water in the shower was luke warm. Such an amazing shower only to be let down by the water temp. And finally the people that clean the room didn't do a very good job. We had a cake and wine set up for the first night we stayed and the next day, the room was cleaned but they didn't take the dirty dishes. They also did not take all the trash out the following day. And finally, if you plan on trying to get some work done via the wi-fi, I recommend using your own hotspot since the wi-fi cuts in and out. read more

The room was beautiful. The fireplace in the room made it warm and comfy. We were able to take advantage of the fire pit the first night. It was too cold to take advantage of the porch outside of our room. When I checked in, I told the desk clerk that I had read reviews that stated that you could hear the people walking above you. I requested a top floor room. She told me that our room was on the 2nd floor, and they rarely heard complaints of noise from above. My husband is a light sleeper, so he wasn't able to sleep either night because the people above us were up very late walking around and up very early. The shower was also very nice with multiple shower heads, however, the water pressure was very low so we could only use one shower head at a time. My husband did register our complaints with the front desk clerk and the manager, but all they did was make a note of it. Again, it was a lovely, cozy room. If you are a heavy sleeper like I am, you will be fine. read more

What's most amazing about this place is what an incredible job was done to renovate it so that the rooms don't feel like Motel rooms. The rooms are tastefully done, and please note some are more spacious than others. The rooms with balcony and fireplaces are clearly the largest. Our room has just a balcony so we have no windows facing the parking lot. It feels just like a regular hotel. Rooms with windows facing the parking lot do have nice plantation shutters. The in room fridge is a very nice perk, and the bathroom is well done, though small. Staff has been very friendly, both at check in and in our encounters with housekeeping. My only complaint is that the outer walls seem very thin. I have not heard the neighbors on either side, but outside our door is quite loud, and from above as we are behind the stairs. No breakfast here, though they do have fresh fruit and coffee in the reception area. The price is right here, even in the high season. I'd recommend checking it out! read more

Given the price, we were surprised when we arrived to find 200 Main to be a motel. But once we entered the room we were pleasantly surprised. The room was large, spotless, well appointed and had everything we could want. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine but the hotel staff said some missed their regular coffee - which could be found in the motel lobby. They have a swimming pool, a fire pit seating area and some hammocks for relaxing. The location is convenient to the town center so we walked pretty much everywhere we needed to go. read more

Winter has arrived in the Highlands and your feet deserve the heated bathroom floors. Still not warm enough? Turn on the overhead heater/vent and be amazed at being practically air-dried when you step out of the shower. The double queen bed room was sufficient for 4 adults and an infant in a pack and play. Need more room? Head over to the sparsely-utilized lounge complete with kitchen, fireplace, and TVs (and extra bathroom). Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was the charging station on the nightstand with two USB (0.5A/1A) and two 110AC outlets. Very convenient for charging phones and cameras after a day of sight-seeing. All that combined with a great location makes it definitely worth a repeat visit. read more
