Worked with me on short notice. Quiet kind service next time I may ask for more pressure but this was a gold first trial.

I'm currently a student at ASMT. I chose this school mainly for its affordability compared to other…read morelocal programs, and the convenience of being close to home. I appreciate the flexibility--they allow you to start quickly, even before completing basics. The basics course requires commitment, but it goes by fast. Clinical hours can be a challenge, but if you stay consistent, you'll build your skills and master your 60-minute massage (bringing in friends and family definitely helps with client hours). I'll likely finish in about nine months, which feels like a realistic timeline. I also like that they provide job postings for students. Amanda and JT are great instructors with different teaching styles--Amanda is structured and detail-oriented, while JT encourages you to find your own flow, and his freestyle method allows you to really solidify what you're looking for in your work. Both are very passionate about what they do. As for elective classes, which I believe are also open to the public for continuing education, Pam just finished teaching Trigger Point, and I've heard she's retiring, which is unfortunate for future students. Her class was very detail-oriented and really helped me learn and retain muscle work. Brian Falk, who taught Orthopedic Shiatsu, was also incredible--if he comes back, this would be a great class to take. His class was life-changing, and I use those techniques in all my massages now. Tina's Thai class was another standout. I loved her no-video approach--learning by watching and taking notes really changed my perspective. She's a kind, passionate teacher who has been with the school for over 30 years. As for class size, there isn't really a set number. My class had seven students, and I've heard of classes as small as four. The smaller sizes can be great for more hands-on attention, but one thing the school could consider is keeping class sizes more balanced since we practice on each other. I'm also really glad for the people I met in my class--I've definitely made lifelong friends, and we support each other throughout the program. I encourage future students to continue getting massages even after basics, because physical health is so important, and it's a great way to support each other while finishing clinical hours.

My girlfriend and I were looking all around for a good massage at a decent price and let me just tell you we were beyond lucky to have found this massage school!! It is such a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. Very welcoming and comforting people!! I did not want to leave. Lindsey gave me my massage and let me just tell you she was so professional!! Unfortunately she had just graduated the day I came in for my massage, but I would follow her wherever she ends up!!! She ensured throughout my massage that the pressure was good and that she wasnt working my muscles to much for my tolerance. I have never felt so amazing after a massage. I also slept like a rock that night. So happy to have found this school of massage!! I will definitely be back to support and I will spread the word of my experience.

After graduating in 2017, I have helped hundreds of people with the tools I learned at BTI from Katie and other great teachers. My business is thriving because of what I learned there, which I cannot imagine learning as deeply anywhere else. Also, it is a great place to receive bodywork and massage from the students, and for a very inexpensive price, as well as you can book with Katie or other teachers and receive a reasonably priced, and wonderful, professional healing session. I cannot recommend BTI enough!

I just finished the Massage Business class in Dec, and Katie put a ton of work into teaching us important rules and regulations, finding amazing presenters, asking us what we want to learn, and making sure our, my needs and questions were met. I can't recommend the Santa Barbara Body Institute enough! Whether you want to learn for yourself and loved ones as I started out, or to become a professional, as I'm ending up. Thank you Katie and Gael!! Also, the massages I have received here have been great! Students are learning but still do great, and there is always a teacher on hand to add additional great value to technique and needs! Thank you! Gabriela Radu.
