Preordered product and it took far longer to get it than they promised. Like two weeks. They did not provide a discount or give us any incentive to come in again which they should have done honestly. When I finally was told to come pick it up, nobody was there to give it to me. I waited like fifteen minutes and nobody even cared I was there. So I grabbed what appeared to be my order, and called and left a voicemail telling I'd picked it up. Just not great customer service and instead a bunch of apologies. Went in for a balayage without a money piece. Hairstylist suggested a thin money piece. The money piece ended up being extremely wide and harsh. Called to get it fixed and they "fixed" it. Their version of fixing it was just bringing the harsh line closer to my scalp. The stylist only dried the front pieces so I couldn't even see the money piece in comparison to the rest of my hair (it was significantly lighter). Tried to contact the salon via calls and texts but no response was given. read more

I had Audrey cut my hair a few days ago. This might be partially my fault because I forgot to tell her that the last chick who cut my hair cut it unevenly but I also feel like part of her job is to make sure there isn't a 1/2 inch length difference on either side of my face. We'd discussed doing layers, which she said she'd do after she dried my hair. I wasn't really paying attention so I don't know if she actually tried adding layers or what, but if they're there I can't find them. Audrey was nice but outside of discussing what I wanted done she didn't really talk to me. That worked for me as I'm not a big fan of small talk, but I know a lot of people would find it offputting. I could have saved myself $25 and gotten a (probably better quality) haircut at Fantastic Sams. The salon itself was really nice and everyone was friendly. I liked that they included a short massage and style with the services. The shampoo chair was super comfortable. read more

First time here, nice place their complimentary amenities are nice so that's why it's not a 1 Star but I am highly disappointed in my haircut. At first I thought it was going well my right side was looking good then the lady was doing my left side and I started noticing it was shorter than the right side. So I waited until she got done and said something about it. She agreed it was shorter and bang trying to make the right side to match. I was trying very hard to be polite and not make a scene. The receptionist asked how I liked it and I said She would not want to hear my honest opinion. Being that I was on the verge of tears I asked to pay so I could leave. I just got home and looked at my hair...it's still visibly shorter on the left Update: Spoke with a customer rep on Saturday saying the owner/manager would be calling since i was unhappy that i would have to wait until Oct 10th to get my hair fixed. I received a call from a director who is unorganized and had no times ready. They do not care that they are making their customer wait to have mistakes fixed and all they care about is money. They will fix my hair but won't refund the $45 and want me to wait to have my cut, even a week out is unacceptable. I do not have time to wait for my hair to be fixed. They offered a complimentary cut my next visit since they will not refund my money, I do not want it knowing how terrible their customer service is. Added additional pictures of my hair curly and straight. In response to Stacey: no she offered oct 3rd-5th saying that you would fix it but not offer a refund and only offer a complimentary cut on the next visit. I had my cut on Friday 9/27. Why should I have to wait that long to fix my hair? The customer rep before that on Saturday offered 10/10 at the earliest, all dates are unacceptable. I still have yet to receive a refund. When I told her the last 4 of my card yesterday she never responded back. It took me sending her another email asking her to send confirmation. That was less than an hour ago. I have really thick hair, which I was ready to cut shorter to cut down in the time it takes to do. I showed Amber a picture of a previous cut I had which was around collarbone length with some long layers and framing of the face. She seemed to understand what I was wanting but unfortunately, I left with one of the worst cuts I've ever gotten. The layers are so short, with the top layer being so heavy, I have no choice but to always wear it curled to try and blend in the top or pin back some of the top layer. Because she made the top layer so heavy, it left the bottom layers so thin, especially after she overly thinned it out. So incredibly frustrating because at this point, there isn't much I can do besides grow it out because I don't want to cut it even shorter. read more

To start, I have been a client of 20 Volume for years, and I love the services and atmosphere. I come a few times a year for facials, and they have always been above and beyond. I've recommended them to many people. So, like everyone else, I took a break from salon services because of Covid, but I was overdue for some self-care, so I booked an appointment. It was the WORST facial of my life. I've been getting facials regularly for over 20 years. They're all basically the same. Not this one! Nobody offered me tea or water (maybe this is a Covid policy?). The guy tried to skip the aroma journey, which is one of my favorite aspects of an Aveda facial. He applied and removed product randomly, instead of the center-outward sweeping motion. He skipped extractions. He told me not to blame him if I broke out over the next few days. Not exaggerating, I was finished a full 15 minutes before my time was up! The prices were more expensive than listed on the website, so I paid $75 for a crappy 45 minute facial. No extractions, no explanation of products used, no tea...what's the point? I could have done it myself at home. I'm not really a one-star review person, but it was just so horrible. I cried on the way home from the salon (after I used a tissue to wipe off the thick oil that was left on my face), because I was so stressed and frustrated. I reach out to the salon twice to try and tell them about my experience, but nobody returned my call. I'm a teacher and a single mom, so I'm short on money and free time. 20 Volume facials have always been the ultimate treat for myself, but not anymore. I felt like they didn't want me there, like my facial was an inconvenience to the service provider. I will never go back to this salon. read more

Avoid this place. Veronica Bajc messed up my hair, then gave me attitude about it. I had brown hair and she couldn't redo my roots, they came out black and didn't match. She then tried to lighten it and I ended up with orange hair and a jacked up haircut. As a result my hair dried out, and I had to cut it short. read more

I went to the salon to have my hair highlighted and my hair turned out ok. My three star rating is because of their Covid policy. I actual chose the salon because they had such a good policy in place. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because when I called I was told they would seat you in every other chair to socially distance you from the person next to you however I saw two sets of people sitting right next to each other. And the chairs are pretty close; I can touch the chair next to me when sitting in mine. I just felt a bit uncomfortable because it was different than what I was told on the phone. Update: about a week later I kept looking at my partial foil in different lights and realized I was not happy. I even had people ask me if I just went to get my roots done and couldn't believe it when I said yes. I left still having an inch of outgrowth. See the pic. The main reason for my post is because I wrote the manager on it, and I never heard back :-( So I guess I have to post another review here for them to see it. Please see my roots after my hair visit. I did mention it to the lady right away too, that it looks like I still have roots. She offered to do a base break which cost $40. I went in last November to get my roots done by Natalie. She was so nice and we got along great. But unfortunately, she literally burnt off my hair. It has been 7 months and I still have a mullet because my hair is still trying to grow out. I will have to pay for this for another year or so and it's painful to look at and try to style. I wear hats a lot. And my hair is sooooo thin now, it makes me so sad. I haven't gotten a refund yet.... which is not fair at all. The owner was extremely nice but, I deserve a complete refund. Ah, Emilio... He lived up to the reviews on Yelp. I looked for an Aveda salon near my new neighborhood, and found 20 Volume Salon & Spa. It's a beautiful salon on the NWC of Val Vista and Williams Field. Emilio must be good, because it was 2.5 weeks before I could get in to see him. I brought three magazines with pictures of colors and styles marked, ready to review with Emilio. It had been a while since I'd had a trim and color done. My color was a bit too dark for my complexion, and I also wanted new highlights. He brought my base hair color up a notch or two, closer to my real hair color, and did the best possible with highlights, given that my hair had been so dark before. He also evened out my many layers so that they flow well together for curl and volume. I've received compliments already, and it's been less than a week! I LOVED the eucalyptus oil he used for a neck and shoulder massage, and bought some for home (goodness knows I need it for the stress of work!). I'd also never heard of the great volume tonic he used on my hair, and I use Aveda products almost exclusively. I am so frustrated because I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited to find a place that used products that matched my ethics. The second time I ever came here (a couple of years ago), I had a problem with a girl who really messed my hair up, leaving it patchy to the point that even my young son pointed it out. I hate complaining and feel very uncomfortable with confrontation. My husband called to see what they could do. They offered to fix it at a different location with a higher level girl. Awesome. No biggie. Everyone makes mistakes. I wound up after that getting a stylist, Nico, that I really liked, so I continuously went back to him. Two weeks ago, I was notified of a photoshoot (I'm a model) kind of last minute and needed to get in within a couple of days. Nico was not available, but they reassured me that another women who WAS available, despite being a level below him, was very skilled and would do a great job. I won't name names because I don't want to get her in trouble. She was nice enough (until the end.) Reluctantly, I took it. When I went to write it in my planner, I realized that it overlapped another appointment, so I called immediately back to shift it to later in the day. The woman was understanding and moved it accordingly. I got a sitter for my son and show up for my appointment. It hadn't been moved as she said and there was nothing else available until the morning of the shoot. Trying to stay calm, I took the appointment. She added on a blowdry and botanical for free since they messed up the scheduling. Again, awesome. I show up for the appointment and explain what I am looking for from my scheduled root retouch and partial highlight. I made sure to validate 3-4 times that these services would give me the results I was looking for: that my roots would be covered throughout my layers, that it would blend well and that there wouldn't be any "patches." Had a patch left at this location once before that they had to fix (separate from initial situation.) When she is done, the highlights were fine, but it looked like the roots hadn't even been touched. Disappointed, slightly panicked and upset, I pointed it out. I was told that if I wanted the roots to be covered in the under layers, I would need to get a FULL HIGHLIGHT. I have literally been getting my roots done since I was 15 (I'm now 35) and only recently started getting highlights regularly. My roots had always been covered. I realized they weren't going to do anything, so I left and cried in my car, hoping that maybe I was just overreacting. My husband wondered before I even said anything why I hadn't gone to the salon appointment I'd scheduled. I composed myself and went to my shoot. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE ME AS THERE COULDN'T BE VISIBLE ROOTS FOR THE CLIENT!!!!! I protested that I'd just had it done but even the stylist on hand said they looked "untouched and grown out." I was so embarrassed and heartbroken to have lost something I worked so hard for. I was too upset to call the salon same day because I knew I would be hateful and I didn't want that. When the email the next day came for me to give my feedback, I explained all of this in the survey. It said I would be contacted promptly to resolve the issue. A few days later. Nothing. My husband called the salon and left a message. No call back. Tried again the next day. Nothing. This is not acceptable. I paid $185 for it to look like my hair was never done, I lost work over it, I'm embarrassed because I hate confrontation and complaining, I feel self-conscious and nobody will address the matter. I came to this salon for a haircut by Morgan and I talked about how I wanted to get hi lites. I told her I had been dying my hair at home and the last time was 8 months ago. She said she could give me blonde hi lites, no problem. I came back a month later and after 5 hours in the chair my hair felt fried and I barely had brown streaks in my hair BARELY noticeable. The manager comes over and says she can correct it before my maternity pictures. I come back a couple of weeks later and after another 5 hours my hair comes out orange and brassy not blonde hilites at all. As she was drying my hair I could see tons of broken pieces of my hair flying all around me. My hair was now seriously damaged. Then I was told I need to find another salon. As I was pregnant and wanted a natural option I was thrilled to find a salon that used Oway organic coloring in Scottsdale. I highly recommend Brenda and on the first try she gave me blonde hi lites. I came back March 31 for styling with Clara and everything went well with my blowout. I then had another blowout scheduled and less than 24 hours I get a call stating Helena the store manager is canceling my appointment as I was told to find another salon. I asked why I was able to come in March 31 without any issues? I had never booked another color appointment. I was told that no one caught that I scheduled that prior appointment.... ridiculous way to treat customers read more

I've joined the growing ranks of folks who have had bad experiences. I think aside from the undesirable outcomes, much of their problems stem from a lack of Customer- Service philosophy, protocol or solid leadership. My visits have ranged from outstanding to trauma -inducing yet I did not jump ship, even when family and peers react to my hair with remarks like "oh dear" and "what happened?", or "oh my gosh I'm so sorry" I still remained a client because of those better experiences. I think it would help if there was someone available to clients who could offer real solutions and remedies. I have never been able to speak with a manager, I've never had an opportunity to show them what i looked like post-service. Unfortunately nothing like this exists. If something is wrong your only options are to either tell the young girls at check out or tell your stylist which is not only awkward but not necessarily what most would consider an option. I am now going to take my business elsewhere. There are other circumstances at work but this is the gist of my review. read more

Went to the Gilbert 20 Volume Salon and Spa. I am disabled and only able to get my hair done once a year because I suffer from pain. I went in there and I was so happy but I was greeted by an angry manager. She claimed that she talked to me on the phone an hour earlier and that I canceled my apt. She obviously had me confused with someone else. She continued to treat me rudely, refused to listen to me and told me that in the future I had to get my hair done somewhere else. I had done nothing wrong. When I got outside I was in tears. Either she needs to be taught how to treat her customers with respect or she shouldn't be working there read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Stay away. I went on 3 occasions to this salon to see Larissa. The first time was after a very long time not cutting or coloring my hair and I was overall pleased with the full highlights and cut I got and I really felt like this could be a great place to continue going to. Although when I got home I did notice a few grays were not covered along the sides of my face which were not a big deal. The cost was pricey but comparable to other salons. The second time is when the real issues emerged. I came JUST for a color touch up and I told Larissa clearly that I wanted all my grays/roots covered especially on my crown and also just a little touch up for highlights around the front of my hair to brighten it up. I was at the salon for over 2 1/2 hours in which time Larissa took 3 more clients in between me. I sat a lot waiting and waiting and when I was finally done I paid and left quickly because didn't realize it would take so long. When I got home, I noticed that there was over an inch of my roots all over my hair still showing and was upset that after 2 1/2 hours of my time there my roots were still there. I called the salon a day or two later and explained politely by voicemail that my roots were still showing and I needed to come back and have it fixed. I assumed it would be for free. An assistant called me back and said that they could do it but Larissa would charge me an additional $40 after I had already paid over $100 for what? And they implied that it was basically my fault because I agreed to do a base break which only covers 60% of roots. I thought that was outrageous! What woman wants to leave a salon with roots sticking out after getting color! After pushing further they told me to come in and they'd do it for free. When I did go back the third time to give them an opportunity to fix it, Larissa sat me down and said, So what can I do for you? and acted like she had no idea why I was there. No apology, or I'm sorry that there was a miscommunication. Nothing. She did the roots and that was that. For a master stylist, I would have expected more and better customer service. And guess what? There were still roots I noticed sticking out when I got home! The assistants are nice but very under trained and hair washes weren't relaxing. There were several times they were rough with my hair either brushing or hair drying probably out of rushing! I love Aveda products, but strongly suggest staying away from this salon and not wasting your money. High prices, don't treat their clients well and underlying attitude that they're doing you a favor. read more

I had super long hair and I've been growing it out for years and I finally was so happy with length. I asked for someone who knew how to cut curly hair. I went in with hair to my breasts and left with shoulder length hair. I asked her to cut 5 inches off with long layers. She cut 10-14 inches off my hair!!!!!!!!!!! The layer is so insanely shorter than the longest piece of my hair, I mean 5 inches Shorter! She didn't even blend them!!! She also put a hole in my hair next to my face. I would show pictures but I am so devastated and can't stop crying. Level 5 stylist my ass!! I did get my money back but that will never give me my hair back. read more

I loved the service I received here by the actual stylist- unfortunately I will not be returning because the salon seems very poorly managed. 1. I was double charged for my service. Noticed days later and had to call to have the overcharge reversed. They were very nice about it, but I shouldn't have to review and request a refund for such a significant sum. 2. I booked a follow up appt after my service for 6 weeks out. A week prior, I was called and told my appointment was being cancelled because of some event they decided to have at the salon. Said event meant that I could receive a haircut but NOT the color I'd scheduled for. No thanks. I agreed to cancel and decided then to take my business elsewhere BUT still got follow up cancellation requests via text bot and email. How can you have so much technology and still be unable to charge people accurately and appropriately forecast appointments? It's too bad because the facility was clean and modern and had a lovely feel. I just got an "off" reception from the moment I entered and not even the good hair service I received could make up for the overcharging and annoying cancellation. Paid 55 dollars for a a haircut that took 15 mins from shampoo to blow dry ( no joke), it was the fastest haircut ever. I expected more from an Aveda Salon. Didn't notice until I was home that the cut sucks! Tipped 20% With a total of $66. I'm not sure why, he didn't deserve it. They charged my card $68 dollars. Won't return. I could probably get the same cut at Supercuts for 1/4 the price. Not impressed with this place at all. read more

Update*** They saw me back the next day. Due to timing, I saw a new stylist. I will admit she was at the master level. Kassidy quickly understood what I was trying to say, and emphasized she wanted me to be comfortable. She was able to both cover my grays that were still light and detox my hair to get my highlights back. I'm not sure if it was just the stylist, but I truly appreciated that they listened to me. They even blow dried my hair when I had not originally paid for that to make sure I liked the color. Thus, while getting a color correction was not in my plans, I appreciate the very quick and proactive change to ensure I was both happy with my hair and it was not damaged. After the last girl I used to go to left, I decided to try Lacey for my overdue haircut. I was in need of a trim and reshaping of my layers. I am always leery about someone new, but I was not disappointed. Lacey was very friendly. She asked me many questions about my hair, how I style it and what I was specifically looking for. She was courteous and respectful. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation throughout my time there. She took her time through the cut and ultimately did a great job. I visited this Salon on Saturday December 7th, and had an appointment with Larissa. I had never been there before, and when I scheduled the appointment they failed to inform me that there was more than one location, so I went to the one on Williams Field, instead of the Dana park location, which in turn made me about ten minutes late. But that's the least of it. When I arrived Larissa had another client she was doing a color on, and another in the chair next to her. So apparently I was squeezed in while the color was processing. The assistant washed my hair, and she was very nice. Larissa on the other hand different story... I was a hairstylist for 12 1/2 years, I know good customer service, and this wasn't it. Larissa definitely needs an attitude adjustment, she wasn't friendly at all. It's as if she acted like I was doing her a favor by letting her cut my hair, which is by far one of the worst haircuts I've ever got. I was in her chair for probably 5 minutes before she even said one word to me, then we began to make small talk, and her other client was in the chair next to me, talking with the assistants that worked there. I had replied back to a comment Larissa said to me, and she didn't even acknowledge it, she just rudely butted into the conversation going on next to her. She also spoke in a rude tone to another employee working there. Now on to my haircut, I showed her pictures and explained to her what I wanted, and what I didn't want. What I ended up with doesn't look like the pictures. There is a clump of short layers on the left side of my head that are choppy, and not blended at all, leaving it thinner at the bottom, and the right side of my head is like a totally different haircut. The layer are much longer, but still choppy. After she was finished she walked me to the desk, and didn't even say thank you, or anything. She just went back to her other client. I asked the receptionist if she always books her appointments more than one client at a time and she said yes, she's always super busy. (With the quality of work my haircut is and her unfriendly attitude I don't know how.) I tipped her $10.00 even though she didn't deserve it, so I ended up paying over $80.00 for a bad haircut and a bad attitude. When I was leaving she had her head down, working on her other client. And I believe, had I not said thank you to her, she wouldn't even acknowledged me, to say anything, but she did reply back and said "thank you, nice to meet you." I will NEVER schedule another service of any kind in this place! I would never dream of treating clients the way I was treated. And I think double booking is not a good way to conduct business. If I'm paying that much for a service, I expect your undivided attention and some common courtesy. read more

My hair!! My hair is gorgeous all thanks to Ashley c. She took the time to find out what my hair goals were and exceeded my expectations. I feel like a goddess every time I leave her chair. I have naturally darker hair and with her help am now platinum. Today we did a shadow root which I have never done before and I am beyond impressed! Well the girl still cut it again, the manager wasn't there and it was still uneven. And I was told that for a correction I would need to come in sooner than I did. I have 2 jobs and didn't have time to get in sooner than I did, not to mention I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO COME IN FOR A CORRECTION. Went in on my birthday as what they call a"model" to get a color correction and trim. This is an awesome option for anyone, especially if you're like me and have a very tight budget! The model pricing is very affordable and it helps benefit the girls who are in training or "new talent" I think they call them! Some people may be hesitant to let someone a bit new cut or color their hair, but let me tell you, they still know what they're doing! Totally worth it! Here's a pic of my before and after. I have pretty long hair and they spent extra time and attention on my color correction to ensure it came out beautiful! I'm so excited for my new hair! Made my birthday that much more special! I had an appointment with a stylist this past Saturday with Cassidy. I have been a regular client of this salon for some time now and this experience has made me decide to go elsewhere from now on. An apprentice of the shop retrieved me from the waiting room and gave me the aromatherapy shoulder massage then the stylist came over. I had gone in with the intention of going with a "unicorn or mermaid" color but was told by this stylist that it would be to harsh for me and mixed up what she thought would be better. She slapped on the color in quite a hurry as I saw she had another client she was working on at the same time. It was a partial color, when I had made an appointment for full color but didn't say anything because at least I was getting the grays covered and wanted it done right and not sloppy. The apprentice came and retrieved me to wash the color out. When I got back to the chair the apprentice said she would be combing me out and blow drying. It took about 10 min for her to dry a small portion of my hair. I told her not to worry about drying it out and to just dry it without straightening it. She had no idea what I was asking. What is the problem? Not everyone gets their hair blow dryed straight. So the stylist comes over wanting to know whats wrong so I repeated myself, and she was confused. So she took the hair dryer from the apprentice and said "just tell me when its dry enough for you" and starting drying my hair by haphazardly blowing my hair in all directions, in my face and just real pissy. So I said its enough and got up to leave feeling mortified by the ordeal. I was so very upset about the whole experience and frankly pissed off that I had to endure it when its supposed to be a relaxing experience not a rush job like it was. I can't say enough good things about Larissa. She works magic on my hair! She has been my stylist for 10 plus years. I like to go light in the summer and dark during winter months. She keeps my hair healthy and beautiful. I look forward to new techniques and let her use her artistry to create something I never knew I wanted. She has taken me really dark to blonde to balayage. My hair is always blended perfectly. Other stylists go to her for advise because they know she does such a wonderful job. Many people have asked who my hair girl is and when they go they get hooked! If you have wavy, curly, long or any type of hair then Cori is your girl. I've had issues at other salons where stylists cut or thin my hair too much. Cori listens and will cut my hair exactly as requested. My 13 year old is fortunate to have gorgeous hair and is very particular. She loves the way Cori cuts and styles her hair. I would HIGHLY recommend Cori. She is phenomenal at her job! read more
