During the day it's not so bad, still a little creepy, but at night it can be a little bit scary. Not scary for me... *cough* I mean could be scary for others... In the hotel's front patio there are a number of alabaster-white statues with missing limbs dotted around the place. I'm pretty sure they were meant to add some sort of artistic value but I think they are freaky. Don't judge a book by its cover, so I've been told! Inside the Inn it gets better - less scary, more normal. I noticed a restaurant on the ground floor though I never ate there, instead I chose to check in and go straight to my room. It was a garden view, the cheapest of the lot, and didn't offer much other than a bed and bathroom. The air-con and fridge were working, just at monstrous levels. Not a problem for an HK kid like me, where by if I don't have a certain level of noise it becomes too quiet to sleep! So what, I thought, I got this room on Groupon or something, what could I expect? I slept pretty well that night and it was the next morning when I fully realised the value of this place. Location, location, location. It is literally thirty seconds from the beach. Waking up and being able to hear the waves of the sea, have a stroll on the beach, or simply look out at all the islands puts the price of the place in perspective. We stayed a total of two nights, spending most of our time away from the actual hotel and on the beach, or nearby beaches of Lantau, but no nasty stuff to report. A great place for a weekend getaway out of the city, I can tell you, but don't expect any frills.

Also, the hotel has a shuttle every 15 minutes from the airport that will take you to or from the airport. I believe the shuttle ends at 9 PM (or later) so be sure to time your flight accordingly. Staff can speak English and can also give recommendations of where to go. The room itself was spacious and had a great view of the city. The shower even has a retractable clothesline in case you want to hang dry your clothes. The best part of the hotel has to be the fact that it is a part of the outlet. There's a 7 11 and McDonalds about five minutes from the hotel lobby. The MTR station is also close by and easy to access. During the day you can shop or check out the restaurants. Although you do not get the actual city action of HK it is still a neat place to stay for a couple days if you're just passing through or not planning to do anything too wild. But if you want to go into the city, just take the MTR and you'll be set!

They have a free airport shuttle and the staff was eager to assist with loading the luggage onto and off the shuttle. The rooms are small but clean. Considering how close the hotel is to the motorway, the rooms are quite quiet. They provide toiletries and boxed water, though no coffee/tea maker. Air filter machine in the room as well. Overall, a nice, reasonably priced hotel near the airport and Ngong Ping 360 (I could even see Ngong Ping 360 from my room).

It was very spacious with a sitting area and huge bathroom with large shower which looked out to the water. The view was incredible and I loved being able to watch the sunrise over the water. On my second visit, I chose a Mountain View room. It was much smaller and the bathroom had a shower that looked onto the room, which was kind of strange (especially since the privacy shade was on the room side). Rooms are very clean. They provide robe, slippers, toiletries, water filtration unit, kettle and canned water. I did not add on breakfast and did not try the hotel restaurant. Perhaps next time! The hotel is located in DB North. There are some restaurants and a few markets, including the Marketplace which has a great selection of groceries. Uncle Russ is right next door for your coffee fix. You can take the shuttles from DB Plaza (where the ferry lands) up to DB North. They also have shuttles that take you to HK Disneyland (though I didn't take advantage of them). If you can, definitely choose the ocean view room. It's spectacular!

Definitely recommend getting either the buffet package with booking, OR just going down to the buffet. There's shops near by, but the buffet in the lobby was convenient. My only caution, is to stay on top of bus and hotel shuttle times, because it is very limited. Staff was so pleasant during our stay. Loved every minute here!

We arrived to Hong Kong around 12pm so it was just in time for our Disney Dim Sum lunch at the Lotus Restaurant at Disneyland Hotel. When we arrived to that hotel the bell men offered to transfer our luggage to our hotel so we wouldn't have to drag it everywhere, which was 10/10 service for me! There was a convenient shuttle bus that brought us to our hotel once we were done eating. When we arrived, we picked up our luggage and checked in. The room was so welcoming with two beds, a clean bathroom, and a view of the gardens and pool. It was my birthday so the staff brought over a cute towel cake to celebrate, making me feel extra special! The hotel offers a lot of amenities, such as a Disney shop downstairs to grab you Disney gear, water, and souvenirs. We also tried out their restaurant breakfast buffet which offered Asian and Western dishes, character photos, and very attentive staff We also had a few drinks after the park, and met the nicest bartender Nikki. She made my birthday extra special by adding a Happy Birthday chocolate on my dessert. We strolled through the property to take a photo of the big Hollywood sign in the back. There were vintage vehicles for photo ops, and of course the Bay. Overall we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay! 9/10. Happy Journeys

There was a game room for the kids with several times during the day that were free play. A pool that was closed while we there. A nice playground for the kids. 2 restaurants. A gift shop (of course). Also, they played movies in the evenings I think. Be sure to check out their activity guide if you're hanging around the hotel for things to do. The bus to get to Disneyland / the MTR stop comes every 10-15 minutes. Except close to when the park opens/ closes it comes more frequently which was nice since the first bus filled up when we were waiting in line, another bus pulled up right behind it. I was expecting better service at such a pricey hotel. No one offered to help with our luggage when we got off the bus at the hotel, until the lady that checked us in offered, but by that point we were just a few meters from the elevator so we declined.

Well, there is a tacky touch to the rooms. The huge dolphin picture above my bed and all the silverthread lamps were a bit much and still: who cares with that view? The carpet gave me rashes. I am a dust allergic and most carpets, unless kept totally clean, have that effect on me. The pool is constantly closed and I haven't tasted their American or Chinese breakfast as both are not vegetarian. Otherwise almost every sign or menu is written in Chinese only and all the other guests were Chinese, mostly families. The wifi only works in the lobby and restaurant area, and unfortunately not in the rooms. Must say it is fast in the lobby and after logging in once, you log in automatically each time you come down. The room rates are reasonable with lucky number 888 (HKD) a night considering it is Hong Kong. I would definitely come back in the fall as it is too hot for the beach these days. It is lovely to find a relaxed island without the crowds that hit Lamma Island, just a short ferry ride away from Hong Kong Island. The hotel is ok and the view and the sound of the ocean are priceless.

The "explorer" theme was throughout the entire hotel - even down to the elevators (which made it look like you were in a hot air balloon). When you arrive, they are extremely efficient in immediately collecting your baggage and whisking it away. We checked in early and were told that we would be notified when our room was ready - HOWEVER, if we wanted to pay extra to upgrade our room, they could immediately provide a room. We declined and opted to explore the property and the other Disney hotels. When we returned, there were several families camped out in the lobby waiting for their room. When it came close to check in time, I followed up with the front desk and they were able to give us a room. Our luggage was delivered shortly after. The room was quite spacious and the theming in the room was quite clever and tastefully done. It had all the amenities you would expect - coffeemaker, robe, slippers and various charging cables. They provide shuttle service to the park, where you can also take the MTR other destinations. We did not eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on the restaurants on the premises. I had booked online through the Hong Kong Disneyland website and forgot that It had said, "Book your hotel stay online to receive exclusive privileges-room upgrade and complimentary drink." We did not get that room upgrade (which would have saved us from waiting hours for our room) or that complimentary drink. If you book online, please make sure that they honor this. If we had been spared the wait (or at least texted when a room was available), I would have given Disney Explorers Lodge five stars.

Hello good people of the Yelp community! It is with great sorrow and pain that I have to submit…read morethis 3 star review for my visit to the Disney Explorers Lodge. This review is not for the faint of heart. I'll dive right into the deets, but before we start, I'll quote the warning my parents received before the airing of "Thriller" at the "Majestic Crest Theatre" on Westwood Blvd. "If you have any children attending with you under the age of 13, you may want to escort them to the lobby at this time." My initial impression for my experience at the property was a one star review. I know! That's crazy! It's blaspheme! It's pure heresy to depict my beloved Disney brand in a negative light. Like a Yelp Tinker Bell, I wish I could just sprinkle fairy dust on my initial impression of The Disney Explorers Lodge in Hong Kong. And just so it's clear, this is only a review of the Hotel and not the Park! In fact the park was totes fab! Like it was the bees knees or the cats meow! Upon arriving at the property at about the worst possible hour on the worst possible day of the year, we were greeted with an enormous line. I get it, I get it. What else would I expect on a day like this day! Actually we were waiting in 2 lines. My initial inner monologue was like "There has to be a better system in place." My family and I love and adore the Disney brand. But even on a holiday, there has to be a better or more prepared reaction to arriving guests. Yes, even if Half of Honk Kong arrives at the same time on the same day! One line was for keys and one for guests checking in. We were a bit confused by the situation. Maybe I'm a novice, but there's should be some hosts or Cast Members greeting guests with a smile and maybe some directions or maybe a cup of water and high five from Explorer Goofy! In any case, it took about an hour to get to the front of the lines. And being the sharp detective that I am, we figured out that the longer line was for guest who had checked in earlier and didn't have a room assigned to them yet! No, but really, someone should like be directing people to the right place. Like for serious! Once we had our room assigned, we could start enjoying the grounds. The property is the newest at HKD and as the title implies it has a world explorer meets Disney kinda vibe. There's a couple of themed gift shops, a terrific pool area and a few food options that I'll get into later. The elevator that took us up had a hot air ballon inspired motif and this might be the only place in the world where that's both acceptable and to be expected. We stepped into the room and the first thing I noted was that the hardwood area near the front looked yucky! There were definitely stains or goop stuck on the floor. Maybe there was an altercation between a couple ducks before we got in or something like that. I'm not sure, but it looked unpleasant to me. Next item, after putting our stuff down, we found what seemed to be a hair by the folded towel in front of our shower area. I can deduce that it was not my hair or my sons hair as he has little of it by choice and I have less than that by the hands of time and old age. In didn't match anyone in our party in fact. Is that the end of the world? No, it's not. But it is a little gross, you follow? Fortunately, the free Wi-Fi kicked in so daddy could get a dose of zone out time on the Webernet. Three free agents later in Fantasy Baseball and some Rotoworld, I was a new man ready enjoy the fun beyond the walls. I really was expecting more to go wrong, but after my nightmarish check in process and finding my room to be in less than tip top shape, everything else seemed to correct itself back to the Disney standard I expect. The grounds were fun to walk through and while it's a fairly new property, there were not tons of thing to do. All the restaurants, shops and activity areas looked clean and were staffed with friendly and helpful people. While it may not be normal to buy a $7 hot chocolate anywhere else, my onsite hot chocalate was served with ice cream, chocolate cereal and chocolate mouse ears that might be affiliated with a certain icon. In fact our pizza was delicious and came with corn soup and the creamy pasta was also tasty and can you guess? It came with a side of corn soup! Point is, the food tasted good and the hotel, however unprepared for our arrival rush, still had something positive to offer. I think the goof (get it) could have been avoided with better communication up front. And there could have been some compensation for the wait time. I'm not talking money, but maybe an extra character visit or some cheap swag. I love me some Disney swag! It really does make everything better! My overall impression was ok. From my perspective, there is room for improvement. I enjoyed the perks or staying at a HKG hotel, but a more thorough room inspection would have made all the difference in the world.
