I visited this tattoo parlor to get a tattoo, but unfortunately, it's only been a week, and the line is barely visible on my skin. It's inconsistent and not even straight. The artist was very sweet and funny, but the tattoo itself was a letdown. She didn't stencil or anything, and I was really excited about getting a tattoo here. Highlights: Amazing Artists Clean Shop Great People Great prices First off let me start by saying I've been following Jerrick's work for a few years via Instagram. So I knew the caliber of artist he was and definitely wanted work done by him. With that being said, I was a little hesitant to get my work done here considering the past reviews on Yelp. I later found out Jerrick and his wife recently became the new owners of 1st Amendment and it seems like things are really taking a turn for the BETTER. Communication: I contacted Jerrick and his wife to see if I could get some work done. They responded the same day and unfortunately he was booked until November. When I told them I was only visiting for the month (currently stationed in Tennessee), they worked with me and were able to get me an appointment in July after someone had cancelled. They responded anytime I texted them with any questions and made sure they had a pretty clear idea of the work I wanted done. Shop/Customer Service: Like I said, the Yelp reviews had me a little hesitant, but my experience was extremely pleasant from the moment I walked into the shop to the moment I walked out (about 7 hours). There was roughly 6-7 people working there (artists, piercers, apprentices, etc.) and everyone of them made it a point to introduce themselves and treat me and my brother like family. The shop was clean, well kept and every time a customer walked in, they were greeted and helped immediately. Tattoo Work: I sent Jerrick a reference and talked with him about my idea and placement of the tattoo. After that I just let him work. He drew it on rather than stencilling it, which was already pretty amazing to me. He was very vocal and made it clear that if at any point I wasn't extremely comfortable with the design to let him know and it wouldn't be a big deal to make changes. The fact that for 7 hours (draw up and tattoo time combined) I was extremely comfortable and confident throughout the process says a lot. I'll let the work speak for itself (see picture). All in all, don't let the reviews fool you. The shop is under NEW MANAGMENT. All the artists and everyone else working there is awesome. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Not the nicest shop around. Took 5 hours from draw up, set up, and actual tattoo time. The design is great, but the actual work sucks. He dug the needle too deep, and I can some ink is already blowing out. I understand I was a walk in and it was late, but this is permanently on me now. I was going g to ask him the finish the band all around. I didn't want to sit for another hour and get more crooked lines. Something that shouldn't have been rushed at all. Eli hooked it up! On 2/13/09 they were offering "Valentine inspired" flash work for free (+ tip). I chose a sparrow with a heart, two flowers, and a banner. I was able to choose the word that would go on the banner and I got a tribute to my dad, so it says "Daddy" on the ribbon. Bring on the "Who's your Daddy?" jokes. We ended up waiting about an hour because Eli was inking up another guy so I went next door to the shady Mexican food place to grab a bite and a beer. (Shhh!) Went back, picked the image and showed him the placing. Inside of my right arm, technically my first "big" piece and my first "visible" piece. The owner, Reverend Mike, asked if it was my first tattoo, made small talk then went about his business. I laid out on a table with my arm hooked under my head and we did the outline. This took about an hour. Smoke break. Then we did some shading. Another hour. Finally we went back to discuss colors and I told him I liked turquoise and so he managed to incorporate it into the art. Another hour and a half. All in all it took a little longer than I would have expected for something of this size but I love it and I couldn't beat the price. read more

I'm writing a review for both myself and my girfriend. First off, Tyson was my artist and I am very happy with my experience with him. It was my first tattoo, and he went slow and was patient with me. He constantly made sure I was doing okay and kept great conversation going the whole time. I would definitely go to him again and recommend him to a friend/family member. My girfriend on the other hand, had an experience quite opposite. It was also her first tattoo and although she went in comfortable and not nervous in anyway, she left rather unhappy. I'm pretty sure her artists' name was Drew. He was quiet and unapproachable from beginning to end and her tattoo, needless to say, does not look the best. She wanted to get a simple domino, no shading, just line work. The lines are horrible and the dots inside the domino are missing lots of ink. It was finished in a matter of only 5 minutes and felt very rushed. She is really disappointed. read more

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET NIPPLE PIERCINGS HERE!!!! I came in on 10/11/2016 at 12:00pm to get my nipple pierced. I was their first customer of the day. I had never gotten a piercing here before so I didn't know what to expect. Although I had my nipple shaded in by one of the artists a couple weeks prior and it had already faded, I decided to give 1st amendment another chance. So I walk in, tell them what I want and the piercer asked me to fill out a form. He was really respectful and took his time. He took me to the back room and closed a privacy gate. Everything was all good until it came to the actual piercing getting done. As he was piercing, I felt unusual pain. As I looked at his face, I can tell that he was a bit "uneasy". As I looked into the mirror I was faced with and AREOLA piercing. He got nowhere near my nipple!! And it was completely slanted. A nipple piercing hurts waaaaaay too much to be dickin around and makin mistakes! I immediately left and went to a more professional piercer with more experience in nipple piercings. His IG is piercer_Jesse and has a shop in Redlands, Ca if you are ever in need of a GREAT piercer. Jesse told me how awful the piercing was and how dangerous that could be in the long run. He explained how the tissue in my breast was more than likely pushing down on the piercing because of the way it was positioned. The list goes on of the complications he explained!! So I ended up having to get that one RE DONE along with my other nipple. It was HELL. The pain is unreal so make sure you go somewhere that you can TRUST. Trust me, this is not a piercing you would want getting messed up and having to re-do it. Stay AWAY from 1st Amendment. read more

decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday to get Friday the 13th tattoos. We knew they would be busy so I told him to get there early and I'd meet him there after my shift at work. He writes our names on the list at 4:45pm. 4 AND A HALF HOURS LATER straight from work still in my work clothes, we still didn't get our tattoos. I've never seen a tattoo shop more unorganized. The artists turning people away which I can understand it's a busy day for them. But they only had a page a half? They started turning people away around 5/5:30 and still couldn't get to even through one page of names? We knew we would have to wait and had no problems with that but 4 and half hours? When we are watching the artists bring there friends in ahead of people, tattooing one friend of theirs all night long multiple tattoos in a row? Have 7 "artists" back there but only 3-4 tattooing? skipping around on the list, picking and choosing who they want to tattoo, and calling people they know to come in and letting them skip the line. Never once checked on us in the 4.5 hours to let us know we'd be up soon or see what we wanted. I've never experienced such an unprofessional environment. I'll never return here and I won't let anyone I know come here to waste their time or money. Needless to say something I've always loved doing and wanted to share with him was completely ruined. read more

Just got my 1st two tattoos at 1st Amendment (Temecula location) over the weekend. I didn't need an appointment, I just walked in and asked for the person I was interested in working with. I ducked a star right away because of the guys' attitude - he gave me such a hard time! I just wanted to get two small tattoos, for which I had drawings and sizes, and the artist couldn't let go the fact that that's all I wanted. He kept insisting I get something big - eek! Talk about personal decisions?! It didn't ruin my experience, but it did leave a tiny indent in my day. Otherwise, the place was very clean and there are very talented people working there. I got exactly what I had in mind, which couldn't make me happier.
