Wonderfully complex set design, i wanted to walk slower so I could take it all in! The actors were definitely very engaging as well. I like that they change the theme every year. Worth a visit.

This was the first time Me experiencing the 13th floor haunted house. I went with my partner. I love haunted houses. And this is one of the best ones I've been to so far this year. My partner just join me he found it scary but it was so much fun for me. There was an adult only section, I think they make kids exit, because the second half has more people those things. The setup is really good and the characters play really good role. They cannot touch, but they do come pretty close to you. I'm glad there were no bad smells in the inside. If I get an opportunity, I'll definitely go there again. There is street parking, but we might have to walk quite a bit go early before your reservation. There is paid parking as well, which is just next to the entrance. They have different options of the tickets and if you want to enter and one time was not enough, with that ticket you can re-enter. There is a long wait time and they do not start on time. If you take on your time in the evening, you still have to wait a little bit but later in the evening, it may be a longer wait . The characters outside the entrance I'm good, but I don't like the fact that they are touching people. I would like thank Yelp as well for giving us a great experience.

We had a blast at 13th Floor! My husband and I laughed so much and our friends screamed the entire way. The presentation was incredible - realistic details and so creative. You can't take photos inside so I only have photos from the entrance. We had fast pass entrance so no waiting at all. That was worth it. Parking was difficult initially because we were trying to find street parking. Eventually we found a spot a block away. Otherwise, you can pay $20 to park next to 13th Floor. I recommend saving the $20 and giving yourself extra time to find parking nearby.

Although this was not what I expected, it was a great time! From the name of this haunted house, I thought it would be floors of fear and fun but it was all on one floor. I was really impressed by the decor. I think they can step up the scare Factor just a little bit with the actors. They were very good, but a little too polite for my taste! Lol! I was hoping that I would have less of a wait time because I had the fastpass access, but unfortunately, there was still at least a 30 minute wait time. Hopefully they can improve on that because it was a really great experience! Be prepared to park a little ways down and walk over if you don't want to pay $20 to park in the lot nearby. Thank you to Yelp Elite for this awesome experience!

First timer here! I was really scared to go in lol. I liked it a lot the costumes were really scary lol the decoration the lighting the noises made it all. They did such a good job with the setup in there. It was pretty fast I wish I was a bit longer I definitely got scared! It's worth it, if you have never been to a haunted house and want to go, this is the place to start with. Make sure you bring cash or you can Zelle to pay for parking. Sundays is the best day to go since it's not too packed!

Decent haunted house. Great staff. Unfortunately they are leaning more and more on "fast track," style ticketing. We've been going for a few years now for Halloween and valentines. This year, we stood in snow for over an hour before leaving without going in. The non-fast track line moved once every 10+ minutes. My partner and I have talked about it and are not likely to go back. If you are going and aren't going to pay to skip the line, go right when they open or prepare for most of your night to be standing in line waiting.

I first shoutout the production team. I can only imagine what goes into putting these haunted houses together from makeup, displays, costumes, design. I can appreciate the way this was all set up and done. The only thing I did not like was having to pay for a time slot online. We booked for 8:15PM Saturday and stood in line for an hour that did not move. When I say it was packed!!!! The line was like a concert line and stretched along the building side. Someone did offer us the option to pay $20 to skip the line which was well worth it otherwise we would've been in line until at least 11pm. They had a bar in line with yummy coat friendly drinks. It was definitely a "one and done" experience but I think the setup was great and I did get scared a few times.

I had so much fun at 13th floor! It was my second time here and I was still left scared and horrified (in a good way). I got the fast pass so I only had to wait around 5 mins in line. While you wait in line, the actors come outside to spook you out, which was fun. We entered into the house in groups of 4. The whole experience was insane! I won't reveal what all was inside but I wanted to commend the actors, the quality of the props and the layout of the house. They also stay up to date on the current trends and include sections accordingly. The owner even came to talk to us and asked our feedback at the end. Overall, a great experience and a must visit for the spooky season!

Great Halloween tradition. Line can be ridiculous. Make sure you have a fast pass. Great thrill. Good experience overall

Came here with some friends on a Tuesday night. The website recommended people to go later in the evening to avoid a long wait time so we went at 9PM, but we still waited for 45 minutes. We had to pay $20 to park in the parking lot which was quite a lot just for a haunted house. I wish they had free parking, especially with the price of the general admissions fee. The weather was bearable for the first 15 minutes, then it started getting cold. At least there was a food truck for some warm beverages to keep warm. The staff inside were all friendly and had a great system for everyone to line up. Props to the girl who was yelling over the music and giving instructions to everyone. I would have lost my voice if I had to constantly shout. The haunted house had different scary themes inside that were super creative and cool to see. And yes, I did get scared a few times from the monsters popping out of nowhere. It took my group about 15 minutes to walk through the whole house. We were walking pretty fast, so maybe if you walked a little slower, it might take 20-25 minutes to finish. Overall, I like this haunted house. I've been to a few in the past and they were just mediocre.

Ask the Community - 13th Floor Haunted House

How long did you stay overall for the night for fast pass? The wait will be quick but how many houses were there ? The reason why I'm asking is because I don't want to drive 30mins to this place and only spend 15 mins in haunted houses

    15 minutes

Is there exits inside if you want to leave?

The staff is more than accomidating inside. I rolled my ankle and they asked if I was okay and offered to get me help if needed. Came out of charater and then returned after they made sure was okay

So, the physicality of enclosures designed to terrify adults is just not something that interests me. However, I couldn't be more enthused about this bit of local flavor: Every October, a family in the sleepy town of Roselle sets up three big tents in their front yard and crafts within them a truly excellent Halloween experience for the community. We'd been noticing the tents for a while, but only started investigating them last year. I figured it was going to be the usual cutesy Halloween stuff, but no. The level of creepiness and goriness was such that I couldn't handle actually entering the tents, so I mostly looked on as my partner Wolf R. had a good time checking everything out. But even he got a little surprise at the end: While looking into the coffin in the last tent, he was spooked by a large vampire swinging down from above, and a second later, he was further startled by a person dressed in all black, including a black face mask, creeping up behind him. I'd have laughed if I wasn't so busy making sure nothing was creeping up behind me. This year I felt a bit more bold and decided to follow a whole group of little kids into the leftmost tent, themed like a haunted carnival with evil clowns. This ain't so bad, I thought, enjoying the creative clowns and even snapping a pic. And then, I don't even understand what it was, but the odd noises and spinning lights they'd set up conspired to get under my skin and I felt like I was going to totally lose it if I didn't retreat *immediately*. My god. The middle tent was the gory cannibalistic one, with zombies and body parts and -- well, I won't spoil it for you. It was so gross that I couldn't actually look at it long enough to take a picture. And this year, the last tent was themed like a haunted hotel with black lights. Nothing jumped out at my partner this time but he still loved it. As it turns out, the haunted house also promotes a good cause: They collect non-perishable food for the Bloomingdale Food Pantry. The family also accepts donations if you'd like to chip in to their haunted house efforts. I'm just hoping they'll do a set of friendly winter wondertents one of these Decembers :) Hours: According to the listing on this page (http://www.wlsam.com/calendar/default.asp?DATE=10/11/2012), they're open 6-10PM Thursdays through Sundays in October, with extended hours in the last week of October.

We waited about a half an hour to get in which was not bad at all in my opinion. The longer wait promotes really good spacing and a well paced out experience inside so it's worth it! And the scare actors outside help immerse you in the experience early. For 15 dollars per person, this is so well worth it compared to other larger scale haunted houses in the area. The setting itself is so cool and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. We went in in groups of 8 which was a nice amount in my opinion. I don't scare easily so nothing really got me but that is not at all for lack of trying! There are multiple actors around every corner, cool lighting and interactive effects, and very awesome props for the actors. Caution there are a lot of strobe and flashing light elements if that's an issue for anyone. A lot of others in our group were scared throughout so I would say put yourself in the middle if you want the best experience! We will definitely come back next year and I am so happy that we have something like this in crown point for the season!

But I admit that the only ones I've been to were in the suburbs. You name 'em, I've been to 'em. This year, however, I was curious if there were any *good* ones in the city. In the past I avoided the city haunts because they're tame compared to the big budget ones out in the 'burbs. There's a great resource for haunted houses in Illinois (hauntedillinois.com) and found this one at St. Thecla's Church. Tonight was the last night for this haunted house, so we were excited to see the grande finale. Walking towards the entrance, we heard loud screams from within. So far, so good! We were greeted by a creepy character telling us to move forward into the maze. It was dark, foggy, and scary... I could already feel my palms sweat. The actors did a fantastic job. They had different sets and scenes. My favorite room was the clown room with the strobe lights (an excellent special effect for haunted houses). The glow in the dark dots room was also very cool. They even had a chainsaw guy at the end. I considered it a success, since I screamed throughout the whole ordeal. As the other reviewers noted, this was a surprisingly great haunt for just $5. I've definitely been to scarier haunted houses, but they did an awesome job, especially since this was their first year. I'm looking forward to going here next year :)

It starts out with a very creepy entranceway going down the back stairs to the basement of the church, which adds to the atmosphere. The haunt is very professionally decorated with the right amount of darkness, not too much where you are groping your way through but not too little where everything is visible. The maze was well done and along with the occasional strobe lighting, provided for a bit of fun disorientation. The actors also do an excellent job of popping out unexpectedly and startling patrons with loud noises. When it comes to haunted houses, somebody at St. Thecla's has definately done their homework here!!! Just a note: Even though the signs all say open until ten on Thursdays, make sure you get there early as they stop ticket sales at 9:15 because of the curfew for kids.

All this took place in the church gymnasium and the haunted house was in the church's basement. The latter was a bit of an oxymoron for me but to each his own. The kiddie games were okay, but seemed like it was catered for younger kids 6 and under. The face painting and the balloon artists were pretty dope. We got there close to when the event opened, so the lines were really short and we were able to take advantage of all the activities. The petting zoo was impressive also. They had a couple goats, some potbellied pigs, a GIANT rabbit (trust me that thing was HUGE!) and some normal rabbits, and a couple chickens. It was enough to entertain this animal lover. The animals were all very cute and friendly. For $1 your kids can also decorate a cupcake. And if you are lucky, you can catch Elmo and take a pic with him. The haunted house was definitely worth the $10. Loved how it was very kid friendly. They really put lots of effort into decorating that thing and i can see how it would freak most adults out during the normal scare hours. For the kids, you just walked through the whole thing and at every station, there was someone in costume with candy for the trick or treaters. No one would jump out cuz that would cause a lot of crying kids. It was pretty long too, so definitely worth it!

The fun started right away with a spinning tunnel and tons of characters even before we hit the line! Once we got in line we enjoyed a DJ blasting tunes and taking photos with our new and haunted friends. Then we got a profesh pic taken with some of the cast, and off we went into the haunted house. I enjoy a haunted house that preys on all of your senses, and Basement of the Dead is just that. There's smells, there's sights, there's weird sensations under your feet, blasting music or silence, depending where you are in the house. Thankfully, no taste involved, but I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to do it, eventually. My one caveat is, I don't want to be put into annoying precarious positions. I promise I won't be anymore scared if you make me crawl or squeeze through a haunted house - but I will for sure never come back. Basement of the Dead doesn't have any of that BS - and they manage to scare you without it. Since it was Valentine's Day weekend, we got a single light up rose to guide us through the dark hallways inside, and though it was totally shtick-y - it was actually useful at times too! The house is long, not boring long but worth-your-money long, and there's a bazillion themes along the way. They actually had one or two concepts I've never experienced before, which is tough for someone who goes to as many haunted houses as we do! I see they're open year round for their escape room business, and I'd love to go back and check one out. We'll also def be back at Halloween!
