The server was friendly and took my order. Kiosk ordering is another option. I like their simple menu with specials on occasions. I always get my sugar cane drink with kumquat flavor. It is such a refreshing drink. I love that their drinks are natural with no added sugar or preservatives! Highly recommend!

Tiny store but serves big flavors! Amazing!!! Need to go back!!…read more One of the best sugar cane drinks I've ever had! (Better than Vita Cane in my opinion) All natural juices, no added sugars, no preservatives, made fresh daily! Half Cane Half Coco (half sugar cane and half coconut, large, iced, $9 plus tax) The sugar cane flavor was super prominent, and it tasted so good! It also comes with a few pieces of coconut. Glad that they didn't add too much ice. Would have loved to get it without ice, but $15 for a large without ice is quite pricey. They also have a special deal for the day, not sure how often they change the deals, but you could get a medium drink of their special for $5.50 which is not bad! The special for today was the pineapple sugarcane. The menu is not super big, which I like, while still having a good number of options. They have a kiosk for you to order or you can order with the staff. The staff member was nice to give me some recs when I asked what's popular. They also have dehydrated chili mango for sale on the side for $6.50 per container. The inside was nice and clean. I don't recall if there are seats. It's mostly an order-and-go type of place. It wasn't busy when I went around 1pm, and the drink only took 3 minutes to be ready! Lots of parking spaces in the parking lot shared with other businesses. Fresh Cane has its own reserved parking right in front of their store, so that was very convenient! Never knew a store like this existed so close to me!! I was in desperate need of hydration, so I decided to check this place out and I'm so glad I did! Highly recommend!!

Yuen Fung Sum Yong Trading store is located in the San Gabriel Superstore complex (at the corner of…read moreSan Gabriel and Valley). As you'd suspect, it serves the Chinese-speaking community specializing in Ginseng as well as other "health" items. Ginseng is believed to deliver many benefits as a stimulant, aphrodisiac, or general cure for whatever ails you. Since it only grows in a few places in the world and ... apparently ... has wide variances in quality, Ginseng can range in prices dramatically. Yuen Fung Sum Yong is one of the "cheaper" sellers of Ginseng in the area, but it can still be hundreds of bucks for a small pack of "the good stuff." This store's main offering is Made in America Wisconsin Ginseng; however, wild Ginseng, Bird's Nests, Shark's Fins (allegedly), and other rare Asian medicinal and health foods are available, too. Bring someone who speaks Mandarin to negotiate ... and good luck. There's got to be a price you can both agree is fair. Parking is free for the entire shopping center.

The people there are very friendly and taught me a lot about how to prepare the ginseng. They also sell bird nest and other Chinese herbal supplements in the store. Sandwiches start at just $4.99 and they use Boar's Head meats, which already puts it above your typical grocery store sandwich. You can choose from their preset options or build your own. I went with a turkey sandwich on sourdough with all the add-ons, and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. They'll even toast the bread for you, which makes a big difference. What really stood out is the value--you can load up your sandwich and still keep it under $10. They also have combo options where you can get a drink and a bag of chips for $5.99, making it an easy and affordable meal. Quick, convenient, and budget-friendly. Definitely a good spot if you're in the area and need a simple lunch.

See hilarious review below by Robert H!…read more I would like to add my 2 cents on the sandwich situation, which depending on the time of the day you hit up the deli, can be very dire. The older Hispanic ladies who make the sandwiches in the morning = amazing. Love them. They are warm, kind, quick, and attention-detailed. The sandwiches they make? Literally chef's kiss! Heaven on earth! Now onto the men who the make the sandwiches later in the day. Complete night and day. Watching them make sandwiches is like watching Down Syndrome people compete in the Special Olympics or the infants race in those baby crawl races. No directions, no focus, no sense of urgency. Think of the slothes working at the DMV from Zootopia. They talk to each other. They stare at the sandwich order print outs. They make the sandwiches haphazardly. And they still get the sandwiches wrong! How can you make sandwiches wrong when the pace has been so leisurely?? In conclusion, can Sprouts please please please, for the love of God (or the universe if you're an atheist), hire more ladies to work during the lunch times and evening times?!

The Green Grocer was founded by two folx of color a year or so ago and is at the intersection of El Sereno, South Pas, and Alhambra (next to the neighborhood favorite Charles Trio). Co-owner Erika will welcome you with her big smile and vibrant spirit. As you browse their well-curated selection of breads, beverages, veggies, spices, desserts, and so much more...you start to notice the products by women of color small businesses and many hyperlocal growers (the lavender is from Bell, my hometown!) and it makes you feel good. Good to know that even though some prices might be a bit steeper than the box chain stores, you have confidence that your money actually supports a small business and in turn our community. Personally, I align with their overall ethos and feel at home every time I visit. Invest in yourself through yummy locally sourced foods (vegan options available) and stay for the good company and conversation (don't forget to check out the community cork board, too!). All the staff are very knowledgeable and super sweethearts. Stop by when you're in the neighborhood but don't forget to check their open hours beforehand. Also, there is a hidden little parking lot down a short alleyway behind the laundromat. I would recommend following them on IG for all the updates, weekly specialty foods, and weekend pop-ups where they feature a small cafe, bakery, etc. Who knows...I might just run into you there right before closing as I grab their chipotle crab ceviche and house chips to-go (my fav)!
