Super convenient bakery located in Mong Kok across from quite a few hotels - couldn't believe I had actually passed by it several times without actually noticing it until the last day I was in Hong Kong. Walking to Blackball, I was greeted by several people standing outside Bread Man as they offered samples of cookies. I love bakeries, especially the ones in Hong Kong, but hearing "and everything is buy one get one free for the bread and cakes" ... um, who am I to walk away from that!
The store owners and workers were so welcoming, offering to help us grab any bread that we wanted or introduce any items that we might have been unfamiliar with. We ended up buying two pineapple buns, so with the deal both were under $1 USD. Such a steal!
Went to Blackball to order my dessert, but as we walked back to the hotel, of course we passed by again, and this time my dad headed inside to take a closer look at the selection. The workers recognized us and offered to help us once more, telling us that they had just opened so they were doing their BOGO promotion on Sunday's for a limited time. All in all, we ended up buying a total of 4 breads for the price of 2.
Pineapple bun was good - not as good as the Kee-Wah Bakery in the US, but they were pretty decent. The bread was soft and the pineapple crust on top was sweet enough. But I also ate it before boarding my plane back home, so I wasn't feeling too happy. Although I didn't taste the other bread that my dad bought, I do remember them saying that everything was pretty tasty. And the cookie samples were really good, too!
Glad I was able to buy some bread whilst taking advantage of their BOGO promotion. Workers are super nice. The storefront is in a really good location. Definitely come by if you're in the area to check out their bakery selection! read more
