I don't leave a five star review often, but I think 131 Main deserves it. Although I've been to this establishment before, I've never visited this particular location. It's been on the to-do list for a long time, and today we decided to go for it. I was very impressed when I walked in: the decor the vibe, just everything felt top-notch and upscale. Although we arrived on a Sunday with no reservations, we had no problem getting a table, nor getting fast service. All of the servers we encountered were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Jordayn was our primary server and she was awesome. We ended up ordering the cast iron cornbread of course, can't come here and not have that. Also got a side salad and some deviled eggs, and for my entree I had the blackened chicken pasta. Everything was absolutely delicious, and again the service was top-notch. I don't usually get dessert, but the options sounded very good so we decided to get the strawberry shortcake which was a biscuit topped with vanilla bean ice cream and sweetened strawberries.. it was so so good. Even when you walk up to the restaurant, the smell from the woodfired oven just takes you in before you hit the door. This place is nice, but in my humble opinion nothing actually justified the costs. We were seated right on time, but the menu should have been written in braille! It was much too dark in there, but I was happy to see that each of the servers had on masks. My compadres ordered the steak and lamb and raved about it. I don't eat red meat or pork so I selected the Chicken Linguine pasta. The cocktail menu was certainly exciting, but there was so much we couldn't get because of supply chain issues. I arrived home later only to find on the receipt that we were charged for two drinks that we didn't get. I also ordered a side of deviled eggs that never came. They completely dropped the ball when it came to dessert. Key lime pie, Expresso Brownie, Banana Cream Pie and a Peanut butter cream pie. Nobody wanted any of that. As politely put.... The ladies bathrooms could have really used some tending to. Bread wasn't brought to the table. Our server was switched part way through our meal. Nobody said anything to us, we just suddenly had a different server. Three hundred dollars later, and I have to say there is a lot of room for improvement. *I was contacted by the manager, Tom. Sincere apologies were offered and accepted. I appreciated the gesture. I will go back and hopefully have a better experience. If a revision is in order, I will happily post it right here. read more

Went for a family member's birthday the other night and had a great experience. It's a lively restaurant and was bustling on a Monday night. Great service which was attentive and helpful. Great menu that was well-executed by the chef. Everyone's meal was spot-on. I had the cowboy salad and finished it even though it looked huge when brought to the table. Walked in...immediately greeted, lobby "bustling"!!! Bar full. We chose to wait in lobby. Kept updated by staff. We chose to eat on patio...not a great view (across street from new hospital), but much quieter for us ‍ Loved seeing the open kitchen w/ meat/fish on grill. Aromas amazing! Excellent meal for both of us. Joseph K took such wonderful care of us...very friendly, appreciated his recommendations. Happily switched our side choices. We opted for trout...expertly grilled w/ add on side wedge & green beans (a bit heavy on the country ham), husband ordered the baby back ribs sides baby red potatoes & asparagus. Our own version of surf & turf! Ribs fall off the bone tender. Excellent bbq sauce: not overwhelming or too sweet. We shared everything! Sooo wonderful Staff so attentive & friendly. We ordered the double dip app which is like a modern take on pimento cheese - guacamole and fire roasted salsa - put it this way WE ATE IT ALL! Lol I chose the rib n chicken plate - the ribs were smoky moist and fall of the bone tender with some of the best bbq sauce I've had and the rotisserie chicken was way better than any rotisserie I've had. I had the sweet curry corn and white cheddar grits and WOW as my dad would make you wanna slap yo momma they so good! The hubby had the salmon with a Dijon mustard sauce that he said was delish and the wild rice he said it was Purty good! We had the nicest waitress Erin who gave us a complimentary dessert - strawberry shortcake and whew I tried to eat my fingers! Lol The only negative - we enjoy outdoor dining but they need to spray for flies they became quite the pest while eating one even flew in my hubby's wine and it had to be replaced! And it's pricey! We came here on a Saturday evening (with reservations), and was seated right away. The staff was courteous and the whole restaurant was packed. Not everyone was wearing masks and that included the chefs, servers and bus boys/girls. The double dip was amazing! The guac was chunky and the cheddar dip was tasty with the restaurant style tortillas. The cream of mushroom & artichoke soup was delicious and had the perfect amount of citrus flavor to brighten it up. The filet was cooked perfectly and the demi-glaze add-on was a must! The amount of mashed potatoes was surprising! There was literally a mountain! The salmon on cedar plank was cooked perfectly. I added a side of their mango salsa and it was the perfect combination. The jumbo asparagus was grilled perfectly and super tender. The key lime pie was a refreshing end to a delicious meal. I would definitely recommend and return! I had a fried fish sandwich and salad, and it was all delicious. The fish was huge and hanging out of the bun. A little pricey for lunch for me being single and retired, but it was a nice treat and eating outdoors was lovely, sitting out on the water and seeing the boats. read more

131 Main is the premier restaurant in the area for those smokehouse smells that greet you in the parking lot tempting you inside for a rack of BBQ ribs or a Chicago Strip steak. It's always busy and the food is consistently great albeit a little on the pricey side...however portions are huge and large enough to ostensibly have at least one meal's worth of leftovers. The bar is a little destination all in its own right because the drinks are classic but with a modern twist. Always great - try the cucumber gimlet or a dirty martini! Went for dinner on a weeknight and we had: *2 cocktails $26 * tuna stack appetizer $19 *BBQ ribs + 2 sides $30 *caesar salad $14 *banana cream pie $forgot About $150 for 2 people and while I don't typically love to spend that much for dinner out, it does feel worth it when the service, food, ambience and bar all align and do it as well as 131. One of my best dining experiences in the entire Charlotte area. Very courteous and attentive staff. Very charming, comfortable and intimate interior space. Absolutely top-notch food and drinks. The entrance is a little odd in that it's the back side of the shops but when you go under the archway it's immediately on your right. We were there on a slow night, but our friends who died with us said if you don't have a reservation, you can forget about a table on Friday nights or the weekends. And fortunately it's easy to make a reservation through their website. Definitely looking forward to another visit. PS get the shrimp cocktail appetizer. I would say that 131Main has the highest quality food in the Lake Norman area by far, but there is very little change in their menu. Always the same, nothing new. It would be nice to offer more vegetables on their menu like baked potato's, broccoli, carrots and spinach. The atmosphere is very nice and comfortable. read more

I visited this location July 2022. For the appetizer, we ordered the Cast Iron Corn Bread I rate it a 5/5. For my entree, I ordered Southern Shrimp and Grits. It was not my favorite, I'll give it 2/5. For dessert, I ordered the brownie. It was good, I'll give it a 4/5. (Not pictured) I ordered the Blueberry Mule and the Garden Fresh Lemon Drop. They were hard to enjoy because they were strong. I'll give them both 2/5. I was treating someone for their birthday and they chose this place for the peanut butter pie dessert. Unfortunately, the peanut butter pie is seasonal and not available. Overall, this is a really nice establishment but I'm not sure if I'd revisit. read more
