This was the most amazing meal we ate in three weeks in Italy -- and we ate loads of great food…read more L'Evangelista is a vey upscale restaurant on a quiet street a block off the main pedestrian thoroughfare. While it follows the form of apertivo, primi, segundi, dolci, this is not traditional Italian cuisine but what I've seen termed as "Italian contemporary cuisine." That means world class, innovative food. And we loved it. Simone Ferrigno, the manager, greeted us when we arrived and seated us at an elegantly laid out table. We ordered wine and our food, and the show began with beautiful dish after beautiful dish. And fabulous wines. We chatted with the German couple at the next table who had ordered the vegan tasting menu and they were in heaven. Alas I cannot for the life of me find the receipt with the names of the dishes we ordered. If I find it, I'll update my review. I'll just say this, exquisite food, world-class service in a beautiful ambience. After we had paid our bill (thank goodness the dollar is up relative to the Euro) and we started walking away, Simone ran after us to ask how our experience was and to thank us for our patronage. Note: A reservation is essential at L'Evangelista. I just noticed that Yelp has two Euro symbols to indicate the price is moderate. I'd actually give it four Euro symbols. L'Evangelista is not for you if you're on a tight a budget.

The place isn't that big I did do a reservation as the Sunday when I did try to go I got turned away because it was packed.

You can order wine or beer by the glass and they also have a very extensive selection of bottles, too. Their food offerings are all small plates/finger foods/antipasti items. Lovely seating outside and a few tables inside. On our first visit to Vineria Parilon, I had a couple glasses of delicious prosecco (for just €3 per glass!!) and my hubby had a session IPA from Crak, a local brewery near Padova. It's hard to find really great beer in Italy, so this was a happy discovery! We shared a meat and cheese board, which was tasty. Would like to go back for some of their spunciotti. Covered in rosemary, it was the perfect size post risotto. The highlight was a couple next to me with the most well behaved chihuahua I've ever seen! Just sat on a pillow the whole time and didn't make a peep. I looked at the pup a few times and smiled. As his owner stood up to put his jacket on, he just handed me the dog to hold.
