    Seafood Chowder

Cute little spot on the side of the road in Bandon. Has a very homey vibe. Staff is super friendly, they offer a very surprising menu. We stopped in for a very light snack. Got a cup of the seafood chowder and the turkey melt special. Both were tasty, I liked the sandwich more. Wished the chips would've been homemade. I also got some cookies to go and they were tasty.

The food and drinks were exceptional. The restaurant is small but clean and the owners take very good care of you. We had enough for a light dinner from our leftovers!

We believe…read morein 2nd chances :) ORIGINAL POST: Heard about this place from a post in a women's group I'm in and so my guy and I decided to take a drive and check it out. We went in and it was a quaint and cute place. They had a couple of customers so things seemed promising. We noticed seating at the bar and we asked if anyone was sitting there or did they already leave (empty plates and glasses suggested that the previous customers were gone). The guy said it would be a few minutes but we could sit somewhere else for now. The lady was just standing there doing nothing and didn't even greet us. Anyways. we happily sat at a table while we waited for the bar to be cleared. After a moment, we noticed the plates and glasses were removed so we both started to the bar again. The guy was sorting dishes off to the side and the lady was again just standing there so we assumed it was ready, but no one said anything. As we started to sit at the bar I excitedly told the lady that was working there how I heard of the place and I was excited to try it. She gave me a smug "smile" and said nothing. Then turned around to get some glasses. We were starting to feel unwelcome. We were given some food and wine menus and I then noticed that the counter was wet and had some crumbs. I didn't have a napkin so I just pushed the crumbs off to the side and my guy asked if they could wipe the counter. I was surprised that she didn't suggest doing this in the first place, but we didn't notice it was dirty until we sat down. It was fine that it was dirty and they still needed to clean up as we would have waited longer but there was no communication. The lady finally said to us, "we just had a big party and that's why I told you to sit somewhere else", but she wasn't the one who told us, the guy did, and all this would have been totally fine and understandable, but her behavior was unfriendly and rude. A friendlier response would have been more accommodating, like, "oh let me get that for you" (if I was the owner I would have said, "oh sorry about that, I'd be happy to clean that off for you"). We felt like we weren't welcomed so we left.

I've lived in many major cities and have been cooking for almost 40 years. I didn't arrive with high expectations but the steak was perfect as was our app (The Kahlua Shrimp.) The husband enjoyed his polenta lasagna as well. He's extremely picky so I was surprised to hear it hahaha. The server was super friendly and fun and the chef also checked in on us and was equally as cool. A lot of Yelp reviews seem to just be people with unrealistic expectations so I take it with a grain of salt. I don't typically leave reviews on account of that but I like to give credit where credit is due. I definitely plan to come back next time we are in town! Thanks to everyone for a great 43rd bday!! :)

Very personable and engaging and also give us enough time to visit with each other. The menu is really nice lots of depending on your appetite And of course it goes without saying they have a terrific wine selection. I was very pleased with my food. I had the Cod sandwich with poblano soup. The soup was delicious, the sandwiches very good too. We had a flatbread as an appetizer and everyone seems to really enjoy that. One person at our table wasn't real thrilled with their selection, but they never said anything to the server I looked at the other foods as they were being served, and they all looked really tasty I would come back 4.26

Vinny raved about both - and he was so right. Great food, great service, pleasant and attentive wait staff, and a relaxing atmosphere at Redfish. And the Hawthorne Gallery is a must-see! Beautiful and beautifully creative art pieces by highly talented, professional artists. A stunning display of unique, highly skilled artistic talents. Breathtaking! Be sure to stop in and enjoy. You can also watch people walking on the beach & fishing boats. The view is beautiful! We started with the croquettes which they served with a delicious sauce. Then we had the Clam Chowder. Which was also excellent. I compare all Clam Chowder to Ivars, and this one didn't disappoint. I had Clam linguine which was loaded with fresh clams I removed from the shells & a light cream sauce. My husband had the Sable fish, which was sautéed & served with Polenta & olives. Very good he said. Our server was very attentive & made great recommendations for wine, beer and food. We didn't have dessert which looked yummy, but opted instead for an after dinner walk on the beach. I definitely recommend Redfish when you are staying in Port Orford, Gold Beach or Bandon. Or just passing through.
