He was on a Job a few blocks away but promised to be at my house. 30--45 minutes later and he kept his promise. He checked out the area, went to get a new heater and installed it.The actual working time was approximately 90 minutes to two hours. He is billing us so I don't know the cost but I am sure it is WAY LESS than the $14,000 that the first company estimated for us or the $500 labor charge another company was asking for. The following week, i called a different plumber. He spent 45 minutes checking all the toilets, irrigation, and pool and found that the pool auto-refill was damaged. He fixed it on the spot.

They scheduled the time frame of the job to occur shortly after the delivery window by Costco and also assured me that the technicians would haul away the old dishwasher. The technicians called me when they were on the way and arrived on time. They were both professional and described what they were going to do. After the installation of the new dishwasher, they explained how the air gap works better than the existing high-loop drain hose I had. They ran the dishwasher to check for leaks, cleaned up, removed the old dishwasher and hauled it away. I'm a DIY'r and would normally do this work myself but since installation was included with Costco delivery, I was able to do other things during the install. My previous dishwasher had been installed and operating without issue for over 10 years using an existing high-loop drain. Before doing any work, the installer insisted I needed an air gap and demanded an additional $360 to complete the installation. I respectfully asked whether this was actually required by Hawaii plumbing code or simply their company policy. I explained that Hawaii's plumbing amendments allow a properly installed high loop in many situations and asked if they could show me the specific code requiring an air gap for my installation. Instead of answering my questions professionally, the installer's attitude changed immediately. He became rude, argumentative, and ultimately walked off the job without completing the installation. I have video of the entire interaction. As a customer, I wasn't refusing legitimate code requirements. I was simply asking for an explanation before agreeing to an unexpected $360 charge on what Costco advertised as a free installation. This experience felt like an attempt to upsell unnecessary work rather than provide the service I had already paid for through Costco. Customers deserve honesty, professionalism, and respectful communication--not pressure tactics and an abandoned installation. I expected much better from a contractor representing Costco. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Loyalty Plumbing.
