Also a nice homemade breakfast was served on the morning we were leaving. Very nice. The king bed in St. Michael's Room was very comfortable and the private bath was acceptable. A few of the older light fixtures were dodgy. There are dining options just down Main street in Madison. We had a meal in town. Typically we stay for more than one night and the town seemed nice enough for a longer stay. JLD Lanier owner architect of this B&B and also the Lanier Mansion. Unfortunately we did not have time to stop by that historic site. The house has some history as a stop on the Underground RR according to the innkeeper. The quiet country setting was the perfect backdrop for a weekend of mindfulness, meditation, and conversations. We had…read morereceived information prior to our arrival that check-in time was an hour later than normal because they had had a wedding party the nights before and needed a bit of extra time to clean and get organized for our arrival. That was totally fine with us. We arrived a bit after 3PM. Once we had located the owner Colleen we were being shown to our room. This night they were not fully booked and so she first showed us the room we had booked, but then showed us another room, which had the balcony overlooking Ohio River (which was the same price as the one we had booked) and said we could have this one if we preferred. Both rooms where looking really nice, but the balcony was a nice bonus. So we stayed in the Riverview Mansion Room. After we had decided on the room, she showed us around the rest of the house. And the mansion is really nice and well taken care off. It was clean and inviting. The areas where we could sit and relax was just really nice. We enjoyed a bit of time on the balcony, enjoying the afternoon and the gorgeous weather both pre- and post dinner. The bed was comfy, the room not too cold nor too warm. There was nothing really we missed in the room. Breakfast the morning after was also really nice. They had a few different spots to sit for breakfast, and since we were the first ones down for breakfast, we went for the table overlooking the river. We were then being asked about what we wanted for breakfast given a number of different choices. Breakfast was well cooked and tasted good! We were more than happy with our breakfast when we left to go pack our bags. If I would give a few few tips of improvements it would be to have free access to bottled (or filtered) water (perhaps there was, but it was not something we where informed about). There was two small, small bottles in our room, but they where emptied within 5 min of our arrival. Also, informing about what time breakfast is being served from (or having a card or something in the room, informing about that would be helpful). Also, a number of B & B we´ve stayed at have had information about local restaurants, things to see in the area etc in the room, or somewhere easily found, that we didn´t see either. But these are all minor details, but that would have made our stay even better. And, lastly, but that´s because I love it - a possibility to have breakfast outside, enjoying the lovely morning sun would have been fantastic!! Would clearly recommend this B & B!

It feels remote because it's on top of a hill but you are just a couple minutes drive from downtown! The beds are so comfortable, we slept like rocks every night. The fountain in the sitting area, the beautiful art and furniture all over the space make it absolutely perfect. The space is totally separate from the main part of the house, we almost forgot it was there. Tom and Chandra are so accommodating and at one point asked us for feedback to make the place better, and we couldn't think of one single thing we would add or change (and I'm always very opinionated!). Madison is a great little town, we loved exploring the shops, the river (a new friend took us out on his amazing boat, the people here are so friendly) and the restaurants. It almost reminds you of a southern town like Savannah or New Orleans (but CLEAN!). Thank you, Tom and Chandra, can't wait to come back!!

We rent the whole house for Thanksgiving weekend. The location is great. It's secluded and scenic but very close to downtown Madison, the hilltop area and Clifty Falls. The three guest rooms are large, each with at least one king sized bed. Each of the three bedrooms has its own private bathroom. My parents stay in the Riverview room, with - you guessed it - spectacular views of the Ohio River valley. My sister stays in the Independence Room which has two beds (one king and one queen) which let's their young kids have their own bed but be close to mom and dad. My brother stays in the Sunshine room. We don't always have her serve breakfast, but I have been there for her breakfasts before and they are generous and a good selection of proteins and fruits and sweets. My local family comes out and we cook and celebrate Thanksgiving and black Friday together. The great room (open concept kitchen, dining room, and living room with a gas fireplace) is large enough for the biggest crazy family gathering. Kids run around like wild people, adults eat, drink, and are merry! The owner, Kathy, is friendly, helpful and super sweet. She always has spare tin foil or extra milk or whatever we need. This is a great spot for families, couples, girls weekends, a place to stay during great Madison events, and everything else!
