Today Saturday around 4:30-5 PM--just before closing--our apartment community faced a critical issue when both boilers went out, leaving our residents without hot water. Charlotte went above and beyond to resolve the situation and truly pulled off a miracle. Even without any technicians on call, she was able to find someone willing to come out on their day off to troubleshoot and begin restoring hot water to our community. 1 Hour Drain just came to my house to unclog my shower drain due to my 13 year old daughters extremely long hair. Kyle from One Hour Drain came to my Condo Complex yesterday due to a leak. He was excellent. Professional, knowledgeable, pleasant, personable, and efficient. The whole package. He, with the help of Anthony, also from One Hour Drain, quickly and efficiently identified the location of the leak and they stayed from 6-9 pm to fix it. I've already recommended him to a commercial real estate company I know that is in need of a good plumbing company because theirs closed down (One Hour Drain's web site says they do residential and commercial). They were scheduled to arrive between 3-5 pm and by 4:50 pm I called the company to see if they were on their way. I was told they would arrive in 40 minutes, which they approximately did (Bay Area traffic during commuter hours is brutal). It would be nice for the company to alert customers to a change in the scheduled arrival time. read more

They were contracted by HOA to install a backdraft damper on a dryer vent duct. It's not clear to me why HOA asked a plumbing company to do this sort of job, but that's a separate issue, since they accepted the work. They installed the backdraft damper backwards. If we hadn't noticed the issue when we were pushing the dryer back in position, this would have been a serious fire hazard. It seems there was a combination of issues: - Poor management: they accepted a simple job that they weren't competent enough to do. - Poor execution: They attempted to do it, and failed to check very basic functionality (the direction of the backdraft damper), introducing a fire hazard. read more

I had these guys come to my condo late April this year to look at my shower because there was no hot water coming out. The plumber looked at it and changed the temperature to make it hotter. I was sent a bill for about $171 which I thought was reasonable at the time. So everything was fine until 2 weeks ago when there was only extremely hot water coming out. I tried calling 1 hour drain first because I wanted to find out why there was a problem again with that same shower. After not getting a response, I had someone else come out to try to fix it and he took everything apart to inspect each part. It turns out that the pressure balancing valve was damaged and he said that it was from years of wear and tear. We had to buy the part from a specialty store and the part cost me about $81 after tax. My issue is that I wasted my time and money because the original plumber didn't do it right the first time around and tried to take the easy way out. I actually could have done it myself from watching YouTube because all the videos tell you exactly how to inspect the cartridge and valve. I tried to calling 1 hour drain again to find a resolution and left a message with my order number. They have yet to call me back. Terrible company! read more

Previously I had a negative experience with 1-hour Drain being contracted by HOA to fix a dryer vent and introducing a fire risk by installing it backwards. Now another issue has come out from a service request from a few months ago. They were asked to clean the dryer vent box on our roof, and inspect the grate (we were told that it wasn't up to code by another contractor), but they didn't clean it. We would have chosen another contractor but our HOA had already agreed to use them. read more

To say we're dissatisfied with the service would be an understatement. Starting on Sunday, our tub has been sitting out of commission with black sludge caked along the bottom, and tub hardware left to the side (face plate, debris catcher); it still remains in this condition after the job was said to be completed on Tuesday. Our shower/tub had been out of commission for 2+ days while it was being "repaired" and each of our family members (including children) were looking forward to showering and bathing upon learning it was fixed, but were then faced with an evening of cleaning and disinfecting the bathtub. Upon attempting to clean the tub, I then discovered that the drain was even slower than it was when we originally called (there was still water in the tub the next morning). I'm extremely appalled at this lack of common courtesy on the part of the service technician and blatant disregard for my family's health. In addition to the mess left behind, the job was not even complete as the tub hardware is still sitting on the edge of the bathtub. I can only assume there was a mistake on the property management's side in alerting that the job was complete. Still, to leave a family without a shower/tub for multiple days and without warning in inexcusable. read more

These guys came out to my house to do what I thought was an easy hookup for a washer dryer. Turns out the previous plumber had left the old pipes but had capped off the water line, below them. So not such an easy job, afterall. They resolved it pretty well. There was a minor hiccup, but they made it right, in the end. read more

i am a very, very happy camper now! earlier today noticed my laundry sink was draining slow but it did empty. later in the afternoon, noticed a very stinky smell in the bathroom. thought it was the cats' litter box but it wasn't. thought my new kitten might've used the tub instead of the box and whew! it looked like something exploded in there! looked in my other bathroom, same stuff in the shower. called the city because i've had tree root problems before and they said nope, it's clean and clear. tried to find someone to check out this problem before i can't breathe anymore. found someone to come by who wouldn't listen to what i had to say & said it was a tree root problem. gave me an outrageous estimate. didn't expect it to be quite that high even though it's a saturday. called around some more, everyone was closed or too busy. then i got lucky! Patrick came out and did the dirty work. i now have a working toilet and clean facilities! he did an excellent job and the price was half as much as the first idiot i called. he listened to what i had to say and understood what needed to be done. he was pretty quick and very pleasant to deal with. i will definitely use them again. wish i'd found them sooner when i needed my water heater replaced. will call when my kitchen work gets going and when i get my bathrooms redone. excellent work! read more
