It certainly does the job in a pinch, but it won't satisfy the pickiest sushi lovers. Conveyor belts usually mean there is no need to deal with the wait staff; it is after all the kind of solo dining that is best. The food comes to you and you choose if you want it or not. The Nepalese staff has a tendency to stand around and chat, which isn't so bad till you realize you need more tea or the bill. The sushi has its moments. There are rolls and nigiri galore, and done in a way where its food porn appropriate. Beyond the instagram closeups, there is a decent amount of variety, but at some point the names are so beyond traditional sushi that it sometimes becomes tough to identify which rolls are what. Whether its uni, tuna belly, salmon, or some sort of cooked seafood, they're more than likely to have it. It all tends to be on the mediocre side, so don't get your hopes up. Then there is the midnight sushi deal, which is literally half off of the entire menu, except for alcohol. It starts at 10pm and the lines are already forming at 9:30pm. This gives folks the opportunity to rock a Sushi One (rice, fatty tuna, salmon roe, wrapped in unagi and topped with uni) without having to deal with the price. Word of advice: avoid all the "cheese" nigiri or rolls, it's horrendous. Truth be told, if it weren't for the midnight deal, I'd never come here. The sushi isn't good enough to warrant those regular prices, but it's clear management is aware of this. Hence, the midnight deal gives them the relevance they need without having to push the quality of the fish.

Environment: Sushi was a popular choice for lunch since there was a line forming already. Go up to the tablet on the wall and reserve your spot. Once we were called, we were shown our to table. Just like Japan, you'll input your orders and the sushi will come flying down the tracks. The difference here is that you'll need to use your smart phone to place the orders; they have free WiFi for you to connect to (1.5 hours). The table has all the things that you'll need for your meal: chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, powered tea, hot water. Once you're done with your meal, take your clipboard to the front and make your payment. What was ordered: - Rolls - Nigiri - Dessert Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. I was really pleased with all my nigiri and the tempura set was very good as well - shrimp, fish, veggies. Not too greasy and delicious! Restaurant was lovely but there was a very drunk couple dining nearby that was super loud and distracting. Otherwise restaurant was full but never too crowded. I opted for 1D, which comes with the sushi set of Seared Scallop with Garlic Butter, Seared Black Pepper Boiled Shrimp, Seared Black Pepper Salmon, Jumbo Crab Stick, and Egg; a side dish of Deep-Fried Chicken (they ran out of Deep-Fried Fish Ball with Cheese); and Steamed Egg Custard with Seafood. The sushi set was stunning and tasted as delectable as it looked. The thick cuts of seafood were buttery and fresh, with their flavour ever so enhanced by their sear and light dabs of black pepper / garlic butter. The sushi rice was also the perfect amount and cooked to the right texture. I would say my favourite piece was either the Boiled Shrimp or the Salmon. For the two sides, I definitely preferred the Fried Chicken over the Egg Custard; it was lightly fried and incredibly moist inside. While the Egg Custard did have its seafood, it was quite bland and one-dimensional. Being someone that likes her variety, I also ordered the popular Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll ($22) and the Deep-Fried Oysters ($35). Yes, it was one of those let's-deep-fry-everything days for me. Between the two, the Hand Roll is the lighter and likely healthier option, but they both tasted great in my books. In short, Genki Sushi redefines conveyer belt (kaiten) sushi into a deliciously fun and fresh experience. Even ordering was an experience all in itself as you simply order by QR Code through your phone. Conveniently located at Nathan Road near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, we decided to have our final meal in Hong Kong at Daikiya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very solid all-you-can-eat option with two thick notebooks of pictured items to choose from. The raw and the cooked, the fish and the meat, the meal and the dessert... Sashimi - The usual suspects abound (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc.), but they also have hokkigai (surf clam), amaebi (sweet shrimp), Hokkaido hotate (scallop), and nishin (Japanese herring with roe). Served on a bed of ice and decorated with artificial flowers, each platter was well-plated... and delicious! Nigiri - There are plenty of winners here, but let's focus on the one that topped the list - Grilled Scallop with Crab Oil and Garlic. Seared enough to give that burnt flavor, dabbed with crab oil, then topped with roasted garlic... Need I say more? This was the highlight of our meal and, yes, my younger daughter and I had this over and over and over! Worthy runners-up - Grilled Flatfish and Prawn with Black Fish Roe. Rolls - An assortment of maki (sushi roll), temaki (hand roll), gunkan-maki (ship roll), and sashimi rolls was on the menu as well, but we were able to try only a few. The Mango and Soft-Shell Crab Roll was too small and had more cucumber than anything else. There simply were better options to be had. Grilled - Surf and Turf! Shrimp, scallop, oyster, lamb chop, beef, chicken, pork, and even pineapple. The best dish was the Sautéed Diced Beef with Garlic. Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium, these beef chunks were so tender and tasty! Dessert - Gotta save room for some (or all) of these - mochi, macaron, ice cream, tiramisù, brownie, crème brûlée, fruit, nut, and so on. We indulged in their special Milk Top, which had a limit of one flavor per person. We tried the Romantic Moment and Green Tea Harmony, which had soft-serve ice cream, red bean/paste, mochi balls, jellies, and rice crispies. The only way to cap off an AYCE! After restocking on calories, we were ready to head back to the hotel and then to HKIA. Daikiya was just what the doctor ordered to fill up our bellies before leaving.
