Since I was on a mission to taste the classic vanilla/egg tart flavors from several well known bakeries across town, I dived right into their Vanilla Flan, a flan tart that was more than my typical spend for a single bakery item in Hong Kong. The Vanilla Flan was heavyweight and thick, with a rich and custard-like interior, well speckled with vanilla bean, and soft yet slightly bouncy reverberation as teeth sink in. The flavor is definitely sweet and not light. The croissant shell surrounding the custard was layered visually but did not have that flaky crisp dismantling when bit into. It was more chewy than flaky as I worked my way around and into it. For the price, I wouldn't forgive myself if I went back for seconds, as I found other bakeries that make a better pastry in my opinion for half the cost. Needless to say, I was underwhelmed and expected more. However, they have many other attractive baked goods that may or may not be better. The service was quick and friendly, and completely in English, which I think is what the bakery aims toward.
