Ink was available for We Crossers of the International Date Line/Zulu Meridian. I passed, having already been punctured by enough vaccinations to protect me almost anywhere. I did not get my hair cut here, nor was I pierced. I appreciate Manny's as an art and community space. I participate in Protectors of the Salt River, a South Phoenix Centered gathering of people mobilizing Sunday mornings to remove the Yellow Stinknet invasive weed from, for now, the Audubon Center acreage south of the Salt River on Central Ave. After our morning weed pull, we gather again to a morning meal served by a local micro biz. It is a great social time, starting in the green weed areas, continuing through the meal. We gathered at Manny's, November 9, 2025. The building and grounds crlebrate murals and South Phoenix muralists. The parking lot had a large exhibition of 4x8 panels showing artist works. Manny's is spacious. Inside, a waiting area with a table, sofas, pool table etc. Select art is displayed on the walls. I hear this is a primero gathering spot for valley low rider events, with the body and suspension art plus low rider imagery. The light rail is bringing new energy to South Phoenix. Manny's is part of that. The people living here up to six, or more, generations are expressing themselves in new, creative ways. Learn and grow.

My friend and I had spent all day looking for a shop to pierce her ears and found that almost all the shops reeked of marijuana and lacked sanitary hygiene. We stumbled upon Valhalla modifications and called the shop, spoke to the owner, and he had told us he could take walk-ins. We arrived 15 minutes later, and he opened us with open arms. He was probably one of the most genuine and attentive people I have ever met. His shop was clean and did NOT reek of marijuana. He spent at least 30 minutes explaining to my friend the options for earrings and how they all differ and benefit her. He was extremely thorough. When piercing her ears, he explained how he would pierce them, why he chose the angles he did and also explained to her everything he was doing as he was doing it. My friend and I were comfortable with the choices, and I decided to get the word "strength" tattooed on my right wrist. The tattoo placement and word I had chosen were a little more complicated than other work he had done due to the thickness and style I wanted to do. He told me he would take a little longer to ensure the tattoo looked best. I was okay with that. He had me revise the tattoo multiple times and let him know if I wanted anything corrected. The tattoo remains one of my favorites, and I loved our overall experience. Wes (the owner) is a talented artist! I DEFINITELY recommend this shop and look forward to coming back.
