I probably walked past 香港仔 at least 50x before I decided to ultimately give it a shot. After 3 consecutive visits, I'm not that impressed given all the options in the area. Part of the "Aberdeen" HK cafe chain, this one is privy to the tourist action as it basically neighbors a lot of the major hotels in the hood.
That said, this place is packed. Almost all the time. A lot of mainlander tourist action up in this spot; the super bright interior is always an attraction for these dark streets and it tends to fill up with people during peak times. The nice thing about the Aberdeen spots are that there are so many of them, that they will end up seating you at another location rather than risk you waiting too long in line.
Food wise, there isn't much to write about. That's not to say everything is bad of course, there are some solid dishes, say your average wonton noodle (混吞面). I got a little fancy as with my four treasures (四寶力生丐) and their mediocre Taiwanese minced pork rice (滷肉飯) imitation (noted as "梅剃肉飯" and lauded the attempt.
Service is a bit rough around the edges. You'd think for the prices they're charging ($60HKD+ per dish combo), they'd be a little nicer. I'm not looking forward to coming back anytime soon. read more
