Stumbled upon this place while walking from bar to bar. Can't beat the price and honestly it was really fresh as the guy makes one pie at a time until it sells out. I remember this place being one of the last standing spots with 1$ slice not too long ago. It was Also my favorite 1$ Slice in the entire city. Now being 1.5$ it has become and still my best spot to grab a slice or 2. If you want to grab a slice during rush hours then be ready for few minutes wait, because this place gets busy really quick but patience cause the wait is worth it. Some seats are available near by so you could eat your slice as soon as you get it. Taste wise, the slice is truly delicious. There is enough cheese without too much or too little tomato sauce. The dough is always good and crispy which gives a big push to the slice. I will also recommend coming during rush hours (I know I said it gets busy) but thats the best time you will get a slice fresh out of the even and it makes the bites 10 times better. one more thing, they do have parmesan cheese to sprinkle over your slice if you feeling extra cheesy, something I rarely see at pizza slice shops. We were about to leave NYC but we couldn't without having some cheap slices! lol I see $1.50 pizza used to be 99 cents - inflation is a painful reality! It's still a great deal and the pizza was truly fresh. They had a line and they were churning out orders quickly. I believe it was cash only. It's a no-frills order up at the counter type place. All the usual fixings are available for you on the side - Parmesan, oregano, red chili pepper flakes, etc. No seating inside but lots of public seating with tables nearby which was super convenient. This was really good. Honestly, a few of us were a little scared to have 1.50 pizza in New York City. because that seems unheard of. But it was beyond her expectations. We had some of the cheese pizza, and then we paid a little extra for some of the ones with toppings, and each one of us loved our pizza. One of my favorite things about about New York is that you can get tasty slices for really cheap, and you can't really beat $1.50 for a slice! Grabbed a plain pie for $12 and took it up to the room at Westin grand central. The guy at the counter (who was also the cook, yeah real big place) was friendly enough. The pizza tasted good, I wish it was cooked a bit longer though. I could have asked for well done and didn't so I'll take that on me. They also cooked it on a screen which I don't love. I want that bottom of the pizza right on the stone. Cheese to sauce ratio was solid and the dough had good flavor. All in all, I'd grab another one and ask for it crispy. Word on the street that this is the best 99c pizza in NYC. Now I don't have 99c pizza often because I tend to dislike it, but I decided to give this place a try because I heard it was a bit of a hidden gem. They still honor 99c pizza - you can get two slices and a drink for 3.00 which is a steal, esp with how inflation is these days (3/31/23). I got exactly that and have to say that the cheese an tomato sauce are the winners here. It was actually kind of good, and beats all the dollar pizza I've had to date. The crust is a bit airy and not like super super thin or crispy the way I like my pizza, and does taste a bit cardboardy but knowing that it was just a dollar, I'm pretty happy and can see why people consider this spot the BEST 99c pizza in NYC. Wishing this place all the success! Look for the green sign - and check out their menu listed outside, you can get whole pies and limited toppings are available for whole pies. I knew I couldn't leave New York City without trying out a .99 cent pizza joint. It was my last night and this place closed very late. We got to our hotel, I got comfortable and then decided to walk here for one last quick bite for my last night in the Big Apple. 99 Cent Fresh Pizza didn't disappoint. It tasted fresh and was very cheesy. Could have used a little bit more sauce, but otherwise a perfect slice of just 99 cents. One thing thing that to have noticed in the NYC pizzerias is not only do they offer Parmesan cheese and red pepper, but they also offer garlic salt. In Chicago we offer oregano, but garlic salt makes the pizza taste fantastic. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for this pizzeria next time I'm in town. read more

Was kind of shocked when I received my slice of "chicken ranch" pizza ($2.50) as it appeared to be literally a slice of cheese pizza with chopped up chicken nuggets and ranch dolloped on top. Before going on vacation, I was warned by my NYC colleagues to avoid the dollar pizza places since they mentioned it isn't great. With that being said, a dollar pizza is still pretty intriguing since it kind of feels like a very NY thing to find a slice that cheap. In any case, I just happened by this place as I was walking to check-in at a nearby hotel. The dollar slice is just a plain cheese slice. I think since they sell so many slices, their cheese is hot and gooey since it never sits too long in the counter. There's just enough tomato sauce on it to make you realize they did add it, but otherwise it's pretty skim. In fairness, this isn't supposed to be a meal substitute. It's good for a quick snack, especially at night when a lot of places are closed. I picked up 2 slices and a canned soda for $3. You really can't beat that. The place is really small since most of the back is for their ovens. There's probably only enough room for 4 people to wait inside. When you get to the counter, you just tell them what you want, pay (cash only), and they hand you the slices. You can add some pepper flakes, parmesan, or oregano at the side and walk out. There's no place to sit or stand inside to eat. If you're waiting for an entire pie, you'll definitely need to stand outside. read more
