So, my friend gets home with her food it LOOKS good, but looks are deceiving. First for oxtails to be $30, second it's no meat on the bones. She literally paid for bones, cabbage and rice. Something gotta change and it need to change like NOW! read more

Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious but my salmon arrived cold! Like refrigerator cold! They could've at least microwaved it for a minute or two to make me think it was fresh. I would try this place again but I'll go in person to make sure my food is hot. read more

Alil expensive but food is very delicious and people are nice and welcoming. Flavorful as well

I read the reviews on here and the 5 stars is accurate to me. Probably the most authentic Caribbean food here in NJ. I ordered through Uber eats so I cannot confirm the derogatory reviews concerning the staff. I ordered a large jerk chicken and it was plentiful, enough for a meal and leftovers. I plan to order the ox tails next. They also use real wood or coals I believe too. Updating my review and lowering my rating to 2 stars not because of the food but due to the service! I just ordered jerk chicken and they sent me oxtail. Not even going to eat this! You cannot run a successful business and give a customer a totally wrong order and to make things worse, it was delivery, which meant I cannot return the food. read more

NOTE: if you are paying with a credit card, restaurant passes their credit card fees to their customers, so expect to pay an additional 3.99% fee. My friend and I were in the mood for Caribbean food and I remembered that there was a Jamaican restaurant nearby. It is a small takeout place with no indoor seating. The menu is pretty big and the staff moderately friendly. I ordered large sweet chili chicken with oxtail gravy (extra charge), cabbage and rice. The portion is very large and filling. Chicken was crispy with an ample amount of seasoning, but the rest of the dish was lackluster. Both cabbage and rice were bland, lacking taste and salt. If you are very hungry, you will likely enjoy it, but if you are an adventurous eater who appreciates delicious food, this place will likely disappoint. read more

We ordered from 14 Parish again today thru Ubereats. We ordered stew chicken, jerk chicken, oxtail, bbq chicken, extra sides of yams, mac and cheese, potato salad, and 5 beef patties. When the order arrived, the beef patties were missing. Apparently they do not serve patties anymore because it's no longer on the Grubhub menu and it's no longer on their actual menu on their site. I looked at their site a few minutes ago and the patties are not on there at all. I guess they forgot to call Ubereats and get it removed from there (at first, we thought it was a mistake with grubhub so that's why we went with ubereats and ordered the patties from there). The issue is, the receipt from Ubereats was printed out and stapled to our bag. There's no way the restaurant didn't see that our order included 5 beef patties for $16.25. They had to read the rest of the order so of course they saw we also ordered the beef patties. At any point, they could have called to inform us they no longer carry these or ran out or whatever the case is. It really looks like they just tried to keep our money. We had to notify Ubereats that we never received the patties so we can be refunded. read more

Went for Monday-Saturday Lunch Special Food - 3/5. Jerk chicken was pretty juicy with decent amount of char on the skin. The sauce wasn't too memorable as there wasn't much of that deep spiciness or that smoky flavors that you expect from jerk sauce. The rice and vegetables were pretty average with an alright level of fluffiness on the rice but not much standing out for the vegetables. Service - 3/5. They clearly have a lot of locals at the restaurant which is great but there was that hint of ignoring non-regulars which put me off a bit. Value - 3/5. The lunch special prices are average considering the area at $8 for the jerk chicken. The flavors didn't really stand out and the amount of chicken was just normal. There wasn't any plantains, which I'll assume was an honest mistake. Parking - Private Lot (Free) read more

Food was cold and okay. I'm sure it was the dish I ordered, shrimp curry. Next time I'll try something else, the woman helping me wasn't to helpful in recommending dishes. Ordered through Uber eats and the food was very disappointing. We ordered a large jerk chicken with jerk chicken sauce and oxtail gravy on the side as well as the ackee and salt fish sandwich and jerk chicken pattie. The jerk chicken was very bland. No flavor at all. The rice and peas and veggies that came with it was also very bland. We also did not receive the oxtail gravy on the side and the jerk chicken sauce. On top of this, we received beef pattie instead of the jerk chicken pattie that we ordered. read more

I am so disappointed. I spent $28 dollars on this fish. It was way to spicy to eat. I had to throw away a whole fish. New York has better jerk fish. I just don't understand what's going on with New Jersey's Jamaican Restaurants. This is not okay to serve to your customers. read more

As far as catering goes this restaurant was absolutely horrible! From the quality of the food to the delivery of the service; I mean, who shows up to a function without providing utensils to share the food, there was also the issue of them not having enough servers to "cater" to the event. It was absolutely ridiculous and I mean that in every sense of the word. The quality of the food is not even worthy of note as the "curried goat" had parts that looked like what would appear as cow skin. My patrons were genuinely displeased with the delivery and overall execution of this establishment. If I could give negative stars for my experience with this "caterer" I would have, given the responsibility was cook to the food and not to cater to my event. Preposterous! read more

3.5 stars! It's important to make a customer's first experience really good or they won't ever come back! Today I ordered the beef patty, and the meat was weird inside! It tasted funny so I tossed it out! I had the bbq jerk chicken with Mac and cheese and rice and peas size large for dinner. The bbq chicken would of been delicious, but it was served to me cold! That's the reason why I wouldn't come back because I wouldn't want to take the chance of my chicken being served cold again! It would of been really good if it was served hot! So you might really like this place if you luck out and get served chicken that isn't cold! I can see this place getting 4 stars from someone else if their chicken isn't cold! The Mac cheese was good, but it was a small portion that I paid $2 extra for. So it didn't make sense for me to be served a tiny amount of it. I really wanted plantains, but they were out of it! Makes no sense to be out of plantains at a Jamaican restaurant! The rice and peas was a very generous portion, and that was just ok. I wish it was all Mac and cheese instead! Another disappointing thing is they didn't have not one dessert listed on the menu! I wanted the red velvet cake, but they didn't have that or any other dessert! Overall, if your food is hot your probably like this place, but they blew my first experience so I won't come back. read more

Amazinggggggg Jamaican food! Fresh, tasty and so much variety! I would definitely recommend!

This used to be one of my go-to Jamaican spots for years because of the amount of food you got for your money, but recently, the prices have gone up significantly while the portion sizes have gone down. The taste/quality isn't consistently good anymore either. It's pretty hit or miss these days. read more

Very disappointed in my order. First off, I ordered thru uber eats at 6:18, the order arrives at 740!! Are they that busy?? If so they should turn off uber until they are caught up, the driver still had to wait when he got to the restaurant as they weren't done! Ok so on to the food..$25. I ordered large oxtails with rice, salad, mac and cheese and yams. The oxtails were not good..they were tough and they did not taste like what I'm use to from carribbean restaurants. The flavor just wasn't there The macaroni and cheese had NO TASTE WHATSOEVER NONE! Like They forgot to Season it. The yam was just a boiled sweet potato smh. My stomach hurts now. I hope I didn't get food poisoning read more

I came to this local spot with my husband for the first time yesterday. The inside is very small- just 4 chairs, so don't expect to snag a seat if that's what you're aiming for, but in any case seemed most of the customers were only present for take out. We ordered the large platters of jerk chicken and curry goat. The goat curry was coconut flavored (I could easily mistake it for a Thai-esque flavor). While the serving was plentiful, the meat wasn't as tender as expected and more boney than desired. The jerk chicken was also served in ample amount. Meat was tender, but from a flavor standpoint could use more of a spicy kick- also had fruity undertones to it but it was well balanced. The plantains, rice and beans, and cabbage that came with both dishes were all delicious. I wouldn't deem this as the best Caribbean food based on the hype, but certainly does satisfy the craving and well worth the price given the serving size. read more

Oh my my my. I don't know where to begin with this review. I thought I had tasted good Jamaican food before, but this right here is at the top with a crown. . Initially I thought I found a favorite place for Carribean food, but over some time, my thoughts had changed. Although their food is good some times, my wife and I repeatedly received orders that wasn't ours and the servers took it upon themselves to give us others items we didn't ask for. Granted we appreciate the gesture, however, I think its more important to call the customer to inform them of the change. This is not their philosophy at all! After calling to clarify the mishaps, the server totally disregarded my request and proceeded to rush me off the phone. I don't know if customer service is their model, but I was completely offended and felt like my request was unheard. Unfortunately, I will not be ordering from this place again. If you are okay with dealing with bad customer service, shoot your shot! read more

As you can see from this photo, I took about 2 bites before stopping, shedding a couple of tears, and then proceeding to grab my phone so I can' write this review. There's a lot of words I can use to describe the emotions and thoughts that ran through my mind when I took those bites, but I'm going to go with one word, revolutionary. Yes, a strong word, but based on what I tasted in this meal, it deserves such heavy praise. The sauce was spicy with every bite yet had a perfect underlying sweetness that made a perfect combination. The chicken was fried perfectly and was still crispy underneath all of that sauce. The rice m peas I have to comment on because they were better than the usual. I also got a side of yams and they were Also absolutely delicious. The patty I got with the coco bread was great too, the bread was very soft and fluffy but the patty had a sort of crispy outside and nice soft inside. Overall, this already is my go to spot when I am in the area. I recommend to all. read more

So I ordered 2 Buy 1 get 1 free meals. I was suppose to get 2 Fried Chicken Meals and 2 Stew Chicken Meals. My Uber driver was great. My bag was stapled closed for extra security. Only for me to open it and have 3 meals. 2 Fried Chicken and 1 Stew Chicken meal. I called 14 Parish Caribbean Kitchen 4x before somebody picked up the phone. I explained the situation. She placed me on a brief hold to come back on the phone and asked if the bag was opened. No lady sorry the Uber driver didn't take my food. Your place of business didn't put it in my bag. Then the only resolution that she offered me was, "Well if you come to this place often I can give you a discount on the next order". No, I don't order from here often. Actually this was my 1st time ordering here. And guess what. No thanks ma'am. I won't be ordering from the facility in the future. If you don't want to give out promotional food then DON'T OFFER IT!!!!! Now let's talk about the food. The Mac and Cheese is Bland, The Fried Chicken is BLAND, I asked for oxtail sauce on my rice and peas and DIDN'T GET IT. My rice and peas is dry and BLAND!!!!!!! Like really?!?!? I never leave reviews on places. Ever, but this honestly pissed me off that I downloaded YELP just to leave this review. I wouldn't recommend this spot. Thanks 14 Parrish Caribbean Kitchen for the food! read more

PRO - We had the beef patties ($2.25) = they were delicious, tasty and had best flaky and homemade crust! We also tried the large sized jerk pork ($13.5) and ox tail ($16.5) dinner - both were good and decent portion. Jerk pork was a bit dry. CON - They did not honor the free can of soda/water coupon from yelp. The owner said he has not heard of coupon, but that is what is said on my mobile phone. I order almost $40 of food and he wants to argue me for a $2 soda ... ridiculous! The place is small! Mostly take out business and I see a lot of people coming and going. read more

Portions are huge! I'm not from Jamaica so I can't vouch for how authentic this place is but the chicken tastes like it's been slow cooked for hours and the crispy crust that's been soaking all the flavors is so flavorful! the food is descent. Your average Caribbean food. The cashier had a bad attitude. The chicken I purchased said on the above menu that a size small lunch or dinner was $9.50. My food rang up $12.44. It said the meal was 10.92 the oxtail gravy was .60 then there was taxes. I asked her about it, and she got upset as if I didn't have the right to ask her. She said, We'll the menu is old. That was a lie because someone had just purchased a $30 large oxtail meal which was the price on that same menu. She then proceeded to go to one of the ladies and tell her, because they both started staring at me.I was like what's wrong? They just stared. I'll stick to one of the other Caribbean stores, where they don't jack the prices whenever they want.If that was the price it would have been fine, but don't lie. read more

They definitely changed something... I'm guessing it's their chef. The food is not as good as it used to be. The "stew" chicken is WHITEEE and the oxtails aren't as good anymore. I don't usually post negative reviews but I'm pissed... I ordered a large red pea soup the other day and it was delicious. So I ordered two more large soups today on Uber eats... And wow. Dramatically different soups. Today's soup is completely over seasoned, only fat parts for meat, and it's scorching hot fire... (Way too many scotch bonnet peppers). My mouths on fire and it really doesn't taste good. and I don't typically mind the heat. Plus you forgot my beef patty that I paid for. Consistency is important... And they charged $7 for a bottled fruit ginger beer and advertised it as 100% sorrel. Very disappointe. read more

This is the real deal! You're thinking what does this Asian girl from NJ know about Jamaican food. You're right not much but while in Jamaica I ate 5 days and 5 nights at this hole in the wall (actually there were no walls just a big grill with stools around it). I had the most amazing jerk chicken there and 14 Parish has one that can compete. 14 Parish also has an amazing ox tail stew. I would ask for that sauce on the rice no matter what meat you choose. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. More of a take out type of place since they only have 3 two-seater tables. And 2 hour street parking available up and down Anderson. Thank you 14 Parish for taking me back to Jamaica! Now only if this NJ weather would cooperate. read more
