We have been here several times, the first in February and again in July. They have added more seating since the last time, mostly by removing the 50 Chevy from the inside. They also have outdoor seating as well as the bountiful seating inside. This place is wonderfully decorated with 1950's traditional American decor. From the Chevy's parked outside to the juke box inside to the waiters dressed in 50's attire (oh, and did I mention they are on roller skates) this place would feel like home in any American town. The last time we were ther they had the movie Grease playing on a screen. They always have traditional 50's music playing and on some nights have live bands. It is a little ways outside of Florence but easy to get to by car, taxi, or bus (there is a bus stop right in front of the dinner. Take the #2 bus from SMN). Don't be hesitant becausse on the distance; it is well worth the trip. Especially when you are craving the American food you haven't had since you moved here.
If you are looking for authentic American cuisine this is the spot. Burgers, fries, chili, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and even shakes. I had the burger with bacon and guacamole, the chicken burger (or chicken sandwich), their chili (which was amazing, the best I have found here), and the nachos (which from seeing previous posts looks like they recently changed it up. Chips, mix of American cheeses, guacamole, sour cream, and chili.)(this and the HRC are the only two places that make nachos taste amazing) Their shakes are good but a little watery and not as thick as I am use to. We have been fortunate to see two birthday parties here and they have a cake (well really just a large stack of donuts) with sparking candles. It is very fun to see.
I highly recommend this place hence the 5 star rating. While the place is filled with mostly Italians, the owner/manager was extremely excited to have two Americans dine with them. The place is always packed so I would recommend a reservation especially since you may be coming from Florence center city. However we just popped in this last time without one and were lucky enough to find they had seating available. So now go and have your own wonderful experience of the 1950's American style. read more
