I'm currently visiting HK and wanted some affordable sushi in the area where I'm staying. I already tried Genki Sushi earlier this week, so I wanted to try this place out. Overall, it is decent if you want some quick sushi. Unfortunately, I do not read chinese and was unaware of their 40minute maximum limit of sitting/eating at this restaurant. I went to eat there by myself and had the following experience:
1. Fish was decent. Since the "chefs" are stationed at a particular corner, if you're not at a spot where the fresh stuff will get to you quick, you'll have a SLIM chance of getting the plates you want. Seared salmon? Salmon belly? Forget about it if you're in badly placed area.
2. Sanitization. THIS could definitely be improved. They reused a lot of their sushi plate lids (understandably since it's busy), but they reuse the lids with sauces smeared on the side. Sometimes the lid will touch the raw fish and smear the sauce on the fish.
3. Service. I understand that this isn't the US, so I'm not going to tick off too much points for this. I overheard the servers talking about needing to seat a family of 4. I was sitting next to 3 empty spots and went to eat alone. One of the girls came over and pulled my ticket out and reminded me of the 40minute limit. There were other people that came before me still eating. She said "your time is up. please go pay your bill" and marked my ticket and waited for me to get up. All of this happened while I was eating my last plate. I couldn't help but think... RUDE. Could they not have communicated it in a customer friendly way? Like 10minute notice?
Anyway, I will not be eating here again. read more
