Menu isn't very big and definitely qualifies as 'diner' food: burgers, sandwiches, salads, and simple lunch/dinner items like baked ham, chops, chicken, etc. There were a few kids and senior choices also listed. Very limited drink choices, as well; just a few sodas, coffee, tea, OJ, and milk. (No milkshakes?!) I opted for the chicken taco salad, and was immediately a bit dismayed by the dressing choices. Just your basic salad dressings; I requested ranch but with a side of salsa to kick it up a bit. Girlfriend opted for chicken tenders, corn, fries, and a dinner roll, with semi-sweet tea. My salad overall was okay; the shell was nice and crisp, the chicken was seasoned and plentiful, but there could have been more cheese, and maybe some chopped onions and black olives, as well as a more appropriate dressing, like a chipotle ranch. Barb's chicken tenders were very good; flavorful and juicy. The fries were crispy on the outside, but still with a pillowy center. The corn was apparently frozen, as it was a bit chewy, but was served in way too much liquid, and she had to ask for butter. Her dinner roll was originally forgotten, but then a couple freshly warmed ones were brought out, which were good (though also without butter). Her tea leaned a bit on the sweet side, but was good.

This cute cafe with its bright colors and great atmosphere a casual dining was great. They offer breakfast and lunch with a full bar. Everything came out perfect and on time we never needed anything as our cups were always full and we were always asked if we needed anything else. I love the coffee cups. They are so cute. Everyone found something they liked -- the menu has a good mix for both kids and adults. The atmosphere is laid-back, with TVs on every wall showing just about any game you'd want. Our server was spot on, friendly and attentive. She was in the middle of training a new staff member who shadowed her the whole night, and she didn't skip a beat. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? There are multiple seafood options, and seafood isn't something our town, and we all opted for seafood. Our friends both had grilled shrimp and loved it. My wife had the fried oysters. I got the surf and turf with a ribeye and fried oysters. The steak and oysters were perfect. As much as I want to get the flounder next time, it's hard to pass up great fried oysters! All of our meals came with a salad bar, and we were all happy with the selection and freshness. We were also given complimentary hush puppies instead of bread, which we thought was a nice change. The restaurant's liquor license was just issued, so they didn't have wine yet, just beer and White Claw. The ladies had one each while my friend and I each had an ice cold Red Oak. For dessert, we tried the hot fudge cake and the cheesecake. The hot fudge cake is a light, fluffy, and delicious made from scratch cake. They are not slices but rather small loaves.
